Morrison's need to rely on stuff the average person hasn't read reminds me of the Modernists back in the 20's, who specifically wrote things that would make no sense to those without the expensive education to understand them. Morrison's doing the same elitist thing, but for people with enough money to buy old back issues all the time. Feh.

Also, Honor Jackson was such a ridiculous usage of the "magical negro" stereotype that I was really, really disappointed. Morrison's a lot of things, but cliche isn't usually one of them. (Maybe the Scottish only know black people through American movies, and therefore assume that they only exist to help out the nice white protagonist.)

Other than that, I'm still hoping it'll get better...

Lots of money for back issues or the skill to use Wikipedia.

    • brad (guest) wrote in reply on July 7, 5:05 pm

when are they going to announce the winner of the pulp art character contest its been like two months

    • Charlie Schneider (guest) wrote in reply on July 7, 6:21 pm

They already did, just not in an episode.

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote on July 7, 1:40 pm

No Pete this week? *Heaven chanting* What a perfect week!!!

I loved this recent Batman issue, mainly because it is so fucked up right now. To Alien Batmans, to Batmite, to just a hallucinating Batman...just great writing by Morrison, he is at the top of his game right now. Walking Dead was also fantastic, not as big as a 50th issue should be. But Kirkman did slowly changed the guard of the main focus of the show and I think Carl will be just fine in this series.

Nothing much else to talk about, sorry but I just didnt care about this Superman project...Nice art though.

    • BluDiE (guest) wrote on July 7, 1:56 pm

Why no Jokers Asylum in the speed round? I mean seriously, the Joker playing the Crypt Keeper in "his" very own series! I think it deserved a mention in the speed round. Maybie next week?

      Ming Doyle is a girl.

    • Jemma (guest) wrote on July 7, 2:17 pm

Guys, Ming Doyle is a female woman lady for reals.

Yay P:R! Also, I like your show! :D

    • Lusvell (guest) wrote on July 7, 2:31 pm

Haha, what kinda pisses me off is that I was going to enter the Superman contest with a closely similar design to the Second Place winner, but decided not to enter cause I thought it was silly.

      :/...

    • Bombardem wrote on July 7, 3:26 pm

I know this will come as a huge surprise, the .WMV file of the show isnt working....again.

    • JustinSucksMyBalls (guest) wrote on July 7, 4:31 pm

You should put a Justin spoiler up before the show..This was the single worst episode ever..Im on justin overload..i hate the fucking guy

    • JustinSucksMyBalls (guest) wrote on July 7, 4:36 pm

justin, where did you get that jacket you homo..you look like a nazi girlscout

    • IJones (guest) wrote in reply on July 7, 5:48 pm

...Yeah, I remember my first beer...

I even remember further back (around 13) when I learned how to say bad words for the first time.

      Those were great times.

    • Bombardem wrote in reply on July 7, 8:36 pm

I gotta agree on that jacket. I'm sorry thats the most retarded thing I've ever seen. It looks like a 70's polyester leisure suit designed by autistic chimpanzees.

The Pete slams were totally out of line, and more a sad commentary on how unimaginative the show is than how repetitive Pete is. Its not Pete's fault he repeats himself, because any time he tries to explain those opinions Alex talks over him and moves on to the next book. Of course if its a book Alex wants to expound upon he gets all the time he likes. Pete's the best part of the show, do us a favor, next week how about if Justin and Alex dont show up, and let Pete solo.

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote in reply on July 7, 8:39 pm

All Pete would do is review Wolverine and bad horror books. Plus use the word 'like' and 'awesome' like no tomorrow. And do crazy sound effects...so yeah maybe perfect for you, but for me....god no.

    • deantrippe wrote in reply on July 8, 12:15 am

holy flip, i can't believe you aren't banned on this site already.

    • Ming (guest) wrote in reply on July 8, 1:11 pm

I think that jacket is totally stylish!

    • Andy (guest) wrote in reply on July 8, 11:12 pm

Jeez bombardem, can you watch your language. That was really uncalled for.

And I also like Justin's Jacket.

    • IJones (guest) wrote in reply on July 9, 11:38 am

"Anally raped"? Bomb, come on. You can do better than that without stooping so low. But, why was Bomb's post yanked and JustinSuckMyBalls get's to keep his post on this site? That was just a flat out slam and nothing construtive to it.

As for the jacket, I think he wore it like those ladies that wear those horrible outfits at the Oscars. So people will talk about 'em. Keep surprising us Justin.

    • I Eatz Planets wrote on July 7, 6:18 pm

Hey can you guys please review Astounding Wolfman 7 and Avengers Initiative 14. Seriously 2 of the best comics Ive read in a few months. If you do I'll be you BFFF

    • bandito (guest) wrote on July 7, 6:58 pm

cool supermans, men, whatever. whos idea was it for the contest? you should do another superhero redo or something similar like design a sidekick for somebody.

i miss pete, good job though.

    • Reltib (guest) wrote on July 7, 8:59 pm

Great show even though I missed Pete. Seriously though, watching you guys look at some art while describing it to us after we saw if for a few seconds is a little strange. Take a look at the show again. It's actually kind of funny. I know it's more work, but why not show close-ups of that which you are speaking. The cap here. Supergirl there. I really wanted to see more of the winner.

    • McBangle wrote on July 7, 11:12 pm

I bet Pete would've known that Ming Doyle is a woman.

    • deantrippe wrote on July 8, 12:16 am

I'm with you on Morrison's Batman. I can't fully recommend it to anyone who hasn't been reading the whole thing (or doesn't get at least a few of the Silver Age references), but I'm still in all the way. I just wish J.H. Williams III was handling the art.

Missing Pete! What did Pete think of the Supermans?!

    • Clements_01 wrote on July 8, 2:38 pm

The Morrison Batman is truly mindboggling. I can see what he's doing, I just don't like what he's doing or as Alex said, don't care.

I can't quite agree on the Angel After the Fall front. Although Lynch is doing okay story-wise, the removal of Urru on art has caused the book to suffer. Although Runge manages a cool looking panel or two, it always seems as though it's been traced from a pre-existing still from the show. When he's left to his own devices, the results can be horrific.

    • metamorphic wrote on July 8, 5:52 pm

I can't wait for Pete's return! Heads will roll, baby! It'll be total Pete-demonium!

Anyhoo, I haven't read Batman in a long while but I've been picking this arc up...and I love it! Messed up and descending into madness...how far has Batman really ever been from that line?

    • IJones (guest) wrote on July 8, 6:15 pm

Anyone else out there reading Walking Dead? It's the one book out there right now that keeps me waiting for the next issue. The best stuff Kirkman is doing.

Issue 50 was a nice change of pace after the massacre from # 48. Great spotlight on the kid! Plus, the letters`page is 9 pages long! I haven't enjoyed this forum since Preacher.

I've been hating Spidey since the conclusion of OMD. I still agrue that the lighthearted nature of this book could have still been done with a married Pete. But, that's for another thread.... Even though I thought issue 564 was lame, I was still wowed by Paulo Siqueira artwork. Who is this guy!?!? Get him more Spidey work, please!

Oh, and Fables is taking us to something really cool. I can feel it.

    • BJ (guest) wrote on July 8, 8:59 pm

First of all, justin is the best part of the show. I bet "JustinSucksMyBalls" doesn't have any friends. :( Poor little guy. I did miss Pete though, he's an integral part of the show and I think Alex and Justin pick on him too much. Peace out.

    • BJ (guest) wrote on July 8, 8:59 pm

This show is one of my favorite things ever. Keep up the good work guys.

    • kenny williams (guest) wrote on July 9, 8:03 pm
