Good show, gentlemen! Though I am a huge DC fan, JLA is consistently bad - and has been for a while. It's not the characters per se: It's a really good line-up (in theory). I think Red Tornado could be written really well. He just hasn't been. And the Vixen thing needs to end already.

As you said, this should be a flagship title. Instead, it's a bad teen drama. Sans the teens. And the drama for that matter.

JLA hasnt been too bad lately, hell the last two issues with Bee Queen and Libra/Human Flame were pretty damn good. It's just that this Red Tornado business is getting old and is not entertaining. We already focused on him in the first 6 issues, why the hell are we doing this story again?

I for one I've always like these flashback Avenger stories for SI. Mainly because it's nice to see this whole plan shape out after hearing Bendis so many times state it on interviews. It's just a shame that these stories are actually more interesting then the actual Secret Invasion. But I have good reason to believe issue 4 will be awesome.

BTW, Guardians of the Galaxy kicks ass! Easily the best title Marvel has done in a long time. The fact that Pete would pick a werewolf issue, which probably sucks giving his track record, over a great space story is just ridiculous.

It's like Pete is just a whiny baby and cant handle books that are in outer space. First he can love the modern classic of the Sinestro Corps, then he cant handle the GOTG or Nova. You know I could complain and tease Pete all the time, but since he never types in to these things I dont have to worry about him.

Grow up douchebag, how about read a comic for (gasp) story and appreciate how hard it's been for Abbnett and Lanning to make the cosmic universe a major role in Marvel again.

Sorry, any comic that has a talking raccoon in it as a superhero is crap. I dont care how good you think it is. The book immediately loses all credibility as a serious comic when you toss in a premise that silly. Maybe if it was a 7 foot tall bipedal and musclebound, in a cape and spandex underwear I could take it more seriously...this should be a DC title.

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote on June 25, 3:53 pm

Dont you dare tease the Rocket Raccoon! Make fun of Squirrl Girl, cause she's a dumbass. But you dont mess with a raccoon with a gun. Plus he's considered one of the smartest people in the universe.

Plus, if you havent read it then dont say it sucks. That's why Pete doesnt like it, cause he can barely read so he cant read the text on the pages. Me and the hundreds of ifanboy fans agree it's a great comic.

Love Guardians of the Galaxy, its been such a great series so far and I can only imagine how much better it will get.

    • David (guest) wrote on June 25, 7:20 pm

Pete is entitled to his opinion I completely disagree...anyways anytime a comic features a talking raccoon with a gun and a talking dog from the russian space program that has the making of a fine comic...in fact a talking raccoon with a dog should be in Ultimate X-men

The Next Champion thanks for always watching the show, but you suck for what you said about me.

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote on June 26, 12:12 am

Oh what are you gonna do about it Pete? Your all the way over there......and im all the way over here lol

Seriously, if you dont like the GOTG then that's fine, your entitled to your opintion. But just stating a nit pick like the way the panels are out of place is just stupid. Do you not like the story? Is the art too out there? Give me a deeper review then saying broken english and then go to another comic and say 'wow this comic is great!' and doing weird sound effects when you like something. It's nice you have humor, but when you start sounding like a 7 year old, that's a problem.

      The NextChampion,
OK so meet me at a Comic con any comic con and it is so on. Any way, I just think the side panels of the characters commenting on the action pulls me out of the story. Other than that the story is really well done.

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 27, 11:11 pm

Talking animals...*sigh* You folks who like that should enjoy the dreadful Marvel Apes coming up. I agree that RR takes me out of this title.

Finally someone agrees with me that JLA is crap! I really dont see a need for a Justice League comic. All the big guns have their own titles so theres no need for them to have a team book. Besides JSA rocks out loud.

Metalocalypse and family guy references, great show...wish i could help you out but im broke

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 27, 11:08 pm

All fans in the NYC area should turn out and help these guys out with their space.

Enjoying the back stories in both Avengers titles.

    • rmoonyose wrote on June 26, 3:05 am

Man, I couldn't agree more about Justice League. I think there were like two good pages out of that entire issue just before Superman takes Red Arrow aside and says how he wants to bash in Lois's head cause she won't do the dishes. And the Red Tornado voyeurism thing? WTF? Why? Come on, McDuffy might be getting hamstringed on this series, but so much so that all he was left with was Red Tornado's sexual deviancies? Not even Jesus can save this series.

And who's smack talking Pete? Pete's the f'ing man! No one talks smack about my boy Pete, ya'll.

But dude, re-read Guardians of the Galaxy. Whatever you didn't like, bro, just put it out of your mind and re-read the first two issues. Slammin stuff.

    • theEscapists wrote on June 26, 4:01 am

Am I the only one who enjoyed Brad Meltzer's run on Justice League? I felt that it was very well written and plotted in the same way that Identity Crisis was. Meltzer just didn't get to finish his run and show where he was going with all the different characters. Just like how I hated Elongated man at the beginning of Identity Crisis he made me like Red Tornado by the end of the first arc.

The whole watching them Red Arrow have sex as awkward but funny. It was meant to poke fun and add an emotional weight to Tornado's situation. Hey I mean, Justice Leauge #22 is no Punisher War Journal anything (sarcasm)but it's decent. I just wish there was more pivotal moments and action.

thanks for another great show guys! thank you for the spoiler warning they gave me just enough time to skip ahead. i gotta say i dont know about the justice league dont really read it but as for the avengers books...LOVE THEM! Secret Invasion is the shiznit

    • SMARTASS8 (guest) wrote on June 26, 4:52 pm

I'm surprised they felt JLA was too adult for a flagship book, but all the nudity(where nips were strategically covered) was OK for New Avengers #42. While I don't think many kids under 18 still read comics, I was more shocked by that issue than I would be if Wolvering or Nick Fury still smoked.

    • Barnabas (guest) wrote on June 27, 3:10 pm

Pete shouldnt rip on the racoon, he was the one who gave Captain Bucky O'hare props on the classic tv show run down :)

    • zack mckinley (guest) wrote on June 27, 7:27 pm

why is it whenever a member of the justice league goes rogue or bad, he/she can take out the entire league of super heroes, super man alone should be able to whoop thier ass back into shape.why can't anyone put them back into thier place.

New Avengers #42, Justice League of America #22 and Mighty Avengers #15

Up first it's New Avengers #42.  The guys like the story about Spiderwoman's past, and Alex makes a funny reference to Metalocalypse.  Next it's Justice League of America #22.  The guys don't really like the Red Tornado story line, and think the issue is a little akward for a flagship DC title.  Then it's Mighty Avengers #15.  The guys love it and think you should pick it up.  During the Speed Round we look at Zorro #4, Guardians of The Galaxy #2, Wolf #1, and Black Belt Hamsters #4.  Finishing up, Morg writes in: "Are there any experiences or influences that have shaped your comic book tastes as adults?"  Be sure to tune in and see what the guys' answers are!
