Dude, what if Alex is right though. That all the mutants are all just decentents of Skrulls ? Thats why they have there powers that normal humans don't.

    • J.YO (guest) wrote in reply on May 12, 12:33 pm

skrulls are shapeshifters. they dont have powers other than that unless their scientists mimic them. so all the super heros being decendants of skrulls would leave the marvel universe full of shapeshifters and thats about it. it would be like Jumper but even crappier.

I am glad I am not the only one that thought Secret Invasion was boring. It was $4 for a normal length story in which NOTHING happened. Seriously.

    • JohnneeCurtis wrote on May 12, 12:10 pm

Oy to the Secret Invasion! I have this sad feeling that its going to be another Marvel story that could have been done much better in 4 issues then in 7. Lets just slowly draw the money out of fans pockets till they stop buying comings. Come on Marvel don't EVER FORGET the 90's!!!

    • i_use_tp wrote on May 12, 12:11 pm

You've just scared a 13 year old boy. Anyways, didn't like or dislike Secret Invasion #2. I do have to say Bendis has improved by leap and bounds in writing big cross over events. Remember House of M? The first seven issues where NOTHING happens. Still looking forward to the rest of Secret Invasion.

Id like to see 'The Incredible Hulk' end up being a Skrull.. cus then it would explain the whole being GREEN thing.. or is that already explained. THAT has ALWAYS PISSED ME OFF i suppose.. WHY THE HELL IS HE GREEN?!

      and
i dont want to see spiderman as a skrull. Cus i hear skrull scrot looks like the skrull chins. and to think that maryjane would have anything to do with that - is .. not good?!... did i take this to a different level?! having inter-solar relations with a skrull might not be too fun.. cus its not love.. its hate sex.. which some people may enjoy... but not maryjane.. no... not mary jane...

im like ZOMBIEXXX... SHOCK SHOCK SHOCK!!

    • Bombardem wrote in reply on May 12, 1:36 pm

You may have missed it, but in the MCU, gamma radiation is green. Hulk's green'ness is well documented. I want to see how they explain the red ones red'ness...

    • i_use_tp wrote on May 12, 12:13 pm

Another thing too. I usually can't STAND Pete's reviews. I have to say Pete did an excellent job today. Kudos.

    • dirtywhitebrian wrote in reply on May 12, 3:05 pm

      agreed. good job

    • J.YO (guest) wrote on May 12, 12:29 pm

i enjoyed secret invasion. the last page spread was cool as fook. im enjoying the whole cross over. not much really happened in this issue but it wasnt a major issue for me to be honest. but i dont mind just going along with what the writer is doing. i know by the end of the arc youll be able to read them one after the other and its gonna be a pleasurable reading experience.

unless he drops the ball and its a stinker.

nick fury is not a skrull. the hoff could never be a skrull.

    • Bombardem wrote on May 12, 12:29 pm

Notice...no one is commenting on anything but Secret Invasion...maybe it should have been more than just a speed round blurb...

Myself, the more SI#2 gestates in my psyche, the more I hate it. Nearly the whole comic is just insultingly stupid, and treats the readers like they must be morons too. Its like that ship must have been emanating an idiot ray that lowered everyones IQ 50 points. On top of that we find out at the end the whole thing in Antarctica was a ploy to get every hero out of New York so the real Skrull invasion could land there.

I can just see the Daily Bugle headlines:
"Skrulls Invade While Avengers Play With Themselves!"

    • Clinton (guest) wrote on May 12, 12:38 pm

Men of The Stack good show but how do you find out about what good Comics are there to find.

    • mrf326 (guest) wrote on May 12, 12:55 pm

The group shower comment completely pushed Pete over the edge! He turned as red as the Stack logo! Go back and look. F'ing HILARIOUS!!!

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote on May 12, 1:28 pm

Wow, you reviewed Secret Invasion #2 in the Speed Round? The Speed Round? Jesus, we get to see a bad Action Comics finale, a decent return to New Universal, and another TERRIBLE, NO NEEDED Wolverine comic!? Jesus Christ, why dont we just not review any of the Final Crisis stuff and focus on the Tiny Titans or Raven series that you guys loved so much? Idiots

    • Bombardem wrote in reply on May 12, 1:37 pm

      Hey, no fair channeling me!

    • freudian-slip (guest) wrote on May 12, 1:38 pm

Big fan of the show. Question: what's the deal with the three books being displayed each episode? Since you don't discuss THOSE books, are they just paid product placement? Silent endorsements? What's the deal??

    • plasticbugs wrote in reply on May 12, 1:55 pm

Nope, those are just other books the guys picked up that week. We don't have time to cover every book, so that's just more of that week's pull - usually a sampling from everyone's pile and no comics with green in the cover (because of our green screen).

    • Bombardem wrote in reply on May 12, 2:36 pm

Thats always bugged the shit outta me too. Its very distracting to have comics there that arent being reviewed. Is green really on that many covers?

On another note. I looked everywhere for any information out there on New Universal 2, and couldnt find anything. Is that new this week, or last week, or some imaginary comic like last weeks Beyond that didnt exist? I see New Universal: SHOCKFRONT #1, but thats all.

    • dirtywhitebrian wrote in reply on May 12, 3:11 pm

yeah, I liked it better too when there was a bunch of comics laid over the table instead of 3 unrelated ones propped up. But I do remember they would reflect the green screen then and it was annoying.
sometimes thats just the way things gotta be, I do like the plugs for books that don't get reviewed but maybe a way to make them look less formal like before.

    • plasticbugs wrote in reply on May 12, 3:39 pm

Yes, the full title is New Universal: Shockfront #1. I updated the episode title and description to reflect this. Thanks.

    • hi123 (guest) wrote on May 12, 6:11 pm

IM NOT A FAN FOR ACTION COMICS BUT THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE THE BEST COMIC THEY MADE

    • marcelo (guest) wrote on May 12, 6:12 pm

that shower thing at the end really explains why you guys were being so friendly during the episode with that triple stack pick hahuehuahuea, well, good luck there dudes...

    • Jason (aka) Superguy04 (guest) wrote on May 12, 11:00 pm

I was very disapointed that you did not sicuss the big twist ending to the Action Annual. What are your opionions on the ending? i feel that it was kind of a bummer sense chris was being fleshed out in other books.

    • Charlie Schneider (guest) wrote on May 12, 11:06 pm

I feel your pain at the (temporary?) loss of Chris. I actually thought they might be setting him up as the new Superboy and eventual successor to Superman's legacy.

Who better to carry on you cause that the son of your worst enemy. That just seems like a natural direction to go in. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what's up.

    • thinwhiteduke wrote on May 13, 5:13 am

Alex, can you hook us up with last weeks Comic Book Club before you do this weeks show? I enjoy catching the show while the comics are relatively current. See what you can do. Also I should probably know, but I cannot make out who is on petes new shirt, so who is it anybody? I wonder if that shirt is normally in color, but Pete bought the sketch variant version?

    • Alexander Zalben (guest) wrote in reply on May 13, 9:20 am

      Yup! Is up :)

      It's LAP-ham? Really? I've been saying LAY-fum forever.

    • Steven J. Vasquez (guest) wrote on May 14, 2:53 pm

So far, I've been into Secret Invasion as of issue #1. I still have to pick up my copy of #2. I also have Action Comics Annual #11 in my pre-order box at the store. New Universal looks interesting and I dig the art I've seen from it. Might have to look into it. I can do without ANOTHER Wolverine book. Art looks interesting and he's a great character, but Logan is a character who has been saturated so much. Up in the air on it, really.
The whole group shower thing was WAAAAAAYYYY OUT OF LEFT FIELD!!! I don't want to expound upon it, however, since the very thought of it made me cringe. It reminded me of when I went to fill out a membership application for the video store I now rent at. After I filled it out I was perusing the aisles to rent a few flicks and took notice of an elderly gentleman (about in his mid 70s) who was going in and out of the adult section a lot. I became curious to see just what it was that had him going in and out of the room, so I walked in to find him staring up at the monitor and watching a girl-girl video with the face a Marvel Zombie would have had taking notice of a fresh brain. As I turned to head out of the room I bumped straight into the Gay Male vids and felt the need to bathe (this is the way I felt at the thought of a group shower between Pete, Justin, and Alex!!!!!!). As I walked out of the store with my rentals, the old man was walking out with a 2 foot stack (NOT EXAGGERATING) of adult videos!!!!!!!!!
As for the Stack Shower 3-some?

...IMAGE, GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
