Good show guys. I really enjoyed Capt Marvel 5 too.
I think he could really become the Superman of the Marvel U only cooler. The Sentry is up there too but he's a bit too emo.
Falcon's eulegy of Capt America really got to me. I didn't cry but it did really affect me more than I thought a comic could.
thanks guys keep up the good work
I have to admit, I shed a tear at the end of Starman's Grand Guignol arc when [a very important character] died. And as for summer crossovers, bring on Final Crisis.
Me too ... I also got choked up when jack got the letter from the mist
The Secret Invasion stuff has been pretty good so far. SI #1 was a great start, and Mighty Avengers and Marvel were good issues.
It's nice to finally see what Nick Fury is doing and why the hell he hasnt been around for the last 2-3 years. My theory is that the red circle means Skrull while Blue means normal. So if Hulking is a Skrull and is in red, then that could mean Wolverine is a skrull is too.
It is alittle cheap that this isnt the original Marvel, but hey it's nice to see him come back. Although I'm sure he isnt going to last long if the Skrulls do have some way to control him. I have a feeling we see more of him in Secret Invasion #2
I am very glad they didn't cheapen the Starlin Death of Captain Marvel, which was an emotional story, by having this really be a Mar-vel from a different time line. Him being a Skrull is a very nice touch.
Pete's homophobia is so funny...
I've become emotional with a few comics. The ones I remember right off the top of my head would be Alex Ross's 'Marvels'.
However comics dont have nearly the emotional impact that films do. There are some films out there that make me tear up no matter how many times I watch them. Anyone who doesn't cry at the end of Tony Scott's 'Man on Fire' just isn't human.
Yeah, and thats just an awesome movie anyway.
I'm so glad you guys ARE spoiling the Skrull Invasion stuff, cuz I won't buy it :)
The only comic that comes to mind that ever had an emotional effect on me was J. O. Barr's THE CROW
Great show (as pretty much always)! The comic that has gotten to me most is the first mini-series of The Sentry... I just think the thought of a marvel hero (perhaps the first and greatest) forgotten forever was kinda emotional.
Then they of course destroyed it by bringing hom back like they did...
hey i just wanted to ask if the guys on the stack could bring up net neutrality situation on the next episode to try to inform the viewers of what might be happening to their internet.
Great job Guys!!
One of the best episodes ive seen, great selection of review comics, great humour and and good veiwer question. Keep up the good work.
Hey, this is just an idea but for the rest of the summer I'm sure you guys will be covering titles involved with S:I and final crisis, maybe on the side thing you could put rough time markers for the show. Like (3:15) Wonderlost is.... I dunno, it's probably just laziness on my part but I would dig it if you guys did that.
The point of this is to skip titles that you don't wanna hear about, if that wasn't clear.
you must be a busy guy dude.
well its not that i care about skipping through, the only reason is just to skip a part with spoilers, if i skip through on my own they might be showing a big reveal or something. Not that I'm complaining about spoilers or anything the more up to date the stuff they review is the better. It was just an idea i was tossing out there
great show guy! Couple of moments have made me a little teary eye 2 such incidents came in Identity Crisis first was when Ralph Dibny was trying to give a eulegy a he starts to lose control of his powers and the second from the same book when batman and robin are racing to help Tims father and robin turns to batman a says "bruce please help him" and when he finds his father the art was amazing it really got to me
That funeral two page spread is one of the best pieces of artwork I saw in 2006.
I dont know what you guys were even thinking spoiling Mighty Avengers, not just the day it comes out but before the comic book stores even open in the united states...you did it on purpose too because its not like the show is done live and you couldnt have gone back and edited that stuff out or done a retake. Really a major douche move...
I don't know if its really a douche move if they warn there will be spoilers.
One, there was no warning, they just blurted it out and then said oops spoiler, like total frakking jackasses.
Two, even had there been a warning you dont spoil shit before it even goes on sale. If you are going to discuss spoiler information at all you wait a few days at the very least.
Three, before you do discuss it you say something like 'turn off the show now if you dont want to hear spoilers'. You dont blurt them out like a douchebag and then say oops.
I know its WAY too much to expect the three stooges to act professional, but they could at least show a little courtesy.
I don't think I'd be spoiling anything by calling you a bitchy douchebag
Didn't spoil anything for me
as far as emotional reactions
Y: The Last Man spoilers
The death of Ampersand really brought me to tears. It was so well drawn and sad.
Also i was home alone when i read the issue where 355 died and literally started screaming "What the fuck!" about twelve time and then went looking for some trickery that could explain how she'd survive, but alas....
Thanks for reviewing Wonderlost, guys! I have to say it was a lot of fun working with CB on it, even though I got one of the tamer stories. I was pretty shocked by how... open... some of the content was myself, but overall I definitely agree that it's a good read. And at least you guys said the art's really good. Heh-HAH!

You guys should totally spoil more Secret Invasion stuff.

Oops... make that art. You said that art was great.
I'll just shut up now.
Totally squirted a couple of tears over a few books, particularly Spider-Man books. Off the top of my head.... Spectacular Spider-Man #200... um.... I think because I knew how OMD was going to end, the Sensational Spidey Annual kind of got me choked up, Spider-Man: Blue, and some specific aspects of Preacher actually got me a little misty toward the end. I think if you don't feel something that moment with Jesse and Tulip in the snow outside the eunuch's bar, you have the heart of a comic book editor. Ooh!
12 reasons why I love you.
A friend of mine gave me this as late birthday present the two days after my girlfriend broke up with me..and it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Say what you will
There were only 2 issues of any comics that I literally shed a tear or more over. The 1st was Amazing Spider-man #36 vol. 2 (The September 11th issue). And the other was the Sam Loeb (late son of comic scribe Jeph Loeb) issue of Superman/Batman. Especially Jeph Loeb's short story "Sam's Story". Both of those stories were so moving for their obvious respective reason's and both are excellent examples of just how far reaching, moving, and resonate a comic book can be. To this day, when I hear someone say that comics are "kid's stuff", aside from showing them Batman:The Killing Joke, Watchmen, or Sin City, I show them Amazing #36 vol. 2 and Sam's Story. If anything, those 2 only show me that we've really dug up the tip of the iceburg when it comes to comics. The surface is still only slightly scratched, if you will.

Series enders are usually what do it for me...anyone remember the end of "Rising Stars"? It took forever, but it was beautiful in its continuity.
Also, I was jumping up and down at the end of "Superman: Red Son," but only because it was so freaking cool.
Agree/Disagree?
Another great show. Justin awesome shirt where did you get it!
An episode of THE STACK made me cry. The one where you guys talked about who you'd sleep with if you were comic book ladies. That one needs some vigorous rubbing out.
I agree with Justin on the Wonderlost comic. It was good, but a bit on the 'showoff' side.
i dunno, he only filled like, one comic.
Ok who called in and said they would cancel Wolverine? Not cool!!!
But hey thanks for calling.
Gee how bout he's in like every fricken Marvel comic now!? The caller said it; he's has too many titles....like Wolverine, Wolverine First Class, Wolverine: Origins, New Avengers, Logan, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimates 3, Any other X-Men titles I've missed (like five more I think), and will be in every Secret Invasion issue....
So we complain about Iron Man in every Marvel title, how bout this overrated peice of crap? He was cool in the old comics and the movies...now he's just used waaaaayyy too much. Tone it down Marvel.
It's pretty silly how many titles he has now. There have always been a ton of extraneous appearances, cover shots, cameos, etc but I dont think there have been this many regular books revolving around him before. The sad thing is, he really isnt very good in ANY of them. The main title, Woverine, has a different creative team every arc and no real continuity or connection to whats going on anywhere else. Origins really has nothing to do withhis Origins anymore, its just goofy adventures like the main title.
The death of Cassidy in Preacher made me cry like a baby.
I teared up in identity Crisis when tim drake looked at batman after they found his dad. Plus the page with Batman holding tim.
