let pete get a word in!

i've looked down on tv and movie tie-ins ever since 'a splinter of the minds eye' turned out not to be the second star wars film. cant trust em.

    • salsasharkproduction wrote on March 24, 11:13 am

That was easily the funniest show you guys have done so far. And Pete, for the love of god, go watch Firefly. Now.

    • Andy (guest) wrote on March 24, 11:31 am

I like tie-in comics to a certain extent. And by a certain extent I mean Star Wars Legacy and Dark Times.

As for Cancelled titles, its all about the old Busiek/Larsen Defenders Run.

They bleeped Justin, thats lame. But whats not lame is having the show 3 times a week. Keep it up!

Holy Crap Pete, how can you not have seen Firefly, or its movie spin-off Serenity? The best space western ever! Dude, check those boxes on Net-Flix and get those babies asap (but watch Firefly first).

Three Marvel titles again FTW! DC Sux!

Finger-banging Hilary, its just so wrong...I like it.

    • deadenderic wrote on March 24, 12:38 pm

Its really good to see that you guys are behind Hillary (pun intended)

      The Stack FTW!!

    • michael (guest) wrote on March 24, 12:41 pm

What happened to Pete's glasses? And I think it's funny that Pete and Justin matched. :)

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote on March 24, 1:50 pm

Why the hell would you review Black Panther? Who the **** reads that garbage?

I, for one, am getting sick of the Marvel bias here. Yes Marvel is the best company right now, but just ignoring DC is getting annoying. Your last three shows (including this and excluding's Friday show) has been nothing but Marvel titles. Stop with the B.S. about 'oh we'll get to it' or 'nothing is good out right now'...Shut it and review a damn DC comic on the top of the show.

We got Green Lantern, Checkmate, Countdown (sucks but it's a major title right now), Morrison's Batman, Superman, Booster Gold, Robin, and Nightwing...ALL great DC comics as of March 24th, 2008. So get off your Make Mine Marvel thoughts, and do some DC reviews damnit!!

Other then that....good show even with the Marvel bias.

Hilary Clinton? What was that all about? As a Canadian, I am not accustom to artists (yes, I view you guys as artists behind a medium) outrightly backing a political candidate/party. Subtlety guys, subtlety.

    • Stus wrote on March 24, 3:17 pm

Gotta say that I was a big fan of the Babylon 5 comics years ago -- one reason was that they were all JMS approved and part of accepted continuity.

I have occasionally picked up Star Trek comics, but usually where time travel and alternate world issues were involved -- I'm a sucker for that stuff.

Remember, other licensed stuff can be good like Conan, the Shadow and Doc Savage, and the old Millennium Wild Wild West series. And Kolchak -- Moonstone is doing a great job with their licensed series.

    • Stus wrote on March 24, 3:19 pm

About the whole Hillary sign -- possibly a bit tasteless but not less funny because of that.

As an Obama supporter, I wonder what you think he'd read in comics? John McCain (probably a Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos sort of guy)?

    • Bombardem wrote in reply on March 24, 3:44 pm

Obama is actually a comic book fan, according to a recent article I read. Not only that but he may be coming to the san diego comic con, which should be interesting that late in the election season.

    • goddamnyouhudlin (guest) wrote on March 24, 5:36 pm

Damn it Alex, this is the first time in some eight months of watching that I've ever disagreed with your opinion on a book.

Hudlin's Black Panther? Are you serious?
I'll give you a pass because it doesn't seem like you're familiar with the character, but I can tell (just from the preview pages alone) that this issue is just as god-awful as the previous 34. A bunch of background characters with no personality, a sister that isn't supposed to exist, a mother who's supposed to be long dead, a country that's miraculously located on a coast, and T'Challa himself acting so disgustingly out of character...

The humor is puerile, there IS no character development, and Hudlin is continuing to destroy a guy who was once one of my favorite characters.

Alex, Justin, Pete, go read the previous run on the book. You can probably find them in a 25 cent bin somewhere. The first few arcs were collected in trade. That book was gold. This is trash.

      JUSTIN GOT BLEEPED?!

Go watch Firefly Pete. ALSO The first Buffy Omnibus is pretty cool because it has a comic version of the original Buffy movie but it's based on Joss Whedon's original screenplay and the story he originally wanted to tell. It's great.

    • proPete (guest) wrote on March 24, 7:02 pm

I like Pete, even though I don't like the Punisher. I disagree w/ Pete when he said, "Amazing Spider-Man blows right now" (2:24.)

It does not blow. This is the best Amazing Spidey's been Ultimate Spidey began. But I confess, much of what I like about the current Brand New Day series is the 3x/month and the rotating art teams (write/pencil/ink/color.)

    • jcandram wrote on March 24, 7:27 pm

hey baron von justin what's up with your shirt, I couldn't stop staring at it had to watch the show just to get over it. and you guys should do at least 3x a week.

    • Crazy wrote on March 24, 7:30 pm

I read Star Wars comics when I can. I read Legacy and Dark Times and Knights of The Old Republic. I've read the Dark Empire stuff, the stuff about Tales from the Old Republic detailing the origin of the Sith, their return in the form of Exar Kun, and their eventual defeat. I have read the Tim Zahn stories.

I don't read the books though. I don't have the imagination to form fantasy from only words.

I don't read Star Trek comics, but I may. I recently read "Star Trek Comics Alien Spotlight and I really liked those issues. Even the one John Byrne wrote. The only one I didn't like was the Alien Spotlight about the Borg.

For me, when they started going into time travel and paradoxes, I got really confused. I have trouble following those kinds of stories.

By the way, what's with the censorship?

    • kid who sucks but has potential (guest) wrote on March 25, 12:28 am

quit ganging up on pete guys and let him finish his opinions. You always make fun of him. 3x a week is real cool keep it up
heres my vote to make it 4 x a week

oh and pete, wash that cobra shirt. Venom shirt in the dryer?

I liked the first Dark Horse Star Wars series back in the 90's. Dark Empire(?) and a couple others that followed it. The Star Wars universe is actually pretty cool with its combination of magic, technology, and politics. I think it deserves MANY more films, just not ones made by Lucas.

Alien, Predator, and Terminator were other incredibly well done comics by Dark Horse. I used to buy any and all the runs I could get hold of those back then.

    • Lensman (guest) wrote on March 25, 8:03 am

I never used to read tv and movie tie-ins sinply becuase they are not official canon, and can be completely ignored by later episodes/sequals.

That said the official continiuations of Buffy: Season 8 and Angel:AtF have been amazing, wish Angel was going to be longer than a maxi-series but oh well. I think it is because these are official and essentially what is left of the shows and will not be (hopefully) ignored later down the road.

    • Joe Wagner (guest) wrote on March 25, 3:10 pm

We'll you may not like licensed product, but wasn't Justin wearing a Mirrorverse badge.

Yea..Justin!!!! I'll write you in the second issue...somehow.

    • hairballOne wrote on March 25, 8:29 pm

I'd have to agree with Alex that without continuity, the licensed books don't hold my interest. My biggest disappointment with the latest Serenity was that it didn't launch from the movie. Also, these books aren't very dynamic, (too busy copying screen shots instead of setting up nice page layouts perhaps). Loved the Marvel Star Wars run, but was strictly an adventure book and I was, like, 10 or something when I read them :)

I'd read a revival of Cloak & Dagger. Don't know why, but I'll buy just about anything with them in it.

    • Doorman wrote on March 25, 10:00 pm

Black Panther is totally underrated. I've enjoyed the dozen issues I've read of it. It's just not a fav of mine. I'll pick up crossovers into Black Panther and the odd other issues of interest.

star wars comics always seem so lame, to be honest.
when will jla become a good book again? and if you say when geoff johns writes it, you're probably right.

    • zack mckinley (guest) wrote on March 30, 7:51 pm

i love to read the eigth season of buffy because it was made with the original people who worked on the buffy series, the comic book is just so intwined with what the show was to the fans, and it is so realistic and it stays true to the show.

Here's a quick question for you - one that may seem a bit strange at first, but one I think needs to be asked: What comic is most in need of a update of its logo/title? I think the logo for Amazing Spider-Man is long past its prime and could benefit by a re-design. The common look of the logo seems to be the only aspect of a comic that companies NEVER change (aside from the addition of the word "New," that is...
