All right! Pete as Spider-Pimp! Or is it Abraham Spiderman? Either way, I see a mini-series coming up!

When I was thinking about comic covers I immediately thought of J.G. Jones' "52" work AND Kaare Andrews covers for "The Incredible Hulk" back when Bruce Jones was writing. Really beautiful and inventive stuff from both artists.

    • Clinton (anon) wrote on March 6, 11:38 am

This why I like THE STACK a very good show this time.

    • Bombardem wrote on March 6, 11:49 am

This is one of the things that ticks me off about the show, its utter lack of preperation. Why does it seem like you guys are hearing the viewer question for the first time? Why arent you reading this ahead of time, preparing an answer, and in this case how about getting some video of the covers you are supposed to be saying are your favorites, which you never even said so why even use that viewer question? Its stupid and half-assed. I swear the show gets worse every week.

    • imaginary dave wrote on March 7, 2:19 pm

      let it go!

    • Lusvell wrote on March 6, 12:23 pm

umm...then stop watching? that could be a solution I guess >_>...

    • Lusvell wrote on March 6, 12:26 pm

PS: Pete needs to choose his comics better. Dissing the GL comic? wtf is wrong with the guy? dont tell me he didnt read the Sinestro War Corps, cause then he needs to get slapped.

    • deadenderic wrote on March 6, 1:18 pm

Who cares if they don't sound prepared? This isn't CNN, its a show about comic books. Lighten up.
Im with Pete on the red lantern, mood ring crap. Whats next the pink lantern is powered by love? Like Captain Planet crap.
Any way, my favorite cover artist hands down is James Jean, the guy's a true fine artist. I wish he could do some interior work though.

    • Lusvell wrote on March 6, 2:34 pm

Actually there is a pink lantern in a way, they are not called pink lanterns, they are the ones that created the Star Saphire stone, and they were included in the explanation of the Blackest Night prophesy.

    • deadenderic wrote on March 6, 5:34 pm

Yet another reason why I make mine Marvel.

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 6, 1:26 pm

Pete is probably the only person in the UNIVERSE who hates the Green Lantern comics. Seriously, with no excuse at all he hates it...When you get a legimate excuse Pete then your just sounding like a little kid who hates just wants action and nothing else in comics.

Good show, actually good comic you reviewed. Unlike crap like Logan and Raven from last episode. Seriously, Raven was one of the worst things I read in awhile....and you recommended it! lol Plus, if you guys love Blue Beetle so much....why is it stuck in the Speed Round? I'm not saying the comics you focused today shouldnt be shown...but it seems like the series is always stuck in your Speed Round.

    • Lusvell wrote on March 6, 2:36 pm

you are right. I tried reading the Raven comic, but I stopped half-way through. I dont know if it was the uninteresting story, or the artist trying too hard to make a manga-nize style.

    • imaginary dave wrote on March 7, 2:20 pm

they are a bit shit though.

    • imaginary dave wrote on March 7, 2:24 pm

green lantern that is, not blue beetle.

    • Jesse (anon) wrote on March 6, 1:33 pm

i love pete. hes like the simon cowell of comic book reviewers

    • DrDoobious wrote on March 6, 2:42 pm

Pulpsecret has some of the angriest fans in the world

    • metamorphic wrote on March 6, 3:49 pm

      Why, you little.....!

Actually, I find Pulp Secret fans to be pretty darn good humoured. And people here seem to be able to disagree without it turning into some kind of weird playground scrap. (Except for Pete and Justin whose "end of episode battle" is not unlike watching failed tryouts for American Gladiators. Or maybe that's American Idol? I get those two shows confused...

    • Clive wrote on March 6, 4:33 pm

Good show guys. I can't believe you recommended Urban Monsters Pete. That comic is horrible.

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 6, 6:21 pm

Yeah, the fact that Pete loves this shows how inept he is on reviewing anything else.

He hates the one incredible DC title, and what people are claiming (like Alex) to be the one defining Green Lantern story in history...Yet he loves this crappy monster book with bad art, writing, and characters in it. I know your entitled to your opinion, but he gave more time for that comic then any Green Lantern stuff....Maybe he never read them in the first place?

    • imaginary dave wrote on March 7, 2:21 pm

no way! i bought persepolis because pete liked it and ill pick up rope burn for the same reason.

    • Tom Hehir (anon) wrote on March 6, 6:13 pm

Have to agree with Bombardem on the point that you guys should have showed a couple of covers to give us an idea what you were talking about, other than that, great show as always.

    • mrumsey (anon) wrote on March 6, 6:38 pm

Wow, Pete - I know you couldn't handle the number of characters in the Sinestro Corps War, but the GL hate is unreal. It isn't the book that's lame it's you, dude. Seriously, if you need to have it dumbed down for you just keep reading the Red Hulk.

    • Naimad (anon) wrote on March 6, 6:45 pm

hey i agree with pete. Who the hell cares about a red lantern. Hulk is amazing. It aint dumb down. Its well written. And by the way the Red lantern is driven on anger. Uhm i wonder where they took that idea from. A Red Hulk would kick a red lantern ass anyway.

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 6, 8:07 pm

Well written!? Your telling me a story by Jeph Loeb is well written!!!! He hasnt wrote a story well since Batman: The Long Halloween! Your telling me a whole sequence of the Iron Man Carrierjet landing on a New Jersey field with Iron-Man stated: Oh the humanity!, is better then Geoff Johns incredible writing on the GL universe?

Jesus, like Pete, you know nothing about good writing. Next your gonna tell me Loeb's work on Hulk is better then Alan Moore's third LXG story. lol...Unbelievable

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 6, 8:10 pm

Oh and I recall John's getting the idea of the Red Lanterns long before Loeb did his shitty work on Hulk. Remember, he's been thinking of this story for a couple of years now...He already knows the ending for Blackest Night...So dont say for a second that Loeb is smarter then Johns; not when he writes heroes like their 10 years old.

    • Lusvell wrote on March 7, 1:34 am

Wait, you are saying that the Red Hulk, something that only has seen 2 issues of publishing, is a lot better than the back-story that dates from 1985 first mentioned in an Alan Moore storyline, the Sinestro Corps War, and the Blackest Night prophesy???

Um, I know this is all about freedom of opinion and all, but really, there's a huuuge distance that the Red Hulk storyline needs to cover if it wants to catch up and surpass anything that the GL storylines have done in the past few years. It's kinda like TheNextChampion said, Loeb is kinda overrated at the moment, and really there's no comparasion between him and Geoff Johns at the moment.

    • Naimad (anon) wrote on March 7, 1:15 pm

Those two issues of red hulk is just as good as those DC (dumb comics) Green lantern stories which been going on for a while. Dont get me wrong Geoff Johns is one hell of a writer but it dosent always have to be about debate and theory to make a story good. Good writing consist also of murder, mystery, suspense, and some good action. Jeph Loeb brings all that to the table in Red Hulk which he only took two, and I repeat TWO issues to do. Probably by the fifth issue you'll see how amazing it is. And as i said before a Red hulk would kick a Red lantern ass anyway.

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 7, 2:03 pm

Well I wont debate on who would kick each other's ass...We havent seen the Red Lantern's powers yet.

But if you like Red Hulk, that's your opinion. I dont mean to be an ass dude, I just think your dead wrong about which is better at the moment. Green Lantern is a bit slow at the moment because it just came off the heels of the best DC storyline in recent history.

Maybe Loeb will bring Hulk around...But right now his track record shows that wont happen....I hope I am wrong though.

    • Naimad (anon) wrote on March 7, 4:28 pm

You made a good point and I won't argue with that.

    • Bombardem wrote on March 8, 12:32 am

From an outside observers standpoint, because I've not read any of this GL stuff, I do have to say the whole rainbow coalition of Lanterns is beginning to look almost as silly as the whole kryptonite of many colors thing from the silver age. Just when DC is trying to shrink, simplify, and consolidate its universe we have this guy making it larger, more complicated, and adding universes...typical DC.

    • mrumsey (anon) wrote on March 9, 3:03 pm

Actually, if you bothered to read it you'd understand why it's so cool. In a nutshell, the GL's are powered by harnesses willpower of which is colored green. The other strong emotions are also able to be harnesses and appear as other colors in the ROYGBIV spectrum. Only the farther away from the center you are, the more likely the power is going to control you versus you controlling it.

That makes a lot of sense and adds to the whole mythos. And, in the end, I'd rather have a universe that is growing and vibrant any day. Give me a multi-verse for that matter any day over "One More Day" thinking.

    • Bombardem wrote on March 9, 3:45 pm

I would have read it, except for one thing...
      DC Sucks!

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 9, 6:24 pm

      Cause it sucks....

Hey that's a simple minded answer....are you Pete!? lol

    • mrumsey (anon) wrote on March 9, 7:47 pm

"cuz DC sux and Marvel rulz"....Spoken like a true 10 year old!

After killing Cap and "One More Day" I would re-evaluate your quality standards a little bit if I were you.

    • naimad (anon) wrote on March 10, 8:25 am

ok i must say the one more day thing was a bas move by marvel. But the death of captain america was good. It cant always be sweet and awesome going for these characters sometimes major tragic events got take place. Plus DC has screw ups too. They did well with the whole 52 thing but countdown . come on its a joke.

    • Naimad (anon) wrote on March 6, 6:41 pm

I just wanted to say that John Romita Jr. is my favorite artist too. His drawings are so simple but yet so complex. Itz amazing. I also like Francis Manapul. I think he can give Jim Lee a run for his money.

    • Clinton (anon) wrote on March 6, 6:51 pm

Yes Yes you can see JIM LEE & STAN LEE on youtube just right there names

    • Fonlon wrote on March 6, 9:52 pm

    • js097 (anon) wrote on March 7, 1:18 am

Been watching the show for a few weeks. A couple of comments for you:

      1) Never laugh at your own jokes. You can laugh at someone else's jokes not your own. It just looks bad.

      2) Sometimes your reviews are well substantiated, but a critique needs to offer more than "it sucked." This is why your speed round is kind of silly.

      3) I love to see the art panels. Nice touch.

Would like to see more creator interviews/news/etc. instead of round table discusssion.

      Thanks!

    • Lusvell wrote on March 7, 1:47 am

Hahaha, this whole episode has become a 'get into the hate Pete-bandwagon". Sorry dude. Although I doubt you read this little section, but it's usually a bad idea to diss a comic thats loved by more than 75% of the comic book community.

    • Doorman wrote on March 9, 2:35 pm

75%? Where do you come up with that number?

    • Lusvell wrote on March 9, 8:28 pm

I dunno, it just came out dude. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. All I know is that I have yet to hear anyone saying that they didnt like the Sinestro Corps saga, unless they are real nut-heads, or have their heads so far stuck up on Marvel's ass. Really, people should judge the quality of the comic itself, not be a complete douchebag and throw down fanboyism around over which company is better.

    • Bombardem wrote on March 10, 1:37 am

Your saying Pete has his head stuck up Marvels ass because he didnt like it? Because he didnt, and said so. He even gave a reason, too many characters, which in itself is a rarity for Pete. Sounds reasonable enough to me. I also agree with Pete's reasoning as it applies to most comics. Too many characters, too many words, make for a bad comic most of the time.

    • Lusvell wrote on March 10, 11:41 am

I was actually referring to you, but hey, you can look at it that way too. Any way you see it, you are no fan of comics at all, you are a fan of a corporation, and thats sad, considering you are supposed to be older and mature enough to know better. And the same goes for Pete too.

    • Bombardem wrote on March 10, 12:02 pm

I never voiced any opinion of the Sinestro War so how could you be referring to me? You on the other hand have a habit of making up figures, and attributing statements to people. Certainly I'm a fan of the business end of comics, and film, its fascinating. How does that make me not a fan of comics, or film? The two are not mutually exclusive concepts.
      BTW, DC sucks...

    • Lusvell wrote on March 10, 12:46 pm

ive just bought persepolis and im looking forward to reading it - if its as good as umbrella academy which i bought on your recco, ill be happy.

i know im a week late, but my wtf moment was sitting on the sofa reading the last chapter of watchmen when i was still living with my parents, my family around me chatting the usual fart, and me thinking you poor fools have no idea what im reading.

what do you think are the chances of the film version having that effect on anyone? the smiley face watchmen gets my fave cover too. a little obsessed.

I will get back to my post last week, where I said the dramatics are distracting. I preferred the episodes when there was more maturity displayed. Hard to take reviewers seriously when they are putting on a show...

It is okay to have fun and all when reviewing but if I want to watch a slapstick, there are a lot better shows to spend time watching. I really enjoy the reviews when some thought is put into them and there is less Abbott and Costello going on...

Come on guys, focus a little...

    • InitiativeCardHolder (anon) wrote on March 10, 12:49 pm

I have to agree with Pete!!!!!

Green Lantern is becoming all mood ringy. I find the GREEN lanterns a little less special now that they are hitting the crayola box.

Marvel's big events have a lot more depth. Even if they don't always capitilize on the full potential. It is I'm Emotional!!! (GL) vs I'm Political (Marvel).

And even though the red hulk is kind of emotional, its story very much ties into the Marvel world (and the complications of the initiatve).

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on March 10, 2:47 pm

      So....where's the new episode? lol

I mean I could go on saying why these guys are wrong about GL and why it is the best thing going in comics right now...But I would love to see the new episode.
