Good show guys. Jason and Andrew are okay, but Paul is definitely my favorite part of the show.

Which comic book character would I date? Dupli-Kate of course. HOT

Just a comment about the site. Wondering if you guys could change it so that when you open the comments section, the video does not automatically load and start playing? That's pretty annoying.

If you are using Firefox for your browsing, I strongly suggest Adblocker Plus, it lets you block anything on a web page permanently. I can block this video from playing, and just click on the 'Download for Windows' link when I actually want to view it. Adblocker works extremely well on Newsarama too, for all their advertising, poof its all gone. I dont know if there is anything similar available for IE.

Jason, Andrew, and Paul? Are you watching the Earth-2 version of Pulp Secret?

    • zeus417 wrote on February 4, 12:29 pm

I half expected Alex to choose Cypher. HEY-O!!

I just cant get interested in another ClanDestine relaunch. Davis is notoriously slow, so I cant imagine he'll be doing it long.
I dont like the art on that Detective Comics, way too over the top cartoony. I particularly dont like it done on Batman stories. Keep Batman about dark crime stories, and good detective work. We dont need to head back to the silliness of the silver age. Its a shame Ed Brubaker isnt writing it.

The art on that Unc X-Men is really different. I dont know whether I like it yet or not. We had fun a week or two ago in the forums when people writing their own scripts for what was happening in that balloonless preview.
I'd date Linsner's Dawn, or Tucci's Shi. Alex, Kitty? Really? I look forward to your appearance on Dateline soon.

      Isn't Jean Grey dead?
      thats just gross, Justin
      My pick is Mary Marvel

    • Marcus wrote on February 4, 1:13 pm

Great show you three. I think i'll check out Uncanny X-Men #495 if it's a good jumping on point.

Who'd I'd date? Probably, Mary Marvel.

What!? No love for Green Lantern, Death of The New Gods, Countdown and Countdown to adventure? BUMMER

As to who I will date? I used to be all gaga over Wanda Maximoff but she went ahead and got crazy. I would like to go out this time with either Donna Troy and Wonder Woman. Both are always drawn pretty has some pretty interesting assets, and I've always loved them.

"it's like you give Cliff Notes" haha, best comment ever on Pete's style!

Sometimes you all have valid points that I agree with but Pete seems to have a hard time explaining, to the viewer, his view points on a certain comic.

I would guess his lack of interest in some but really, whereas Justin and Alex are able to explain things coherently to us, it's sometimes baffling as to what Pete is trying to say during a review.

I'm not trying to be mean, it just how he comes across sometimes. ;)

That was the funniest episode since the Insult Explosion episode some weeks back. Yous are some funny bastards.
I like that you use the speed round to talk about some books that don't get as many sales. What do you think of the Dark Knight Strikes Again? I think generally it's scoffed at compared to the Dark Knight Returns, but I like it better that the Dark Knight Returns. I find the social and poliiical landscape in DK2 to mirror the near future: the media controllingl the masses, a president that is a hop-skip from a dictator, and a population who can only be rallied to rise up against an authoritarian government by a superheroine girl band. And love the abstract style of the art. It's a great action/adventure, though it's more of a Justice League story than a Batman one.
Am I the only one who likes DK2?
      Welcome to Ramble City.

Yes. You are the only one who likes... ahem... cough... D-K-2 as you put it.

Hands down, I'm in love with Grace Choi.
Yes I know she has a preference for woman over men, but I'm willing to take the chance. Just hope she's not that rough.

Sweet-ass episode, glad to know Detective Comics doesn't suck and PAUL DINI is awesome as ever! :D LOL I got the running joke with "Jason", it was the X-Factor episode I think.

What is Black Summer about? No clue.

The last segment was the best, but dude Ellen Page played Kitty Pryde. Wise choice, Alex ;)

      Great voicemail, so totally agree.

When are you guys bringing over the "Alex is a ROBOT!" joke from Comic Book Club over to the Stack?! :D

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on February 5, 1:21 pm

I've always like Paul Dini's work, even if I am a huge fanboy of the Animated Series. Dini knows how to entertain a comic fan and his Batman has always been the best. Mix him and Bruce Timm again, and we got a kick ass comic...But this issue was pretty good without Timm.

Although I would like to know what you guys think of Morrison's run on Batman? The idea of him dying is looking pretty good and having Bat-Mite as the main character is a bit odd. But it is the best Batman comic out there, so just curious if you read that yet.

Kitty Pryde! Alex you nailed it. (no pun intended)
Gotta love the hot Jewish girl.

'course, just date Mystique and have her be Kitty-Pryde shaped.

    • GregM wrote on February 6, 1:50 am

The obvious answer to who to date is (depending on your preference) MODOM or MODOK.

      Why?

Well, if you thought a little head was fun...!

    • Apocrypha wrote on February 6, 7:44 am

That replacement for Rambo is.....weird. I must say though, the look on Alex's face is pretty intense. I think I saw "Ray Beams"™ coming out his eyes.

i'd go out with penny century from locas, judge anderson or orihime from bleach.

      great show!

Alex is a NERD but Justin and Pete is Cool

    Uncanny X-Men #495, Detective Comics #841 and Clandestine #1

We've got THREE Newsarama Sneak Reviews in this episode. First, Uncanny X-Men follows up the conclusion of the Messiah Complex. It's a great jumping on point for anyone unfamiliar with the X-Men if such a person actually exists.

Then, we get a Batman Animated series feeling from Detective Comics #841, helmed by Paul Dini. We take back all the bad things we said about Paul Dini.

And we got our hands on the premiere issue of Clandestine #1, slated to hit the stands on Wednesday. Alex recommends it based on the artwork alone, but is it worth picking up?

Then in the speed round, we check out Fist of Justice #1, Captain America #34, Black Adam #6, Black Summer #5 and Madman #6.

Today in the Stack Mailbag, we tell you which comic book characters we would date if we could. Who wouldn't want a superhero for their valentine?

Head over to our forums to talk about today's episode with other comic book fans like you!
