I'm surprised Pete didn't mention the Punisher/Archie crossover. I've heard great things about that one!

No Y the last man love? maybe next episode.
other than that, good episode . nothing amazing. not enough action scenes or death for me.

    • a_goon_fan wrote on January 31, 11:33 am

I think Daredevil arc is really good and it just seems like it's lacking a little "bang" after reading his run on Captain America. Which #34 was another killer issue...Another cool show guys, keep up the good work...

    • deadenderic wrote on January 31, 1:30 pm

I'd like to see Batman cross over into the Marvel universe forever. He's the only DC character I ever really dug and I think he would fit right in.

    • felipo555 wrote in reply on February 1, 8:32 am

      joe quesada said exactly that

    • Bombardem wrote on January 31, 1:47 pm

Another action-packed, and by action-packed I mean boring, episode. Might I suggest you just make a Pete doll and record his comments from any show about any book "too many words, not enough action", it would save his salary and you could use it to make the show more interesting...

    • Shinobi Shaw wrote in reply on February 1, 2:41 am

      Right on!

    • Clive wrote on January 31, 2:15 pm

Wow Bombardem, way to be a jerk.

Pete, if you happen to read this, you are my favorite part of the show. My opinions normally mesh completely with yours. Punisher is by far my favorite Marvel book being released right now, and I too dislike the talking with no action.

I thought the show was great. Can't wait to see what you guys think about the last Y: The last man, and kinda disappointed that you haven't discussed the end of Messiah Complex any.

Also, all DC/Marvel crossovers will suck. They are in different universes for a reason, and none of them feel like they should be in the other, to me.

Although a Punisher crossover where he is hunting down DC villians (or heroes), would be pretty damn cool.

    • TheNextChampion (anon) wrote on January 31, 2:23 pm

Ok so you ask us to comment what you should do to improve the show....and what do you do? Ignore them and do another 3 Marvel titles! Hooray it's like voting for a president! lol

Seriously where the hell is Y: The Last Man? You guys hyped the hell out of it on the main page and you dont review it? Not only that but no Captain America review? Jesus two MAJOR events in the world of comics in 2008 and not even a mention of it...What are you guys on?

I mean it was still a good show, but I'm sure the majority of your audience was expecting more then Daredevil and a lame Spider-Man: One Shot. Also, DC had a great Countdown, finale to Black Adam: the Dark Age, Death of the New Gods, and a really great Morrison Batman story arc...yet no mention of it what so ever...Getting a paycheck from Marvel much?

    • plasticbugs wrote in reply on January 31, 4:03 pm

A special Y The Last Man episode is coming in the next day or so. Stay tuned.

    • plasticbugs wrote in reply on January 31, 4:05 pm

We ran short on time and didn't get a chance to address the whole Marvel/DC thing. That said, watch next week for shows that include Marvel and DC reviews/sneak reviews.

    • Alexander Zalben wrote in reply on January 31, 5:53 pm

Tomorrow: Y The Last Man Special!
      Next Week: DC Reviews!

    • Bombardem wrote on January 31, 2:56 pm

C'mon, everyone is covering Y: The Last Man, Messiah Complex, and Captain America #34, you cant expect them to report the actual important news, besides no one sent them a 6 page preview of those books to read and use as greenscreen backgrounds...Thats what Fresh Ink on G4 is for.

    • Alexander Zalben wrote in reply on January 31, 5:54 pm

FYI, we only review things we've read the entire issues of. Don't be a hater.

    • Bombardem wrote in reply on February 2, 12:31 pm

If you want to see someone intelligently, and enthusiastically, and professionally discuss the important books from this week, in essentially the same format, then watch Fresh Ink
      http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/tag/72/Fresh_Ink.html
Now I hate G4, and refuse to watch anything on their channel, but this web show is always good and I actually believe they read comics.

harhar. Every night I pray to god to gain the ability to punch someone in the face over standard tcp/ip. :)

    • Greta wrote on January 31, 4:17 pm

darkseid vs. galactus by byrne was cool....

i was thinking if you extend your speed round to balance what your in depth reviews covered...say for example this week you covered marvel in depth and your speed round you talked up dc and some indie...thats cool, now just add a few more indie books to the speed round, ya know..?

    • leland222 wrote on January 31, 4:34 pm

Pete rules and everyone knows it. PLUS Pete was right about Spider-Man: With Great Power. It really was Peter being a douche bag and crashing his car. I wouldn't recommend it but I'm a sucker and will be the next issue anyways.

God I love The Stack. I can't wait for Mondays and Thursday. Keep up the awesome work guys. I WANT LONGER SHOWS!

    • HipHopHead wrote on January 31, 5:29 pm

It would have to be the very first one: Spider-Man vs. Superman. The story wasn't to bad, Green Goblin was still dead, so they had to use Dr. Octopus (who at that time was Spidey's greatest foe) and Superman's number one Lex Luthor. No trap doors, no amalgamating. Great art and an oversized comic. Only $1!!!

    • Joxer wrote in reply on February 4, 9:35 pm

YES! I was so freaked out when the Superman/Spider-man crossover came out! Ranked right up there with 6 armed Spider-man and Superman vs. GL (with the TT intro comic inside).

Why didn't this episode work in iTunes???

    • jcandram wrote on January 31, 5:51 pm

I'm sure this has been ask before but why are all your segments about 10 minutes long? I could put up with you guys for another 5 minutes longer to cover more books. I mean that in a good way, I enjoy listening to you three banter about books.

    • Bombardem wrote on January 31, 6:12 pm

The best company crossover was DC/Dark Horse ala Batman vs Grendel. It actually worked without being hokey at all. But the best Marvel vs DC had to be Superman vs Masters of the Universe! By the power of Greyskull!

    • Apocrypha wrote on January 31, 6:45 pm

Hmm, TheNextChampion, Mice Templar isn't a Marvel title. Although, there does seem to be even less DC titles talked about than other publishers.

    • omechron wrote on January 31, 10:20 pm

Actually there have been some Marvel/DC crossover events without all the pomp and circumstance and the random fighting. There were a pair of Spider-Man/Batman crossovers that did that really well.

One was Spider-Man and Batman VS Carnage and Joker, and one started out as Spider-Man and Batman VS The Kingpin and Ras Al Ghul but kind of became "The Kingpin VS Ras Al Ghul While Spider-Man and Batman Run Around And Get In The Way".

There was also an X-Men and Teen Titans VS Darkseid, Deathstroke and Dark Phoenix and that one had no hero-vs-hero and no strange dimensional doors either.

    • the kid who sucks but has potential wrote on January 31, 10:22 pm

Hey, I enjoyed JLA Avengers! I consider that the crown Jewel of my collection.

Anyway, whats up with that commercial? Fire those actors please! Yuck Yuck!

Also, I tenth the motion to make the show longer. Why limit yourselves to just 10 mins?

    • omechron wrote on January 31, 10:23 pm

Oh, and I love Serious Justin. Is that the Ultimate Justin? Or maybe the Justin from the Zombieverse? The Antimatter Universe?

Can we keep this new Justin?

    • Deves wrote on February 1, 3:11 am

Honestly came across this web show thingy last month and i love wat u guys are doing. I dont get to buy comics as much anymore so it really helps me out.

    • RaikoLives wrote on February 2, 9:46 am

If this arc of Ult X-Men is better than... say... being stabbed in the eye with a pen, then maybe, MAYBE it will save Kirkman's whole run. But honestly, why WHY make Cable (the last NON-Wolverine story)... ABOUT WOLVERINE!?!?! It's just plain awful. The art's been awful for months now, and the whole title is just bad. But I keep buying it...

    • xxsuperboyxx wrote on February 2, 9:46 am

i personally like the batman vs spawn. that was a good book

    • ZeroCorpse wrote on February 11, 12:51 am

In regards to Spider-Man With Great Power #1, I have to say I hated it. I've been reading Spider-Man since the late 1970s, and I was pretty disappointed with this story's blatant disregard for some long-standing Spider-Man facts. For example, the whole angle with the car completely ignores the fact that Pete doesn't drive. He doesn't even have a driver's license, and never learned to drive. He made this clear recently, in New Avengers, and he made it clear back when he had the Spider-Mobile. Peter Parker never learned to drive because he's been slinging webs since before he could have gotten a license. I also disliked the idea of the wrestling promotion being retconned to be like the modern WWE, instead of being a small promotion that pays people to step in the ring. Now Spider-Man has become the Marvel equivalent of Rey Mysterio turned into a real superhero, and that's just dumb. Rewriting Pete's time after the spider bit him into something where he's challenging Flash to races and fights, and making him act like an asshole until Uncle Ben gets shot is not going to 'flesh out' the character. It will only weaken the work done by previous writers, and further the drastic retcon going on in the Spider-Man stories.

Comic Book Reviews: Spider-man With Great Power #1, Ultimate X-Men #90 and Daredevil #104

First up is Issue #90 of Ultimate X-Men, which is setting up the end of the Robert Kirkman arc (which is ending with issue #93).

We're not too sure about the Mr. Fear plot line in Daredevil #104. Do we think there might be too many problems with this book? Watch the show and find out.

Spider-man WGP is set in the time after Peter Parker was bitten by the spider but before Uncle Ben dies. Basically, young Spider-man is out there acting irresponsibly. The guys are split on this book. Watch the show and find out why.

Then in the speed round we talk about Superman Confidential #11, Afterburn #1, Mice Templar #3, Crime Bible the Five Lessons of Blood #4, and Wonder Woman #16.

In today's viewer mail, ODouglasJ on YouTube asks us what we think were the best/most successful Marvel and DC crossovers, where the two publishers collaborated to make their universes meet.
