I definately bag & board all of my comics. I just can't part with them, and I wouldn't even know how to do so if I ever wanted to.

I'm going to pass on your review to my girlfriend for Cemetary Blues since she's into a lot of mystery/monster books.

Where should we write in and or send a picture to? I'm guessing the regular "tips" email adress?

    • plasticbugs (anon) wrote on January 24, 12:53 pm

Yep, send them in to tips@pulpsecret.com. Thanks!

I bag and board, but i have no clue what any of my comics are worth. I stopped looking up prices of comics in the mid-nineties, go figure.

n the new spider-man issue is balls...

Well, I agree with ALL of your reviews today, actually. Man, I can't wait to hear what you guys think about the end of Messiah Complex though.

Also, cracking up at Justin continuously almost hitting Pete in the face with a chainsaw.

I bag and board my comics, and usually end up saving them for a few years, before selling them to buy a video game or something.

What B, C, or D-list superhero from Marvel or DC to get it's own cartoon show, TV show, and Movie?

    • Human Eclipse (anon) wrote on January 24, 2:55 pm

I bag and board all of my comics. 99.9% of them are in footlockers that I call Comic Book Boxes. I have six or seven and I'm almost in need of another one. I also take my subscription comics and put them into bags, without boards, and thumbtack the bags to my wall in a nice, neat, little order. I just can't get rid of them.

      What is Fell about?

    • Bombardem wrote on January 24, 6:37 pm

Fell is a fetective comic, and the main characters name.

    • Apocrypha wrote on January 24, 7:50 pm

Definitely like Fell a lot since #1. The only real problem with it is the schedule. In that there doesn't appear to really be one. Unless you consider in between Ellis' binges to be a proper schedule. ;) I think maybe 3 issues came out in 2007. He did say in the back of the latest issue that he hopes to have them coming out sooner this year. The TPB are always available still though I think.

    • Apocrypha wrote on January 24, 8:00 pm

Automaton: "Fell" is about a police detective who for some reason gets re-assigned to "across the bridge" to Snow Town. A seedy place to say the least. Each issue is a self contained story about what Detective Fell sees and does during the course of his job. It's kind of like an episode of a cop show with detectives in it.
Each issue is 16 pages, no ads with extra "back matter" pages that contain the ramblings of Warren Ellis about the issue or whatever he feels like talking about. It's all worth reading and worth the $1.99 cover price.

What up guys, can I get a shirt?

    • taykev24 wrote on January 25, 4:58 pm

Instead of saying "Hey guys, whats up?" I'll say "Yo Dudemasters? What do you think of those gnarly Ninja Turtles?" I picked up the recent issue (#43) of "Tales of the TMNT" and found it to be one of the most fun single issues I've picked up in recent history. I enjoy Jim Lawson's unique art style and this issue reminded me of my childhood. I remember Pete once saying he got started with TMNT as a kid, do you guys still find the Turtles to be tubular or are they just bogus nowadays?

    • taykev24 wrote on January 25, 5:15 pm

Oh poop! I meant "Tales of the TMNT issue #42!" Araghhh, my previous post made no sense since #43 doesn't exist yet! Drats! Why didn't I proofread my comment for the 6th time before posting?

Anywho, what are your feelings regarding the Ninja Turtles and their recent stuff?

With my comics, I bag and board them, then keep them in assorted piles around my apartment to read at my leisure. Once every couple of months, I go through them and sell the ones that I know that I won't read again (or at least over and over again). My much older ones that aren't in mint condition that I won't read again (that I picked up or bought in lots), I donate.

Comics: Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons, The Umbrella Academy and more!

Virgin Comics' The Stranded debuts this week. Does the artwork and Mike Carey's story hold up to the scrutiny of The Stack? And we're loving Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons. Issue 2 hits stands this week and sadly there's only one more issue left.

Shadowline's Cemetery Blues #1 is, according to Pete, "a lot of fun". It's a monster hunt set in the past. Then in the speed round, we're talking about The Umbrella Academy #5, Amazing Spider-man #547, New Exiles #1, Fell, and Fear Agent.

In the mailbag, a YouTube user asks what we think about speculative comic book purchasing today and how it compares to the level of collecting in the 90s. Are comics for reading or for collecting?

Plus, we get a special visit from Erik of Indymogul.com. Check out his instructions for making your own chainsaw hand here.
