If the crossovers werent so good, I'd probably be getting tired of them. I dont much vary from my subscriptions so if a crossover swerves into books I dont usually order, well thats just too bad. I've always been that way, theres no way I'm buying x-factor or some other crappy book just because of a crossover, which I think is the main reason they do crossovers, to bump sales on books that no one reads. The other thing they do I hate is when they put some popular character on the cover or into a crappy book just to trick people into buying it. Wolverine is usually the cover whore.
What do you think about Frank Frazetta's Death dealer and upcoming Frazetta comics?
Ive also been addicted to collecting Nightmare on elm st, TCM and Friday the 13th comics by Wildstorm. Any thoughts about Freddy vs Jason vs Ash? The cliffhanger for #3 was awsome.
Warren Ellis as a Radio Shack manager. That's hilarious stuff.
Another day, another non-Powers conversation
I am sad
What bugs me the most about 'One More Day' is that all of these storylines I've been picking up or looking up old issues...is that they mean nothing now! What is the point of picking up any of the 80's to 00's Spiderman Titles if they now mean nothing? Sure we get rid of this Mystical Spider-Man crap storyline; but now we lose the classic stories and some of the graphic novels are meaningless.
It would've made more sense to kill of Aunt May because no one gives about her. Someone come up and say they will miss May cause I can guarentte that no one would care if she died. Again I'm not saying I am a supporter of the MJ/Parker marriage...but if they just wanted to get rid of that plot device...then why not kill her off? It would've been alot cooler then wasting twenty years of my life. :(
"Someone come up and say they will miss May cause I can guarentte that no one would care if she died."
Your Right Except for the fact that Peter would. He became Spiderman when his uncle died so i think it would be out of character for him to let Aunt May die. Also [IMO] I think its nice to have the real Spidey back.
Did Justin even read Legion of Super-Heroes #37? Or is he just reviewing based on the past rumors that they were rebooting the Legion again when Jim Shooter came on?
How did Shooter disregard previous continuity? Lightning Lad is leader. Just like he became last issue. Princess Projectra gets a follow up to her homeworld getting destroyed WAY back at the beginning of this new version of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Thanks to the cover we know they are all getting new costumes in the very near future. But in the issue itself they are all still wearing the same costumes that Kitson put them in. So really. I want to know. How did Shooter disregard previous continuity?
I rarely read the comics I review, it's so much easier to guess...Of course I read it and the issues I had with it were: Timber Wolf was just feralized in the last arc and in this seemed completely normal, Invisible Kid just had his arm torn off and he's back to normal but the bigger issue is that the tone and heart of each character seems totally different. I can understand a new writer going in a new direction but these changes were so abrupt: Lightning Lad carelessly endangering his friends because he's stressed. It's a good idea but it needs more set up in my mind before the readers will all get on board...
I knew you didn't read the comics you review! You probably just let your Pete Hand puppet read them and he tells you what happened.
And while some of the character personalities may be off. The point I'm making is that LoSH #37 did not break off from the continuity of the previous issues. Maybe Timber Wolf can change back and forth between feral and human. Maybe Invisible Kid has a cybernetic arm like Lightning Lad(and later Live Wire) had. We never saw his bare arm.
As for the tone and, let's say voice, of the characters being different. Well yes. I thought the voice of some of the characters were different between Waid and Bedard. So a new writer is going to write them differently. Lightning Lad had never had so much responsibility thrown on him all at once. I think it's good they dived right into that plot line rather then wade in. That's why it's called "Being dropped into the deep end" He hasn't had time yet to really learn how to lead so it's all overwelming. It's not carelessness. It's having too much responsibility and trying to be too careful, then causing him to make mistakes. Such as accidently mixing up Ultra Boy and Invisible Kid's assignments.
hey guys just wanted to say thanks. I read about hero by night and when i got to my local comic book store it was the last one on the shelf so i bought it and it was great.
i also wanted to thank you guys for the hours of entertainment that you bring and the amazing advice.
your biggest fan from ireland

How would you guys feel if by this time next year, Marvel has undone the end result of "One More Day?"
I think more than a few fans are a little ticked at the wiping out of 20 years of Spiderman continuity, but I would like to know how those fans would feel if this story were reversed after a year? Would everything be all right with the Spiderman world again, or would you feel like you wasted your time following this storyline?
By the way, I haven't read a Spiderman book since the beginning of the Spiderman Clone saga. I was really deep into Spiderman until that time. This storyline does not make me want to jump back into Spiderman.
That is a fantastic question. Seriously.
^^
I think that I would just be happy that this whole debacle would be over if they recon the recon of this universe. lol Seriously I could tolerate if they wipe this storyline out and go back to what Spider-Man was after Civil War. Or maybe Marvel can release a What If? story and see what if Aunt May did die and Mephisto was not involved...Would be more entertaining than this smelly peice of trash.
Dear Alex, Justin and "it blows" Pete.
i was wondering whether you know anything about a release date for the final TPB for Y:the last man. it's a fantastic series and i thought volume 9 was the final volume, to my horror it was not.
so if you could just run over that real quick for me that'd be great.
yours sincerly mikey.
June 3rd, 2008! (That's this year, FYI)
Hey guys! Remember that if you impersonate Pete, that the only way to tell if it's really him or not is, if he cringes at the sight of female anatomy! He hates boobies soooooo much he assulted his mother in the teeth once for brest feeding him as an infant!
My biggest problem with OMD is that regardless of how they go forward, regardless of how well or how poorly Brand New Day is written, Spider-Man is now a guy willing to make a deal with the devil. That's just not the Spider-Man I knew. And it's not a Spider-Man I care to read about.
Technical issue - your m4v encoding doesn't play back on the 360, just the ipod. All the other podcasts in h.264 play back fine- any chance of tweaking the encoding?
i kinda like the show without pete, he doesn't really offer anything smart and collective like Alex and Justin do.
