So are there any comics you won't review?
Like ones you collectivly hate so you wont go near them?
BALLS! HAHAHAHA... D&F joke never get old
I got into The Walking Dead late, and am sticking to the trade paperbacks so I'm a little behind in the issues, but I have to agree with Alex on the stories. I was a huge fan with the first few story arcs, but lately I find that it's just an orgy of violence with no story to speak of...in the TP#6 (This Sorrowful Life, issues 31-36), the scene where Michonne lays into Crazy Govenor Mustachio and tortures him is simply horrific. I mean, I'm into the whole zombie violence thing, and have no objection with it if it serves a purpose in the story, but I just didn’t see the point.
I think the story with this group of characters is circling the drain... how many times do we need to see Rick run off on another mission? I keep hoping that the book will branch off and follow another group instead so that I start to care about it again.
I havent gotten my New Avengers yet, and I just have one question. Why does Daredevil have boobs?
Comics from non-marvel off the top of my head: DMZ, Hellboy, Midnighter, AstroCity. Y tLM, Jonah Hex, Buffy Season 8, Conan, Criminal (& Sleeper!!!), Loveless, Testament, Witchblade...
BTW, first arc of Moon Knight rocked! How can you diss that when the covers alone (much like the Manhunter series) were worth the price of admission. Back to Marvel, why not even one shout out for the current Iron Fist run?
Kurt Busiek's Astro City, my pick for best comic series ever. Sadly it switches companies so often, and is so sporadically released, that its hard to keep track of. Busiek literally populated a Marvel size universe all by himself in a handful of issues, and his superheroes are far more interesting than anything in the DC or Marvel contimuities.
@Bombardem
Echo's inner-self wants to be like Daredevil.
@Bombardem - Yes! Astro City is Busiek's love letter to superheros and probably his best series (which is pretty impressive when you look at his collective work). I think the sporadic printing of the title has more to do with Busiek's health than switching publishers though.
Astro City is easily my favorite by Busiek, but your right his body of work is some of the best, and has truly set the industry on its ear a number of times. Thunderbolts totally blew everyone away when they were revealed as villains, and Marvels along with Ross's art blew everyone away. Isnt he masterminding the big summer x-over for DC next year? As to his health, since they found out the cause was mercury poisoning I'd hope they've repaired the damage since its often reversible. Now that he's signed that exclusive contract with DC I dont know what the status is on AC. I can only hope he's stockpiling stories for use at some time in the future.
How could you miss recommending any of the Sandman trades when you were mentioning DC titles???? As for current DC titles, both Batman and Detective are on an upswing these days, Brave and Bold is off to a good start, JSA and JLA are still excellent, Welcome to Tranquility is interesting, and it's a good time to (re)join Flash.
And Pete, as far as I'm concerned, you can wear shorts every week!
