The Collectapocalypse
September 18, 2007
The Collectapocalypse has begun.
Like so many other rabid comic book collectors and purists, it is absolutely essential to my very sanity and self-worth as a person that every single issue I own is in pristine, virginal supermint condition. It is also inherently imperative that each issue must stay in said condition until the bitter end of time itself, a frozen image of perfection, encased in a protective shell that would make Han Solo jealous.
Covers must keep an unmolested luster bright enough...

Comics > Movies
September 20, 2007
It is, on one hand, great that our favorite (and even not-so-favorite) comic characters are getting remade in premier, big-budget movies. On the other hand, it's not so great when we walk out of the theater disappointed. Even worse is when we voice said displeasure over such movies, we are often labeled as fanboys (or girls) who are simply impossible to appease. I am here to tell you all that it is not that we are impossible to please, but that comic book to film transfer cannot possibly please us...

Spoil Time Man New X-Men #45 was a ton-o-fun. That was some great fight sequences. It was so great to see Lady Deathstrike and it was even better seeing her go. I thought it was an interesting choice to have X-23 fight her instead of Wolverine. This was an action packed issue, except for Predator X. I feel like this is the meanwhile, back at the...They never really show Predator X doing anything. They just don't want us to forget that he is out there. Warpath got to show off his knike throwing...

Viewer Submitted Indies: Unbeatable, Redball 6 and DOSE!
January 3, 2008Some of our viewers don't just read comics, they MAKE them. Sometimes they send them in to us. We picked some of our favorites for this episode of The Stack.
- Unbeatable: an original graphic novel featuring some stunning artwork and a strong story.
- Redball 6: a detective comic set in an urban version of hell.
- DOSE: a collection of short comic pieces, done up Mad Magazine-style and written by people like Evan Dorkin and Alex Segura.
In the speed round, we get back to the mainstream with The Brave and The...

X-Factor!
January 12, 2008
Spoil Complex Oh, man things are really getting good now! The New X-Men stumble onto Predator X! and Wolverine Yells,"X-Force you know what to do!" I can’t wait to see two huge fights. Mr. Sinister didn’t last long. Mystique took care of that. We will see how long that lasts. All I am saying is if Wolverine calls your name out. Start running; otherwise you are going to get the claws. That was awesome! Sorry Lady Mastermind. I really can’t wait till the next issue. This is going to be the first comic I...

Messiah Complex
January 21, 2008
I have been loving this arc. Every comic has been solid. It is well written and the art rocks. The question is how does it stack up? Could Messiah complex be one of the greats? I would say so. So what is your top 3? My top 3 right now, 3. Y the Last Man 2. Messiah Complex 1. Punisher Max Garth Ennis’s run has been amazing. How about you? Top 3 right now?

Futurecasting the X-Men
January 25, 2008
Well, Messiah Complex has tucked itself in for a long winter's night. No Spoilers, but it was an interesting read and definitely puts the X-Universe in a Brand New Place. Which of the new series pique your interest? Which are destined to tank? Pros and Cons of the crossover?
I'm real excited about the upcoming Young X-Men title, I hope they continue on in the spirit of New X-Men. I've additionally got high hopes for Cable and X-Factor's new directions. X-Force could be interesting only because I love...

One hella of a baby
January 25, 2008
(Spoiler) Everyone is having babies from Salma Hayek to Cable? I thought Messiah Complex was a real fun, well drawn, and action written piece of work. Tip of the hat to you Marvel. Sure I wasn’t shocked when Professor Xavier took the bullet and I bet when he comes back he is in a wheel chair. But man that was good times. Sinister got punked, Lady Deathstrike had a nice chat with X-23, and Wolverine gutted Predator X! Yeah Mike Carey and Chris Bachalo! Some of the things got wrapped up a little too...

January 31, 2008First up is Issue #90 of Ultimate X-Men, which is setting up the end of the Robert Kirkman arc (which is ending with issue #93).
We're not too sure about the Mr. Fear plot line in Daredevil #104. Do we think there might be too many problems with this book? Watch the show and find out.
Spider-man WGP is set in the time after Peter Parker was bitten by the spider but before Uncle Ben dies. Basically, young Spider-man is out there acting irresponsibly. The guys are split on this book. Watch the show and find...

Uncanny X-Men #495, Detective Comics #841 and Clandestine #1
February 4, 2008We've got THREE Newsarama Sneak Reviews in this episode. First, Uncanny X-Men follows up the conclusion of the Messiah Complex. It's a great jumping on point for anyone unfamiliar with the X-Men if such a person actually exists.
Then, we get a Batman Animated series feeling from Detective Comics #841, helmed by Paul Dini. We take back all the bad things we said about Paul Dini. And we got our hands on the premiere issue of Clandestine #1, slated to hit the stands on Wednesday. Alex recommends it based on...

Guardians of The Galaxy #1, Tor #1, GeNext #1, and Viewer Mailbag
May 14, 2008Guardians of the Galaxy is a spin off of the Nova Galaxy and Annihilation Conquest. Pete's got issues with this one and Justin agrees. Alex says it's a great first issue. Then we all agree on Tor #1. It's fun and Joe Kubert's art is top notch. GeneXt #1 shows the grandchildren of the original X-Men and depicts them as actual kids. It's got a nice old school X-Men feel and brings in lots of old X-Men characters. Then in the Speed Round we've got Gemini #1, House of Mystery #1, Batman: Death...
