    • Hack/Slash Annual featuring The Suicide Girls and In Odd We Trust

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, JULY 11 2008 11:32 AM | PERMALINK

First up it's an early review of Hack/Slash Annual.  This book hasn't been released yet, so this is your chance to get a first look.  This novel features the Suicide Girls. Alex loves it and Justin agrees that you should definitely pick it up.  Then we look at Dean Koontz' In Odd We Trust.  Both Alex and Justin think this book is a good example of Manga written in a very American way.  During the Speed Round we check out Blue Beetle #28, Joker's Asylum #1, The Boys #20, Punisher War Journal #21,...

    • Cool Videos: Punisher War Zone Trailer

POSTED BY CHARLIE SCHNEIDER, JUNE 13 2008 12:58 AM | PERMALINK

The trailer for Punisher War Zone is up. As is the case with re-boots lately (see Incredible Hulk), this Frank Castle is much more dark and disturbed. Think of the movie as done more in homage to German Expressionism or Film Noir (though not as literally as Sin City). I actually stopped watching the original Thomas Jane Punisher mid-feature. I don't think this film will have a hard time topping the last. The word is this film will carry an "R" rating, so there is hope. If you've listened to Pete's...

    • Punisher Max #56, Amazing Spider-Girl #19 and Action Comics

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, APRIL 07 2008 11:11 AM | PERMALINK

We're liking Gary Frank's artwork in Action Comics #863, but Alex takes issue with the level of excitement in this issue.

The we've got another sneak review of Amazing Spider-Girl #19, a title we haven't yet reviewed on the show. It's pretty well done, but deals with a very small sphere of the Marvel universe.

And in the speed round we check out Reich #2, Cable #2, Young Avengers Present Wiccan & Speed, Anna Mercury #1 and Walking Dead #48.

In the mailbag, Ian asks us if there can be good villain books...

    • Walk the Line

POSTED BY CHARLIE SCHNEIDER, MARCH 14 2008 04:15 PM | PERMALINK

Why does it fascinate us as readers to read about the anti-heroes of the comic world? What does it mean to "Walk the Line" between justice and frenetic crime-fighting? Because who among us hasn't wished metaphorically for the power to strike down our enemies (be them imaginary or real). These types of characters like The Punisher, Wolverine, and the Red Hood all throw out the "crime fighting for conventional superheroes" book. The take it to the streets and play by their own rules....
