    • New Watchmen Posters

POSTED BY CHARLIE SCHNEIDER, JULY 31 2008 09:47 PM | PERMALINK

Warner Brothers has just posted some new movie posters for Watchmen. They were even nice enough to post high res versions. I'll say they were really promoting this movie hardcore at Comic Con last week. Everyone at the DC Booth (the employees) were wearing Watchmen T-shirts (which everyone wanted), and they even had the Owl Ship which will be featured in an upcoming Popular Mechanics article.

Has anyone read the article recently about how the visual style of Zach Snyder's Watchmen will differ...

    • Watchman in the Can

POSTED BY JUSTIN TYLER, FEBRUARY 20 2008 09:28 AM | PERMALINK

Zack Snyder, the director of the film adaptation of Watchmen, announced on his blog that principal photography is completed! The above Rorschach image is a little thank you to the dedicated fans. The film is set for a March 2009 release, about one year from now. Is the excitement building or what?

    • Shocker! Moore Takes Name Off "Watchmen" Movie

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, JANUARY 03 2008 12:00 PM | PERMALINK

Angry Ranting Comics Wizard (tm) Alan Moore has, in a shocking move unpredicted by anyone, taken his name off the Watchmen movie. Wizard, the #1 Men's Pop Culture Magazine, which also, FYI, covers comics*, has the scoop:

"I spoke to Dave [Gibbons, co-creator of Watchmen] the other day. I got a piece of paper—they must’ve learned something from the “V for Vendetta” debacle. I got a piece of paper a couple of months ago saying, “I, the undersigned, hereby give you permission to take my name off of the...

    • "Watchmen" Compared

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, DECEMBER 03 2007 02:00 PM | PERMALINK

      Maxim

      * has a feature online comparing how the recently released stills from the Watchmen movie compare to similar frames in the comic. So how do they compare? Um, really well.

My favorite thing I totally didn't notice at all the first time around is the kid reading the Tales of the Black Freighter comic. Awesome:

Check out the rest of the pic comparisons here.

*Huh? Maxim is a comic book fan site?

    • Rorschach Spotted!

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, NOVEMBER 27 2007 09:12 AM | PERMALINK

A few weeks ago we posted a clear as day picture of Rorschach which was not, in fact, from the upcoming Watchman film. Want to see what he really looks like?

If you do, you're going to have to look hard, and possibly put some sort of un-blur filter on your eyes, but here it is:

Yup, that's the mumbly detective himself, wandering through the Vancouver Watchmen set. The picture is part of a series posted by director Zach Snyder on his production blog, and was thrown in there with no announcement...

    • Comics > Movies

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, SEPTEMBER 20 2007 12:13 PM | PERMALINK

It is, on one hand, great that our favorite (and even not-so-favorite) comic characters are getting remade in premier, big-budget movies. On the other hand, it's not so great when we walk out of the theater disappointed. Even worse is when we voice said displeasure over such movies, we are often labeled as fanboys (or girls) who are simply impossible to appease. I am here to tell you all that it is not that we are impossible to please, but that comic book to film transfer cannot possibly please us...

    • This Week's "Watchmen" News...

POSTED BY CHRIS RUDOLPH, AUGUST 22 2007 06:00 PM | PERMALINK

Wizard had a quick chat with Zack Snyder, in which they talked about "Watchmen" going into production in a matter of weeks (what, did you think we would go a week without any "Watchmen" movie news?!). There are some interesting tidbits in the interview, like how Snyder got Dave Gibbons involved and had him draw the concept poster that debuted at San Diego Comic Con. It's interesting how Snyder combines his drawings with the original comic panels for his storyboards for the film, and when asked if...

    • Movie Insider Rates "Watchmen" Script

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 18 2007 04:11 PM | PERMALINK

If you think "The Watchmen" movie adaptation is such a massively interesting, obsession-rife fixation that I would cover a story on what the musical composer for the movie thinks of the script, well, you are right. Although, to his credit, we aren't talking about just any composer here. We are talking about Tyler Bates, who composed the excellently scored "300" movie and now is back together with Zach Snyder scoring "The Watchmen."

We are also talking about someone who has definitely read the script...

    • Snyder+R Rating+Pirates= Best Superhero Movie?

      POSTED BY , JULY 30 2007 03:15 PM | PERMALINK

Yes, so we knew what the "Watchmen" movie casting was by the time of the big CCI announcement. However, there were still some interesting tidbits of information delivered by director Zack Snyder during his address to the audience at the convention. Most notable is the suggestion that the movie will be R, and not PG-13.

Also notable is that the studio wants the plot for "Watchmen" to be “contemporized” out of the Cold War, while Snyder feels the story has to take place in the 80's (sadly after...

    • Watchmen Movie Casting Rumors, part two

      POSTED BY , JULY 24 2007 12:14 PM | PERMALINK

With official announcements regarding the upcoming Watchmen movie slated to be revealed this weekend at Comic Con, more and more early information is apparently leaking out regarding the casting for the project. While the internet rumor mill long had Jude Law pegged for the role of Ozymandias, the newest information puts the role in the hands of Matthew Goode. While I’m not a huge Jude Law fan, I thought he would have pulled off the arrogance and detachment of Veidt / Ozymandias very naturally,...
