Up first we look at X-Men #26.  Pete thinks this issue was fantastic.  Next up it's Final Crisis #3.  Alex reminds us about his million dollar bet with Pete.  Find out who has to pay up! Then it's Secret Invasion: Thor #1.  The guys like the perspective that the Secret Invasion satellite titles provide, and definitely think you should check it out.  During the Speed Round we check out Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas #2, Criminal #4, Crossed #0, The Twelve #7, and Chas: The Knowledge #2.  Then, Apollo writes in,...

    • Ms. Marvel #25, New Warriors #10 and New Avengers #39

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, MARCH 26 2008 11:26 AM | PERMALINK

We've got three Newsarama Reviews for you starting with Ms. Marvel #25, which deals with lots of Skrull stuff. But it tells the history using old-style comic artwork.

Then we check out New Warriors #10, where former mutants form a new super hero team. It's very similar to The Initiative, but we're not sure it's as good as The Initiative.

New Avengers #39, follows Echo and more of the Skrull story unfolds. We really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see where it goes from here.

      In the Speed...

Breaking News: Lead singer of My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way is calling Umbrella Academy his debut comic. BUT, we dug up a comic he published way back when he was in high school called "On Raven's Wings".

Mark Millar and John Romita take on real life people getting into superhero suits in Kick-Ass #1. This "real life" superhero even has a MySpace profile. Is this a gimmick or is it a book worth picking up? Find out in this review.

Is Thor #6 the Thor we've been waiting for? It's still early on in...

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, JANUARY 03 2008 11:17 AM | PERMALINK

      • Redball 6: a detective comic set in an urban version of hell.
      • DOSE: a collection of short comic pieces, done up Mad Magazine-style and written by people like Evan Dorkin and Alex Segura.

In the speed round, we get back to the mainstream with The Brave and The...

    • Thor Snatches Director

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 10 2007 01:00 PM | PERMALINK

It’s no secret that next year is going to mark a red-letter year for comic movies. We all know the franchises that are hitting the screen, and we (as comic fans) are extremely excited about most of them. When news of a Thor movie broke it didn’t seem inherently interesting, but that has changed with the naming of Matthew Vaughn as director. Don’t get me wrong, I like Thor (although I liked Beta Ray Bill more) as a comic character, I just felt the project was rife for mediocrity in the wrong...

    • Marvel Reports Revenue Upswing, Future Projects

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 08 2007 01:00 PM | PERMALINK

Marvel has released the numbers for their revenue in the 2007 Second Quarter, and news is good for the once-bankrupt publisher who has thankfully seen an upswing in their fortunes over the last couple of years.

Net income for the company was up 78% from last year and growth was reported for all of its operating divisions. Spider-Man 3 merchandising was quoted as the big winner, but the print comic lines also made growth.

Also listed in the report were future movie and show plans, with reports...
