"Amazing Spider-Man" Creative Team Unmasked!
July 30, 2007
One of the burning questions in the geek universe of late, the identity of the new creative team on Amazing Spider-Man, has now been answered. The webslinger will be brought to fans three times a month now by writers Bob Gale, Zeb Wells, Dan Slott, and Marc Guggenheim. Spidey will be drawn by Salvador Laroca, Chris Bachalo, Steve McNiven, and Phil Jimenez. The book will also now be masterminded and edited by Stephen Wacker.
It seems like Marvel is quickly becoming the house that Spider-Man...

Itsy Bitsy "Spider-Man 4" News
July 31, 2007
While it may have been inevitable with the sheer amount of money the Spider-Man film franchise has made for Marvel that there would be more sequels, one thing we didn’t know was whether the creative team would be intact. Things are looking positive as Raimi, perhaps the most important ingredient in the films success, has stated a desire to continue to contribute to the franchise.
“I want to help contribute to the production,” said Raimi in an interview with Empire. “I don’t know if I’ll just be...

Marvel Reports Revenue Upswing, Future Projects
August 8, 2007
Marvel has released the numbers for their revenue in the 2007 Second Quarter, and news is good for the once-bankrupt publisher who has thankfully seen an upswing in their fortunes over the last couple of years.
Net income for the company was up 78% from last year and growth was reported for all of its operating divisions. Spider-Man 3 merchandising was quoted as the big winner, but the print comic lines also made growth.
Also listed in the report were future movie and show plans, with reports...

Webslinger Wedding Woes?
August 14, 2007
Spider-Man has had a busy year in the comics so far between being unmasked and getting Aunt May shot in the process, and with the “One More Day” storyline looming on the horizon things are apparently looking to get much bleaker for Parker.
Readers of Spider-Man have obviously noticed the extensive foreshadowing of Aunt May’s imminent death (call me cynical, but this is long overdue.) Early art of the “One More Day” storyline, however, seems to be hinting towards another split between Parker and...

Misery Loves Spidey
August 20, 2007
Marvel has posted more teasers on their website concerning the hotly-debated upcoming Spider-Man storyline "One More Day," releasing in roughly two weeks. As discussed last week, the conventional wisdom surrounding the event is most likely a divorce with Mary Jane or her death. I'm not counting out the possibility of an Aunt May death, though, considering the comic has been more than hinting about that in it's story arc.
Now to add more fuel to the rumor fire, here's a quote from J. Michael... -
Italy Invents Spidersuit, Geeks Drool
August 29, 2007
Scientists in Italy (more specifically, at the Polytechnic of Turin) might have just found the invention that will make all geeks everywhere explode in an ecstatic outburst of sheer joy. Italian scientists, you are now my favorite people on Earth. What could be that great, you wonder? How about a suit that mimics Spider-Man's wall-crawling powers? That's right people. Wall. Crawling. Action.
Now, let's not get too carried away. The suit is still on the drawing board. It is, however, based on... -
"Spider-Man: Friend or Foe" Preview
September 4, 2007
Marvel has posted a news story on the upcoming Spider-Man video game, which actually looks pretty sweet. For those that haven't been keeping up with the Activision-produced Spider-Man games of the past few years, they are a cut above the usual comic-video game quality and get better with every release. Amid the typical Marvel, overhyped language in the blurb (where they assure us it will be a "sure-fire hit"... we will be the judge of that, Marvel!) is some info that gives us a real idea of what...

The Collectapocalypse
September 18, 2007
The Collectapocalypse has begun.
Like so many other rabid comic book collectors and purists, it is absolutely essential to my very sanity and self-worth as a person that every single issue I own is in pristine, virginal supermint condition. It is also inherently imperative that each issue must stay in said condition until the bitter end of time itself, a frozen image of perfection, encased in a protective shell that would make Han Solo jealous.
Covers must keep an unmolested luster bright enough...

Comics > Movies
September 20, 2007
It is, on one hand, great that our favorite (and even not-so-favorite) comic characters are getting remade in premier, big-budget movies. On the other hand, it's not so great when we walk out of the theater disappointed. Even worse is when we voice said displeasure over such movies, we are often labeled as fanboys (or girls) who are simply impossible to appease. I am here to tell you all that it is not that we are impossible to please, but that comic book to film transfer cannot possibly please us...

Manny's review on Ultimate Spider-Man 115!
October 24, 2007
This week Ultimate Spider-Man #115 by artist Stuart Immonen and writer B.M. Bendis is out. Stuart Immonen most recently known for his run on the Nextwave title releases his fourth book into the ultimate series after taking over artist Mark Bagley. Immonen's art definately pops and the pages have a great sense of life in them. You can actually see previews of some of the pages in this weeks issue on the Marvel website. I really recommend this series not only to those big spider-man fans, but...

Spider-Man Sucks
January 1, 2008
So I didn’t realize how much I didn’t care about Peter Parker, until MJ was out of the picture. Really it felt like he was Bruce Wayne. Plus why the hell would you ever make a deal with the devil. I know it was Mephisto. It is just a long lame way to go just so the writers can have fun hooking spider-man up with different ladies. It is a dumb idea and I don’t want to read about it. Just let me know when he gets back together with MJ. Don’t mess with a good thing people. Am I wrong? Doesn’t this comic...

Comic Book Reviews: Uncanny X-Men #494, Nightwing #140 and Youngblood
January 7, 2008We're all enjoying the Messiah Complex crossover in Uncanny X-Men. However, we've got a couple of gripes. Watch this episode to find out what they could be doing better. Then, in our Newsarama Sneak Review, we check out Youngblood #1 and Nightwing #140. In Youngblood, we think the story line sounds a little familiar. Watch the show and see what we mean. We spoil the "big" reveal at the end of Nightwing #140, so be warned.
Then in our speed round we check out Thunderbolts #118, Northlanders #2, Shark Man...

Pull List: Spider-Man Has No Soul
January 7, 2008
Man I don’t want to pick up the next Spider-Man. It is stupid to have Spider-Man make a deal with the devil! So the good news is there is a lot of other stuff coming out. Like: Green Arrow Black Canary, The New Hulk #1, Maintenance, Mighty Avengers, Onslaught Reborn, and Punisher War Journal, Simon Dark, Spirit, Wolverine, Youngblood, Messiah Complex, Teen Titans The Lost Annual, and I am going to check out North Wind #1, Twelve #1, and Television #1.

The Amazing Spider-man One More Day / Brand New Day Special
January 11, 2008The controversial retroactive continuity (retcon) decision for Amazing Spider-Man will be making waves in the comic book community for the foreseeable future. We wanted to give this important event a little more attention, so we sat down and talked it out. Also, thanks goes out to YouTube user Erislaughs who submitted the great video response in this episode.
Thanks for watching The Stack. Tell your friends!

Spider-Man 3 Intercom Masks
March 31, 2008
"Spider-Man Black, this is Spider-Man Red. Over."
"Red, this is Black. Want to go to a piano bar?"
"Ummm... No."
"Okay, how about we smack Mary Jane up a bit?"
(Pause) "No thanks."
"Well, fine! I'm going to my bell tower then! Over and out."
Hours of fun, I bet. Also, order now, and you get a free backpack (really).
