Today, we've got Newsarama Sneak Reviews of The Last Defenders #1, Sisterhood #1 and Justice League of America #19.

Sorry the episode's a little late, guys. I, the behind-the-scenes guy who posts the episodes, got the flu and it took a little longer to get the episode up. Don't fear, Wednesday's and Friday's episodes will be there same time as always. Thanks for watching!

The Last Defenders is a new Defenders series, with some of old characters in the New Jersey initiative team. Sisterhood #1 was passed...

    • Comic Book Reviews: Invincible #48, JLA #18 and Superman Confidential #12

POSTED BY ALEX ZALBEN, FEBRUARY 18 2008 10:30 AM | PERMALINK

More Newsarama Sneak Reviews coming your way!

For this episode, we got our hands on Invincible #48, where we found a nice assortment of regulars from the Image universe. Atom Eve is back and although this book is short on story, we still recommending picking it up.

Justice League of America #18 is a follow-up on the story line where the villains were sent to prison on another planet. It's a decent issue but we think it serves as filler and hope there's better stuff coming.

      Then in Superman Confidential...

    • JLA Rumors Get Crazy

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, SEPTEMBER 03 2007 10:32 AM | PERMALINK

In an age where it is finally attractive for established big-name talent in Hollywood to play superhero roles in movies, it's getting harder and harder to tell the genuinely possible casting rumors from the blatantly made up casting rumors. In point of fact I did not actually know where to land on the newest JLA casting rumors that began circulating two days ago. You know the ones, that Mel Gibson is signing on to work with Miller again, and that the Gyllenhaal siblings are signing on to dress up the...

    • Another Year in "Smallville"

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 27 2007 02:00 PM | PERMALINK

In the spirit of keeping a very D.C. week of news going, let's talk about the upcoming seventh season of Smallville. IF Magazine recently interviewed producer Al Gough to get some interesting information regarding the show and what to expect while watching this season.

The real Supergirl shows up this season, not the "ruse" Supergirl from season three. Additionally, the original actress that played Supergirl in the (terrible) '80s movies will now be playing Kara's aunt ... which would be...

    • JLA=CGI?

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 23 2007 03:00 PM | PERMALINK

Word on the street Thursday has it that the upcoming Justice League of America movie will not, in fact, be a live action movie. Rather, IESB is reporting on what sounds to be fairly reliable rumors that the movie will be a CGI/motion-capture affair. This could make for an interesting movie feel (I've actually always wanted "Kingdom Come" to be done in this manner on screen, so this is probably as close as I'm ever going to get) and would obviously make it easier to pull this movie and "Superman...

POSTED BY SCOTT MOSCHELLA, AUGUST 20 2007 09:21 AM | PERMALINK

Who was made of rock and is now made out of lava? What book does Pete call "very, very violent"? And find out what the guys think is the best way to tell a story in a comic book. That's all in this edition of THE STACK.

    • JLA Gets Director and.... Death?

      POSTED BY , AUGUST 02 2007 11:33 AM | PERMALINK

Rumors abound today that the JLA movie that has been whispered about (and blabbed about in my column last week) has found a director. The word on the street is that George Miller, best known for directing “Mad Max” and “Happy Feet,” will be directing the Justice League movie. Hmm… from “Happy Feet” to “Justice League of America”… that’s a rather odd juxtaposition.

As odd as that transition may be for him, at least this is the guy who brought us “Mad Max” so that gives some hope (although it was...

    • Spandex Overload: "JLA" Movie in the Works?

      POSTED BY , JULY 30 2007 02:45 PM | PERMALINK

I’ve long said that the comic book movie that was in the most need of being made, out of the characters not yet tapped for a live-action movie, was "The Avengers." I would put "Justice League of America" as a close second. If the rumors are true, a live-action "JLA" movie may be happening.

Word has it that Kieran and Michele Mulroney have been tapped by D.C. to pen the script for the movie. One obvious question springing from this news is will Routh/Bale play Superman/Batman, as one would...
