Pulp Secret April 6th Show Notes
April 6, 2007Spiderman 3 will get a star studded premiere in Queens on May 4th. The screening will be part of the Tribeca Film Festival and will also be the culmination of New York’s Spiderman week. Diehard fans, such as myself, can watch back to back screenings of Spiderman and Spiderman 2 before jumping into the threequel.

Stormwatch PHD author Christos Gage will be taking over The Authority as of issue #5. So buckle up: because of the delays on the current Grant Morrison/Gene Ha arc, the new Gage arc won’t... -
More Comic Movie Casting News, Hulk Style
July 27, 2007While not nearly as exciting as the news of the full Watchmen casting list being broken over the last two days, still noteworthy is casting news regarding the Incredible Hulk movie sequel, as well as news of which villains the Hulk will be fighting (although we all know good and well there’s not many good Hulk villains to choose from.)
The villain in this sequel will be the Leader, and will be played by Tim Blake Nelson, last seen playing Kevin Munchak in The Astronaut Farmer. Not exactly a major coup,...

Marvel Reports Revenue Upswing, Future Projects
August 8, 2007
Marvel has released the numbers for their revenue in the 2007 Second Quarter, and news is good for the once-bankrupt publisher who has thankfully seen an upswing in their fortunes over the last couple of years.
Net income for the company was up 78% from last year and growth was reported for all of its operating divisions. Spider-Man 3 merchandising was quoted as the big winner, but the print comic lines also made growth.
Also listed in the report were future movie and show plans, with reports...

Warren Ellis to Helm Hulk/Iron Man Miniseries
August 13, 2007
With Hulk and Iron Man being the hottest two characters in the Marvel universe right now for both the upcoming movies and their roles in the amazing storylines of World War Hulk and Civil War, it doesn’t look as if things will change at all next year. Not only will the movies be released, but Warren Ellis and Casy Nord will also be helming a six-issue “Ultimate Hulk / Iron Man” comic book miniseries next year.
In an interview with CBR, Ellis talks about the project, which Joe Quesada...

Hulk Tour '07, Destination: Toronto
August 27, 2007
A bit of news regarding the new "Hulk" movie has surfaced that will be of great interest to our friends who live in or near Toronto. If the word on the street is correct, anyone near that city next month could have a chance to go and watch a piece of the film get shot. I'm not talking about any mundane, run-of-the-mill dialogue scene either. I'm talking about a fight scene. Small spoiler (that probably everyone expects) in the next paragraph.
The fight scene in question is a fight scene between the... -
The Collectapocalypse
September 18, 2007
The Collectapocalypse has begun.
Like so many other rabid comic book collectors and purists, it is absolutely essential to my very sanity and self-worth as a person that every single issue I own is in pristine, virginal supermint condition. It is also inherently imperative that each issue must stay in said condition until the bitter end of time itself, a frozen image of perfection, encased in a protective shell that would make Han Solo jealous.
Covers must keep an unmolested luster bright enough...

Angel: After the Fall, The Incredible Herc, and The Order
December 27, 2007The first issue of the new series The Incredible Herc hits the stores with characters based on Greek mythology. We think it's worth picking up, find out why. We were pretty critical of Special Forces #1, does Issue 2 show signs of this book getting better? Alex says The Order, written by Matt Fraction is the best bang for your buck on the stands today.
Plus we've got Army @ Love, Wolverine: Firebreak and Angel: After the Fall and more in our speed round.
Then, in our mailbag we answer a tough one: If we... -
Jenna Jameson Comics? Green Arrow Black Canary #4 and The Twelve #1: Comic Book Reviews
January 17, 2008Pete gets a little choked up over Green Arrow Black Canary #4. Find out why! The Twelve is called "The Novel of Tomorrow", so why is it set in the 1940s? Then we check out the "last" issue of The Spirit written by J Bone and Darwyn Cooke. We really liked this issue and highly recommend picking it up.
In the speed round, we give our quick thoughts on The Foundation #1, The Mighty Avengers #7, Northwind #1, Hulk #1, and Jenna Jameson's Shadow Hunter #0 (which might actually be good!).
Then we answer a...

Comics! Ultimate Human #4, Countdown #1, New Avengers #40
April 28, 2008Pete's a big fan of Ultimate Human #4 but Justin's not having it and says there's a Duck Tales reference in there somewhere. Hmmmm.
Then, we've made it all the way to Countdown #1 and we've gotta say, we haven't really been bowled over by this series. It just didn't pan out and we didn't need 52 issues of this. The Secret Invasion is on in New Avengers #40 with Bendis at the reins. We really enjoyed this issue, but we think putting this great story under the "New Avengers" title does this story a...
