Seriously, it's The Joker!
July 27, 2007By now, you may have heard about the viral marketing campaign for the next Batman movie. Earlier today whysoserious.com featured an invite to get together at a provided longitude and latitude. Interestingly, while Warner Bros. publicly stated they would not be promoting the movie at the Comicon, those coordinates? RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE CONVENTION HALL!
The site now features a bloody message, but click the link in the lower left hand corner and what should pop up but THE TRAILER FOR THE DARK KNIGHT!

Spandex Overload: "JLA" Movie in the Works?
July 30, 2007
I’ve long said that the comic book movie that was in the most need of being made, out of the characters not yet tapped for a live-action movie, was "The Avengers." I would put "Justice League of America" as a close second. If the rumors are true, a live-action "JLA" movie may be happening.
Word has it that Kieran and Michele Mulroney have been tapped by D.C. to pen the script for the movie. One obvious question springing from this news is will Routh/Bale play Superman/Batman, as one would...

JLA Gets Director and.... Death?
August 2, 2007
Rumors abound today that the JLA movie that has been whispered about (and blabbed about in my column last week) has found a director. The word on the street is that George Miller, best known for directing “Mad Max” and “Happy Feet,” will be directing the Justice League movie. Hmm… from “Happy Feet” to “Justice League of America”… that’s a rather odd juxtaposition.
As odd as that transition may be for him, at least this is the guy who brought us “Mad Max” so that gives some hope (although it was...

Batrumors: Animated DVD Feature to Bridge "Batman" Movies?
August 7, 2007
A production document seems to have surfaced (assuming that it is legitimate) that details plans to produce an animated straight-to-DVD Batman feature to be released just before the release of "The Dark Knight." The project will apparently be PG-13 and will bridge the stories of the two movies.
The document states that this "brand-new adventure follows Batman as he unravels a mystery over six short stories done in the style of Japanese anime." The document also places the talent of Josh Olsen,...

D.C. DVD Release Dates
August 21, 2007

For the kid in you, or for those of you that are kids, Warner Home Video has announced release dates for "Batman: The Complete Fourth Season" and "Teen Titans: The Complete Fourth Season," with both DVD collections hitting shelves on November 20th.
Beyond the collected episodes, the "Batman" set will include a Batman: Season 4 Unmasked featurette highlighting "Robin, the Boy Wonder." The DVD extra will detail how the series creators settled on this version of Robin as well as detail the... -
JLA=CGI?
August 23, 2007
Word on the street Thursday has it that the upcoming Justice League of America movie will not, in fact, be a live action movie. Rather, IESB is reporting on what sounds to be fairly reliable rumors that the movie will be a CGI/motion-capture affair. This could make for an interesting movie feel (I've actually always wanted "Kingdom Come" to be done in this manner on screen, so this is probably as close as I'm ever going to get) and would obviously make it easier to pull this movie and "Superman...

Two More "Dark Knight" Leaks
August 23, 2007
Some new set reports regarding "The Dark Knight" Thursday from HollywoodChicago, the most boggling is the prospect of Anthony Michael Hall playing a minor antagonist (meaning not a major villain but someone who doesn't like Batman … kinda sounds like a Peter Parker/Eddie Brock kind of dynamic) in the film.
Hall apparently will be playing the "Reese" character for those of you that have read the recent plot spoilers floating about. I suppose it's not that bad if it is true, Hall is an adequate actor...

Another "Dark Knight" Leaked Scene
August 30, 2007
As usual, minor spoilers involved ... pretty minor this time, so don't worry too much about learning anything you didn't want to learn. If you "have to go in fresh" to the movie, turn away now.
This is by far the coolest "Dark Knight" scene I've yet seen leaked, because we actually get to see something blown up! Fox Chicago posted this video of a former candy factory getting blown up for what is undoubtedly a climax scene in the film.
The building, in the film, will apparently be portraying Gotham...

The Comic-Movie Rundown
September 25, 2007Been a while since I brought you fine readers some of the ever-ubiquitous comic-movie news, so I'm back with a sack full of D.C. (and indie) movie news to bring you today. How much news fits in a sack, you ask? Enough to keep you happy. Now, let's get to it.
Let's start with Wonder Woman, since it pleases me that the Katie Holmes-as-Diana rumor was just that... a rumor. Despite her resemblance to a young Linda Carter (I mean, compare the cheekbones...) something deep inside told me that casting wasn't...

Batman and The Spoiler
November 17, 2007
Batman and The audition? There is nothing more upsetting (OK probably a lot of things are more upsetting. Take it in context, please) than Batman sitting at a computer not doing anything. He is the world’s greatest detective; let's watch him sit at a computer? Anywho, so we get to watch The Outsiders try out for Batman. It is drawn well, and you get to see the berth of Omac, if you are into that sort of thing. I would give it a five out of ten.

All Dark "Batman and Robin"
December 1, 2007
Spoil nation I just read the new All Star Batman and Robin Boy Wonder. Jim Lee’s art is amazing, but man it is a little too creepy. Ok Joker can be creepy, but that was still a little much. Also Batman is a little too mean for my taste lately. He trashed Green Lantern, and what is with the Editors note? If his response is so bad just don’t put it in there or do the whole, #*! Plus Batman and Robins relationship in this comic is bleeping sleazy. I just think it is a little over the top, just like Nazi...

Heath Ledger Found Dead
January 22, 2008
Actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment of what seems to be a possible drug overdose. Sleeping pills were apparently found near his body but at the moment it is unconfirmed if they played a role in his death. Unlike most television reports claim, he was not in the process of filming the “New Batman film.” He was preparing for his next role in the fantasy film "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." It is unknown at the moment how much work he did for the film and how much his...

A NYCC Rookie Journal
April 19, 2008
This is my second trip to a comic con and my first trip to NYCC. I didn't know what to expect after having been to San Diego Comic Con back in 2006, but I knew it would be a lot of fun. This is also my first year as a member of the press, meaning that as much as I'm here to enjoy myself, I'm also here to shuck and jive for my lunch. Friday was great, I spent the whole day with Pete, John, and our film crew (Steve and Scott) on the show floor interviewing movie stars and comic book titans. For a...

Summer Movie Spectacular

Alex, Justin, and Pete are all mesmerized by Iron Man and Justin likens Speed Racer to Mario Kart. Then it's attack of The Incredible Hulk.
