Vertigo Visits "Greendale"

Back in 2003 Neil Young released "Greendale", a concept album set in a California seaside town about the Green Family and what occurs when a stranger visits their community, and changes their lives forever. The album was then released as a movie featuring actors lip syncing to Young's songs , and now, thanks to Vertigo, it is being turned into a graphic novel. "Greendale" will be written by Joshua Dysart ("Swamp Thing") from characters and concepts by Young, and featuring full color artwork by Sean Murphy ("Outer Orbit").

The album, turned graphic novel is about environmentalism, questioning war, and all the problems a nation faces together. The album was named one of the best albums of 2003 by "Rolling Stone", and hopefully this will bring more people to listen to of Neil Young's most accomplished works.

I discovered this on YouTube last night. This is my vision of the direction online comics should be going in the future. Traditional panel art, word balloons to control pacing properly, soundtracks or sound effects (snikt! should have a real sound!). I'd love to see an X-Men or Batman book done monthly in this style.
