Wow, why does having so much fun cost you so much money? So here is what I learned at the con. 1. Panels are very boring, they should just announce what news they have and be done with it. They drag it out, talk about it, talk some more, show slides, and then open up for some Q and A. The only reason I stick around for the Q and A is because sometimes they slip up and leak something they are not supposed to. 2. Todd McFarlane is kind of a dick. The Image panel at the con was the first time in 15 years all of founding members were together. (Almost all) Anyway instead of talking about Image, Todd shared stories of all the horrible things he would do to the guys. Especially Jim Lee, who was embarrassed and wanted to get back to talking about Image. No wonder Jim left Image. I was excited for that panel and was let down. 3. Bring a lunch, the food there sucks so bad! My eighth grade lunch was better than this. 4. Don't believe the hype, the Marvel booth was packed for the unveiling of Iron Man's suit and it was just the suit everyone has seen pictures of online. Kind of a let down. Go after events to see some thing you will actually be able to see it, instead of mobbed. 5. Do the research, there is tons of cool give aways and signings. I was pissed about missing signings and give aways, there was a ton of cools stuff that I got because I was in the right place at the right time. Go to your favorite booths and talk to them about what they have planned. Next time I don't want to miss a thing. 6. Save money, because it goes quick. I wanted to buy more stuff but I was broke. I find it is better to pass buy something, and think about it. If you really want it go back, don't buy stuff and then not have money for other stuff you wanted more of. 7. Bring camera and take pictures. Everyone is asking me about stuff and I had wished I took more pictures. 8. Wear comfortable shoes. You walk so much! 9. Split up, walking in groups sucks. People have there own agenda of stuff they want so divide and conquer, otherwise you are a slow walking group that takes up to much room. It is way to crowded. 10. Don't sleep! There is way to much going on to miss stuff, so drink coffee or sleep when it is over because it is one non stop convention. -Pete |
