Snyder+R Rating+Pirates= Best Superhero Movie?
Yes, so we knew what the "Watchmen" movie casting was by the time of the big CCI announcement. However, there were still some interesting tidbits of information delivered by director Zack Snyder during his address to the audience at the convention. Most notable is the suggestion that the movie will be R, and not PG-13.
Also notable is that the studio wants the plot for "Watchmen" to be “contemporized” out of the Cold War, while Snyder feels the story has to take place in the 80's (sadly after seeing the Koran nonsense in "Vendetta" I bet a million dollars the studio ends up winning.)
Snyder also replied to a fan question about the pirate story (within the story), by revealing his desire to film it, but “doesn’t know if the studio will let him.”
In response to criticism about the lack of stars in the newly announced cast, Snyder offered a very true, and very calming statement: “I made ‘300’ without any stars, and that did okay.” More than okay, I’d say. Snyder’s presence on this movie suddenly gives me a new hope for it….
