Watchmen Movie Casting Rumors, part two

With official announcements regarding the upcoming Watchmen movie slated to be revealed this weekend at Comic Con, more and more early information is apparently leaking out regarding the casting for the project. While the internet rumor mill long had Jude Law pegged for the role of Ozymandias, the newest information puts the role in the hands of Matthew Goode. While I’m not a huge Jude Law fan, I thought he would have pulled off the arrogance and detachment of Veidt / Ozymandias very naturally, and really would have been perfect for the part.
Director Zack Snyder, if the information disseminated over the last couple of days is true, is forming a relatively low budget, lesser known cast for this project (with the exception of Billy Crudup, rumored to play Dr. Manhattan). I think a smaller budget cast will actually help this film, as it will make it easier to identify with the characters and not the actor. Besides, no one wanted to see Mel Gibson play the Comedian anyway.

Watchmen will not transmit well to a movie, no matter who the actors are. It was written as a comic and shows what the medium can do, and what others can't. How can you film a scene changing from panel to panel without creating an epileptic mess. Also what do you do with the large pieces of vital information at the end of each chapter. The whole series will have to be revamped into something it's not. And I for one would prefer if they left alone one of the best pieces of graphic literature tht will ever be made. I am not planning to go see this movie, but instead will stay home and get to know the incredible genius of Alan Moore through his books.
I guess you didnt see 300, which does just exactly what you say cant be done with the panel art to film process.
What! There is absolutely no way that you can compare 300 to watchmen. Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie, and the book even more. But there is a huge difference between 300 and watchmen. 3oo is incredibly simple if compared to watchmen. Just look at V for Vendetta and how far it strayed from the book. If you don't think this will happen to watchmen you're crazy. Also Moore is having nothing to do with the project, unlike Frank Miller and 300. Just because 300 was a good film doesn't mean that Watchmen will be, I have heard this too many times and it is an absolutely ludicrous claim. Just because you like apples doesn't mean you'll like oranges.
I really don't need it to be exactly like Watchman plot-wise. As long as its a good movie and true to the characters/themes I'll enjoy it.
