The Science of Superman's Flight

POSTED BY Charlie Schneider, 26 May 2008

Over the years the way human flight has been depicted has evolved. Superman's flight is a really good way to look at the way we perceive flight. Does Superman "jump" into the air? Why can he just move upwards without any perceived effort in modern day movies? In the CW series Smallville he is depicted taking off in a "Matrix" (the movie) like fashion. This clip was featured on the Superman DVD released in conjunction with the feature release of Superman Returns. For any science nerds like myself out there I definitely recommend checking it out. Special Thanks to SF Signal for bringing this to the web. Here's the video: superman, DC comics, Smallville, Clark Kent, SF SIgnal, Flight, Graviton, Science of Flight, George Reeves
