Neil Gaiman drops an F-Bomb

POSTED BY Charlie Schneider, 23 April 2008

An "Evening with Neil Gaiman" began with Bill Hader telling stories about how Neil Gaiman's work has influenced his life and his comedy. He said that he did his first audition for Saturday Night Live with a copy of Sandman in his back pocket, and at each subsequent audition after that. Obviously Neil Gaiman not only wrote awesome literature, he also served as a great source of good fortune. Hader then said that it was because of their shared love of Neil Gaiman that Seth Rogen hired him to work on Superbad last year.

In short order, Neil came out and read the press release about a man who had been jailed for handing out a comic on free comic book day that contained objectionable material. Now with the efforts of the CBLDF (who he was doing the panel for) and sympathizers the man had been set free. I believe he dropped the F-bomb to express his relief.

I'll talk more later about some of the awesome stories he read. I really liked, "The Day The Saucers Came" and "The Graveyard Book".
