A NYCC Rookie Journal

POSTED BY Charlie Schneider, 19 April 2008

This is my second trip to a comic con and my first trip to NYCC.  I didn't know what to expect after having been to San Diego Comic Con back in 2006, but I knew it would be a lot of fun.  This is also my first year as a member of the press, meaning that as much as I'm here to enjoy myself, I'm also here to shuck and jive for my lunch.  Friday was great, I spent the whole day with Pete, John, and our film crew (Steve and Scott) on the show floor interviewing movie stars and comic book titans.  For a complete list of interviews be sure to check Alex's earlier post.

There wasn't a single person who wasn't glad to talk to us.  It just goes to show you how dedicated and understanding the comic book readers and creators are.  Going over a few highlights:

Pete Hulks out in front of the Hulk statue, then I turn around and bump into Lou Ferrigno (smiles and nods).

Being treated like a celebrity by the DC Comics people every time I passed by their booth (they might have mistaken me for Justin).

Getting to meet Grant Morrison, creator of my favorite Batman stories (by far the best dressed person at NYCC).

Seeing Lindsey creep closer and closer to Milo Ventimiglia during our interview (as if to pounce and attempt a celebrity kidnapping).

Getting to listen to Neil Gaiman tell never before heard original stories (Chapter 3 from the graveyard book was my favorite).

Be sure to check back as we keep you updated on all the important goings on, the pranks, and the general mischief we get ourselves into this weekend.  In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!
