Starbuck is Alive?

This Friday is the grand return of Battlestar Galactica. Most fans have already read the writing on the wall. This will be the final season of the show. Show-runner and co-creator Ronald D. Moore has stated that since the writer's strike has ended, the writers of Battlestar have completely re-written the last half of the season. What does that mean? Battlestar Galactica will be even better this year.

Hopefully we'll find out how it's possible to survive a giant space tornado and get answers to all our other questions.  Sorry, looks like we probably won't find out about that pesky final Cylon model till the series end.

Enjoy the season premier this Friday on Sci-Fi at 10/9C!

They are marathoning BSG beginning to end all week on Sci-Fi. Its so great.

I was trying to get a dialog about the finale going on the forums, but no one seems interested.

Best TV show ever? It definitely gives Babylon 5 a run for best sci-fi epic. Sadly B5 isn't on enough to get a good comparison. I've only seen it one time through, beginning to end.

The advantage that B5 had that so many shows did not was the inhuman amount of work J. Michael Straczynski did in writing ALL of the episodes himself. That's dedication for you.

B5 is a pretty great show but in my eyes Galactica takes the cake. It's fantastic.

Battlestar rocks me hard. It's a great, great show and you don't have to be a sci fi fan to enjoy it.

Well, being old enough to have seen the original BSG in 1st-time broadcast, I can say that the current version is far superior. As for its comparison to B5: BSG is a darker, more serious approach to Science Fiction. Obviously, BSG is a parable to 9/11 and the War on Terror response. The situation of an attack on humanity makes some people forget moral codes and ethical behavior in light of a collective desire to feel safe once again. BSG tells that story. B5 was a fairy tale or space myth of sorts that took less from its current times and instead tells a tale influenced by some older historical events as well as a few literary influences (Lord of the Rings being the most obvious one: Technomages are the Elves leaving before the great war, Rangers wander the land collecting information, the Shadows have a resemblance to Sauron's Ring Wraiths, and Sheridan must go "beyond the rim" in the same way Frodo cannot end his life in the Shire.) BSG is a human story told in fantastic terms and B5 was a space fantasy told in mythic terms.
