The Letters Page: Most Pointless Character Deaths
As we've mentioned before, there's way too much mail for us to answer in the shows, so we'll be answering some of it right here on the blog. As always, thanks for sending in your questions, and please keep shooting them over to tips@pulpsecret.com, call them in to 888-841-7549, or post a video response on YouTube!

Hey guys, I love the show. You guys can really get people into the comics that are not on TV. Recently in the Robin comics, they are teasing fans with the possibility of The Boy Wonder's old girlfriend, Spoiler, back from the dead. She died in 'War Games' and after that, everyone seemed to forget about her. This also led to Dr. Thompkins to be booted out of the Batman comics. I know that there is alot of death and returns in comics today, but I wouldn't mind having Spoiler back, her death was pointless and, let's face it, Robin needs something to cheer him up. So I wonder, what character death you thought was pointless.Well, not so much of a teaser, now that she's semi-officially back... About any other deaths, I really think any 2nd tier character deaths (i.e., Black Goliath in Civil War) smack of "I need someone to die to make my point, but can't use any of the big characters." I'd rather have a death mean something, like Captain America." In comics, we know that death isn't forever, but really, can't it last for a little while?
Ben sez:
Every Thursday I go to pick up my stack. I then go to pizza joint next door and have two slices and a root beer. Make sure to operate book with one hand and greasy pizza with the other. I usually get in two books and save the better for the latter. Word is BondI love it... Pete and I sometimes hit the Burger King. There's something about gross food and comics that works so well together...
Jack asks:
Two different questions we were debating last night while watching your show: What comic book or set of books have you sold that you deeply regret to this day? We always think this says a lot about a person, so what is everybody's adult beverage of choice? It did kill me a little to sell my Avengers comic books, in particular "Under Siege," which is my favorite Avengers story of all time. However, it's in trades, which helps alleviate the pain a little bit. And I like a fruity mai tai! Kidding... Bombay Sapphire and Tonic.

A while back you were asked about your favorite one-shots. Pete and Justin (maybe) both said Punisher: Force of Nature. Given, this comic had just come out and was probably fresh in your minds, but I think that if you had given it a bit more thought you probably wouldn't have picked that issue. I bought it based on those recommendations and really didn't care for it. Given, people's likes and dislikes are quite varied, but I think Punisher: The Cell and Punisher: The End were both much better Punisher one-shots. Plus, I think there are other one-shots that are vastly superior to Force of Nature. I would ask that you bear this in mind: People base their purchases on your comments and opinions. Think them through. If, however, Force of Nature really is your favorite one-shot of all time, my apologies.I think there might have been a little joking there, so sorry if we made you waste your money. To make it up to you, pick up The Hulk: The End when you have a chance. It's worth it.
Rikk wonders:
Should I bother with Secret Invasion? Will anything really be resolved, or will it just be another vehicle for the next miniseries that will, of course, Change The Marvel Universe Forever! Ugh.Well, both. I think it will be worth your time, and should be a fun, big story. However, it will be (at least in part), a launching pad for a number of new series, new heroes, and new events in the future. But... That's comics for ya.
