Future Buffy

POSTED BY Justin Tyler, 27 March 2008

MySpace Comic Books posted a well-in-advance preview of Buffy #16, in which Buffy fights Fray the Future Slayer. The pictures are pretty, pretty but it got me thinking is this really a season 8 of a tv show or is it just another comic book based on a tv show? (Though well marketed) Is Buffy a glorified babylon 5 comic?

If it were season 8 of a TV show, wouldn't it be... on TV?

well, on the tv show, Buffy fought with slayers past more than once. I don't think its too much of a leap to have her fighting a slayer from the future. I think that the comic has been pretty faithful. I just wonder about after they have the climatic battle with this twilight guy whether or not they will switch it to season 9. That will be the real test

It's a cool idea, and one that could only be done for the comic audience, but I personally have been having trouble thinking of this series are legit ever since Buffy slept with another girl. Whedon's always written about strong women, but here he's saying that if a girl is stressed out enough she'll jump into bed with the first person who's willing.

Whedon's doing the arc, I have faith in him.

I agree, Joss Whedon is definitely one of the great writers of the modern age. His characters are very identifiable and instantly lovable (or easy to despise as the case may be). Just look at how his television properties have survived cancellation.
