As we've mentioned before, there's way too much mail for us to answer in the shows, so we'll be answering some of it right here on the blog. As always, thanks for sending in your questions, and please keep shooting them over to tips@pulpsecret.com, call them in to 888-841-7549, or post a video response on YouTube!
Colleen Asks:
Hey guys, I was glancing at digg today and saw an article that made me think of you guys. It's called "5 Upcoming Comic Book Movies that Must Be Stopped." What do you guys think? Do you agree/disagree?Okay, let's run down the titles they're talking about (ignoring the fact that it's a humorous article for the moment). Sub-Mariner, in his current incarnation, works much better as a foil than a star. Shazam, I would LOVE to see. Just use focus on the idea that he's a kid trapped in an adult body, dealt with spectacularly by Judd Winick in Superman/Shazam: First Thunder, and Geoff Johns in JSA, and you've got a great movie. Luke Cage, I kind of agree about not working as a movie. I would love it to, and Bendis' current take on the character is great, but again, he works in a team much, much better than he does individually. Thor... I don't know. Could be great, could be silly. It's a very tough character to do well. Last but not least, Green Lantern. Get Geoff Johns to write the Green Lantern movie. You know, like the movies he's already written in comic book form? The ones that kick ass? I'll see that live, please.
Will Wonders:
I was wondering if you knew of any site to keep track of your comic collection online. I recently came across comicscout.com, which is a cool way to keep up with current releases, but haven't found anything to organize the books I already have.Since I mainly keep track of my comics by stacking them in an increasingly unsteady pile in my closet, I don't know if I'm the best person to answer this question. However, you might want to check out StashMyComics.com. And if you like online comics, check out this. So what do you guys use?
Marcus Muses:
Hey guys, love the show. Aside from the recent Trials of or Monster Society of Evil, I was wondering if there are any SHAZAM! books that you could possibly recommend that are worth a read? and also what your thoughts about the upcoming SHAZAM! movie and the fact that The Rock will be playing Black Adam?Looks like it's a Shazam kind of day, huh? I mentioned it above, but just to expand a bit: Superman/Shazam: First Thunder is one of the better series I've ever read. Also, I love Geoff Johns work with Shazam on JSA. It was almost a little too brief, but the character moments between Billy and Courtney "Stargirl" Whitmore are really, really excellent.
Andrew from Union City, CA:
Have you guys been reading Marvel's "Sub-Mariner: Revolution" miniseries? The last issue came out, and I thought it was pretty awesome. But it seems no one else is talking about it. So, if you did read it, what did you think? And also, are there any other cool Namor books I should check out? Thanks, and keep up the good work. This is a very themed question day, isn't it? I did read a couple of the issues, though not the full mini-series. I guess it ties into not particularly caring for Namor as a main character, but loving him as a foil for other characters. For example, the last issue of The Order? Excellent use of the character, classic old school villainy in the name of protecting his people. I'd love to see a little more of that in the future, and less Namor as hero.
Diego Wants to Know:
Hello there, Alex, Justin and Pete, as well as the rest of the crew. Thank you for keeping excellence at your job, you are interesting as much as you're funny. I wrote you back on 09/18, with a question on Cable and Deadpool, which you actually answer on the show (pretty cool, THANK you). I recently discover a new heroine that is kinda Mystique fused with Kitty Pride (I do not know which her powers are actually), the REALLY hot "Madame Mirage", from Top Cow, I presume. I know not her motifs, but she is blowing up the bad guys like they were full with Mentos and Diet Coke. Could you please review this comic? I would really apreciate it.I'm not going to lie to you... I read the first issue, and it didn't quite grab me. It's Paul Dini, doing a noir riff, which is always fun, and yet, it didn't completely hook me in. Tell you what: I'll give it a second chance, and we'll see if Dini can't work that voodoo that he do so well.letters, page
