DMZ

POSTED BY Pete LePage, 19 January 2008

Damn you DMZ. You are so well written and enjoyable. Every issue I pick up I say, oh I hope this isn’t another back-story issue about one person. And it is, but it always ends up being such a great issue. I am so torn. I enjoy the DMZ so much, that it is all I want to read about. Knowing the characters is cool, but the DMZ that is what it is all about. I want to get back in there. How much longer am I going to have to endure well written back story issues? dmz

I know exactly what you mean. I didn't read this comic for a long time because I thought it looked sort of dumb. When I heard I was wrong I bought all the trades and now have jumped on issues. I always get a little bummed when I open the book and it's a back story but I still end up loving it. Brian Wood really knows how to make me care about characters in a short span. I WANT THE MAIN STORY BACK!!!!

Sadly, my favorite issue so far was the one entirely composed of maps of NY and the various areas of the DMZ... even though it is the main storyline that made me interested in it to begin with.

Yeah, I want to see more of the main event, but damn, the sideshow is better than 99% of anything else out there.

I've said it before on Pulpsecret.com, and I will say it again: DMZ is the best damn book out there right now.

Also: Alex, did you ever finish up reading Death Note? I haven't really posted since that whole 'I think I might read a Manga' question was raised.

I hope you did, that series rules.
Until a certain point: which I don't want to reveal as its sheer shock value both enhances the title, and robs it of one of its most cherished plot points.
