SuperHeroes & Theatre???

POSTED BY Alex Zalben, 18 January 2008

Yeah, the idea of people dressing in tights and prancing around is totally non-complimentary, I think.

Anyway, this comes from our friend Chris Kipiniak, who you may know as the writer of Marvel Adventures Spider-Man...
The superheroes known as The Protectorate are fighting to protect Earth from destruction but they need your help. 'But wait!' you say, 'I'm just one man/woman (depending). I can't leap tall buildings in a single bound. I probably couldn't do it in six! My body isn't a living weapon, honed to perfection, and I've never been doused in chemicals or bitten by a radioactive spider or anything. What can I do?'

Well, you can come watch, of course!

Come see superheroes live and in person in SAVE THE WORLD! It's a play about difficulty of doing Good, no matter how powerful you are. It's written by me - Chris Kipiniak - and directed by Michael Barakiva and produced by the good people at the Roundtable Ensemble. It's got a stellar cast including: Stephen Bel Davies, Craig Bridger, Charissa Chamorro, Christine Corpuz, Noshir Dalal, Kelly Hutchinson, and Danielle Skraastad. They wear costumes and fight and everything.

The show premieres next week on January 17th at the American Theatre of Actors at 314 W. 54th Street (between 8th and 9th). It runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 with a Saturday matinee at 3:00, through February 9th.
