As we've mentioned before, there's way too much mail for us to answer in the shows, so we'll be answering some of it right here on the blog. As always, thanks for sending in your questions, and please keep shooting them over to tips@pulpsecret.com, call them in to 888-841-7549, or post a video response on YouTube!
Douglas from Aurora, IL asks:
I consider myself a Marvel person but ever since Joe Q took over as EIC I find that I am reading more DC than Marvel. I stopped reading Spider-man a few years before the last re-boot. So, I find all of the chatter about OMD a kind of 'matrix' moment where people are waking up and starting to realize that things at Marvel are not all what they appear to be. At last years Wizard World in Chicago Joe Q said "We will never have a 'crises' at Marvel because we think our story lines through." He's right the never will have an all encompassing 'crises' because they keep re-booting each title whenever they screw something up. Okay, so todays question was - what will you think when a year from now when everything (Spider-Man) is back to how it was - isn't the real question ... what will you think a year from now when MJ wakes up and sees Peter (Bobby Ewing) Parker in the shower?Hmmm... It seems like this "One More Day" thing I keep hearing about was some sort of big storyline? Not sure, didn't read it myself. <-- I'm kidding. I think we generally answered this question in the last show, but just in case it wasn't to your satisfaction, I think my gut reaction would be annoyance. Even if a writer makes a mistake, you want them to stand by, own their mistakes, and figure out to fix them without ignoring or ret-conning them. That being said, I also don't have a problem with the Spider-Universe never acknowledging Ben Reilly, for example. Either way you go, there are problems, which is why I think every story needs to be taken on its own merit.
Gogs from Croatia says:
Ethically, is Hulk right to wipe us out? What died with Captain America? "I shouted out who killed the Kennedies, and after all it was you and me..." Rolling Stones, Sympathy for the Devil. Are there any Eskimo super heroes? Keep up the great work!Let's dig into these, shall we? For the Hulk question, um, no, he's not ethically right to wipe us out. No-one is ever ethically right to kill, which was one of the points of WWH, I think. In fact, The Hulk just wanted to teach us all a very important lesson. What died with Captain America? Not good stories, I'll tell you! That book is great. Sigh. I'm a tool. And yes, there are eskimo super-heroes. Beyond the 50 State Initiative team that is surely based in Alaska (I know we're all waiting for that reveal), there's Captain Al Cohol, Super Shamou, Nelvana, and for one you might have heard of, Snowbird.
Scott Fields from Orlando queries:
Is there a good Mike Mignola comic coming out, or in the works?Considering everything from Mike Mignola is good, I'll just tell you what's coming out: Tomorrow, you've got BPRD: 1946 #1; on January 30th, the BPRD: Garden of Souls TPB; and of course, Hellboy #2 comes out this Summer. Hope that helps, and be sure to check out Hellboy.com for updated news.
Omar wonders:
if you could have an action figure line made for a comicbook series... Which series would you pick ?Dude, I'm not a baby. I don't play with action figures. Yes, I read comics weekly. Yes, I play video games. Yes, I own and play with action figures. But I don't... Oh wait. Never mind. First thing I thought of was New X-Men, I think those would be a lot of fun, esp. basing them on Humberto Ramos, or Skottie Young designs, really cartoony rather than real. Also, if I was much, much younger, I think I would wear out a set of Invincible action figures. What about you guys? What would you like to see made into a tiny plastic figurine?
Jeff Sez:
Love the show - only I sometimes watch podcasts on the Xbox 360 via iTunes, and for some reason it doesn't like your encoding. All my other mp4 podcasts play fine, and of course this show is fine on the computer or ipod, but I would like to just watch from the couch sometimes ;-) Had some great titles lately out of Oni Press and other smaller publishers that don't seem to get much coverage on the show - so I would put in a vote for a little wider spectrum if you could as well. Thanks for the heads up, Jeff, we're definitely looking into it. If anyone has technical problems, shoot us as detailed an e-mail as possible, and we'll see what we can do. And same for the books. I looooooove Oni Press stuff, and would be happy to review 'em on the show. If you guys have requests, I do keep track of them, and get to them as soon as I can, so definitely ask us to review specific books, and we'll try to get to them!letters, page
