All Dark "Batman and Robin"

POSTED BY Pete LePage, 01 December 2007

Spoil nation I just read the new All Star Batman and Robin Boy Wonder. Jim Lee’s art is amazing, but man it is a little too creepy. Ok Joker can be creepy, but that was still a little much. Also Batman is a little too mean for my taste lately. He trashed Green Lantern, and what is with the Editors note? If his response is so bad just don’t put it in there or do the whole, #*! Plus Batman and Robins relationship in this comic is bleeping sleazy. I just think it is a little over the top, just like Nazi nipples.

Batman, robin, and, Wonder, star, boy

Joker too creepy?!?!?!? Very seldom are we treated w/ a truly scary version of the Joker. The only recent one that comes to mind is the Joker/Robin cab ride (I cant remember if it was Det. Comics or Robin) where the Joker is randomly running over pedestrians. To see such a ruthless, perverse, unpredictable and seemingly random murder like the one depicted in ASBR is what gives the character life and takes us back to the essence of the Joker. The best part about the Joker in this issue was no maniacal laughing and he didnt smile once. Other than that, the editors note was pretty stupid. The story is kicked up to 11 on every other level. Why take the reader out of the story w/ such an awkward distraction? Overall, Im enjoying the bizarre story. Only time will tell on whether or not there is a method to the over the top story. Hopefully we wont have to wait another 2 years.

I think it was a joke regarding the editors note there Pete. And while it is over the top, I think this issue was absolutely fantastic. It really got the ball rolling with some solid plot points and some great characterisations.
What do you mean "too creepy", hes the goddamn Joker, hes meant to be Goddamn creepy!

Ever see the fan film Patient J from http://www.batinthesun.com
The Joker in that is nice and creepy.

I didn't think Joker was any more creepy than he probably should be depicted in a book for mature readers. The tattoo is really odd though, as is just about everything in that title. GL having a snack was pretty funny, just because we don't see the characters doing mundane stuff like that.

I thought the Joker scene at the beginning was the only good part of this comic. Batman is a dick, and this comic series is unnecessary. I wont be buying any more of the series.

Well this issue was slated as the final in the initial arc, (however there is no conclusion besides Robin appearing in costume and agreeing to be a crime fighter, and it finishes with a "To Be Continued" like all the other issues), so this may be due the intended release of a TPB.
