Best of 2007?

POSTED BY Alex Zalben, 14 November 2007

Amazon.com has posted their "Best of 2007" list for graphic novels, comics, and comic related books.

Now while I don't disagree with any of the choices, I do think these were picked more for a cross-section of types of books rather than the actual quality of the volumes.

    The list is, in order:
    1. Stephen King's Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born
    2. The Perry Bible Fellowship: The Trial of Colonel Sweeto and Other Stories
    3. The Complete Peanuts 1963-1966 Box Set
    4. MAD's Greatest Artists: The Completely MAD Don Martin (MAD's Greatest Artists Series)
    5. Shortcomings
    6. Cat Getting Out of a Bag and Other Observations
    7. Sopratos, The: A Pearls Before Swine Collection (Pearls Before Swine)
    8. Reading Comics: How Graphic Novels Work and What They Mean
    9. Alice In Sunderland
    10. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight, Volume 1: The Long Way Home
So what do you think, Pulp Heads? What's your Top Ten for 2007?comics, of, Best, 2007

Well I know I could disagree with at least 9 out of 10 of their choices...

For instance, is 'Reading Comics: How Graphic Novels Work and What They Mean' by any definition a graphic novel?
or 'Mads Greatest Artists'? The Complete Peanuts?
It looks to me like at least 5 or 6 arent even graphic novels at all.

I really like Jeffrey Brown and all, but... the cat book and no Change-Bots? Really?

Well that is Amazon's "Editor's Picks" so it raises the question, "wtf does he know anyway?"
I put more credibility toward the lists based on purchases. That list is more realistic.
      1. Civil War (Marvel Comics)
      2. Da Brudderhood of Zeeba Zeeba Eata:
3.The Road to Civil War (Spider-Man, Fantastic Four)J. Michael Straczynski
      4.Incredible Hulk: Planet Hulk
      Greg Pak
