The Dark Tease?

POSTED BY Alex Zalben, 26 October 2007

Comics Alliance has the possible scoop about the teaser poster for Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight. The poster appeared over on Mel Wesson's website; Wesson being the guy who's writing the score for TDK with James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer. Check out the poster here, and more reactions after the graphic:

First off, I want to say that the Batman Begins score is excellent... There's very few pieces that could make me not miss Danny Elfman's Batman theme, but Zimmer & Howard's work on Batman Begins succeeded in creating a new, memorable piece of music that perfectly fit Nolan's movie. So I'm really looking forward to what the two, along with Wesson, come up with for the new flick.

Second of all, here's why the poster is probably not fake, but also possibly isn't the actual teaser poster. The poster looks too good for a fan work, and there's no reason the film's actual composer would put a piece of fan art on his site. However, given the placement of the Joker card practically floating in Batman's hand, it doesn't look quite good enough for an actual poster. My guess is that Wesson wanted to put a graphic on his The Dark Knight page, and asked the graphic department to throw him together a quick teaser pic; or they just sent him an early version of the a possible poster to use. Either way, this probably isn't the final, but it still looks pretty killer.

As a little added tidbit, here's Wesson's description of the movie from his site:
Overview: This is the one I've been waiting for. Another outing for Gothams Dark Knight, together with Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. I began working on ideas in mid September '07, it's a long schedule but it's good to have time to experiment and expand the ideas we had on Batman Begins into the darkness.... don't forget 'Not all jokes are funny'.
So what do you say, guys: are you sufficiently teased?
