All Rise for your new Captain America
Well, look who we have here... a brand New Captain America.
Newsarama broke the pictures above by Alex Ross of the new Captain America who'll be hitting the streets in January. Marvel has made it very clear that it will NOT be Steve Rogers in the suit... but has alluded to no one in particular who will fill the stars and stripes. Any thoughts? Hawkeye anyone? Obscure marvel hero? Rocket Racer?
Second point of interest: Cap's packing some major heat, a sidearm, perhaps harkening back to a WWII era Cap, and an oversized knife, in case he needs to clean a side of beef in a snap. The implications of a Captain America armed with more serious firepower are interesting. Is Marvel trying to make a politcal statement? Is this going to be another US Agent situation where Steve Rogers needs to come in and take down a Cap that is overly aggressive?

Well the best news is Ed Brubaker is still the writer behind this new Cap, and Epting will still be the artist. I'm not going to make any guesses about who the new guy is, and the only thing I find questionable about the new costume is the silly canteen. I like the look though, a lot.
The side arm and knife suggest that the new Cap isn't a friend of Cap, but maybe just a new soldier who volunteered for the gig.
Yeah I'm guessing it's going to be a totally new person. If it's an old character you could probably take a few good guesses about how they'd be as Cap, but if it's a totally new person, we'll never know! woo!

and of the near 8000 people who have voted, over half believe its just a temporary fill-in until steve rogers actually returns. Whats kind of cool is Ed Brubaker actually reads and posts to threads on newsrama so you know he's seeing direct feedback to how fans are feeling about the book.
