Batman's No. 1!

Well, Comic Book Resources' countdown of the Top 100 DC & Marvel Characters has come to a close, and with it comes few surprises. The top two spots for both Marvel and DC were easily predictable, Superman coming in runner-up and Batman takin' the gold for DC, and Spider-Man beating out Captain America for the top spot in the Marvel race. What did surprise me was Dr. Doom coming in at the fourth spot on the countdown. Doom is an awesome character that does not get as much play as he should, he's a genius who's gone bad, imagine if Stephen Hawkings was totally evil and out to rule the world...that's Doom. It's usually Magneto or a Spider-Man baddy gettin' all thte villain play, so I'm glad Victor won out.
I like the idea of fans voting on what characters they like the best, and not have it be the staff of "Wizard" or something pick who they think is the coolest. I hope this list sparks future installments such as 100 Favorite Story Arcs or 100 Best Single Issues, and though, like this list, the winners probably won't be a surprise, but at least there will be some interesting choices along the way.

So where's the list? Personally my favorites probably arent even marvel and dc, but having them as the only choice I'd have to say Batman is my favorite, but I dont buy any Batman books because its such a crapshoot whether the guy writing it will be worth a hoot, and if the artist is any good that week.
For me Joker would be 1st 'cause he has an intresting phsycology aswell as being visualy intresting. Although without the contrast between Batman and Joker he might not work so well.
Thanks for the article.
I like the idea of Doctor Doom. He always seemed to me like an "evil Batman". What if someone was so smart he could best Superman? What if someone was so smart he could best all of the Fantastic Four, Namor, and the Silver Surfer?
Sadly no one has carried off the role properly in film yet like he deserves, but what sounds evil, menacing, and megalomaniacal on paper sounds laughable in the movies. Magneto and the Joker are much more believable, probably because we can understand their motives easier than those of someone who is bent on galactic conquest.
