You're McKiddin' Me!
It looks as if yet another "Rome" cast member may be headin' to the big screen courtesy of Marvel Studios. McKidd played Lucius on HBO's short-lived television series about the fall of Julius Caesar, and IESB.net is reporting that Matthew Vaughan is considering him for the lead role in his upcoming Thor movie. If this is true then that would be the second "Rome" cast member to become a comic book character. Ray Stevenson, another "Roman" was confirmed last week as the lead in the new Punisher movie.
I was a big fan of McKidd on "Rome", and I could easily see him donning a long blonde wig and hammer to portray the God of Thunder. I love the idea of not using big names in comic book movies (ie: Ben Affleck in "Daredevil"), and finding lesser-knowns to play our favorite comic heroes. If this rumor is true, then I will personally become the Conductor on the Thor Movie Rumor Train, and keep you updated.
McKidd was great in Rome, he had quite an amazing range of personas in the series. He definitely deserves more roles in the future.
