Is the video messed up, or is it screwy on my end?

    • mauro (guest) wrote on August 13, 2:27 pm

Yeah, it's screwy on my end, too.

its working on youtube. Forget the bet I thought Petes main reason for not reading Final Crisis was a protest at how bad Countdown was? What happened to your resolve and conviction? I feel a let down that you caved in easily.

I am sorry I let you down. It was a protest but when you watch Fridays show, you will understand, why I did it.

    • Bombardem wrote on August 14, 4:56 am

Pete, I can understand the temptation since you never read the first issue. Believe me, had you read the first one, and then made the bet, you wouldnt have any problem ignoring this series completely...

I hope you dont think I was serious Im probably going to do the same on my Spiderman Brand New Day ban. You just keep thinking about what your missing and how thatll affect future cross overs so I understand

Anyone who is boycotting ASM just because of BND is doing themself a huge disservice. Spider-Man hasn't been this good in years and if you are any fan at all you are missing out.

Thats what I keep hearing but I still dont think the whole retcon was necessary to get those stories. Ultimately I just hate the Idea of Marvel ending up like DC changing the whole universe to the point it gets annoying to follow

Dang! Now I have to pick up F.C. #3...and I SAID I WOULDNT GIVE THEM ANYMORE OF MY CASH!...

      Please fix the download. Thanks.

      Really guys? Mojave?

    • Batchica wrote on August 13, 6:19 pm

Haha, why did it have the comic book club info at the end? I think Justin was going to sarcastically say, "Uhh, is that usually our email?" at the end, but Pete and Alex were talking and he didn't get to. LOL. Weird. :D

I know this will come as a real surprise, but the WMV download is FUBAR again...

I picked up Astonishing X-Men #25 for the art of Simone Bianchi. I was blown away by it and am on the lookout for more of his work. I'll probably pick up Secret Invasion: Thor for the same reason. The art in that looked great. Already have Final Crisis #3 on my pull list and will be on it faster than Lindsay Lohan can switch her gender preferences!!!

    • rmoonyose wrote on August 14, 2:47 am

Final Crisis #3 sucked. Final Crisis sucks, period! The first three issues felt like nothing but prelude. Shouldn't this all have been covered in DC Universe #0? (Though that comic was nothing but advertising, following brief three poage vignettes with an advertisement for that series right after.) Final Crisis is failing massively, more so then Secret Invasion. While I do think that, so far, the spin-off minis are doing a pretty good job, the main series is sucking it up completely. Final Crisis is what you get when a writer thinks anything he does is solid gold and will bash out any garbage cause he thinks anything with his name on it will be loved.

Pure fail! Pete, you weren't missing out on anything.

I loved Astonishing X-Men #25, particularly from a writing perspective. I think Simone Bianchi is an artist in transition, or evolution. They are really learning how to adapt this style of theirs to interiors, without losing the unique artistic style and vision they have for superheroes. I think its very important that we let this happen. Just look what happened in the 80's and 90's when artists like McFarlane, Lee, and yes even Liefeld were allowed to evolve their styles. McFarlane in particular had an arguably ugly style for many years but it evolved into the penultimate Spider-Man, and beyond, and raised the bar for comics as a whole. When you have guys like Greg Land literally tracing Victoria Secret catalogs I think you have to reward the artists who take real risks and try to raise comics into the realm of a higher art form.

I have three different opinions about the three different gender changes. Kraven, I don't care about. Ms. Sinister I don't know about yet. Loki, however, is awesome because he manages to come off as a lot more creepy and evil with breasts and that's great. Oh, the misogyny! :D

X-Men #26, Final Crisis #3, and Secret Invasion: Thor #1

Up first we look at X-Men #26.  Pete thinks this issue was fantastic.  Next up it's Final Crisis #3.  Alex reminds us about his million dollar bet with Pete.  Find out who has to pay up! Then it's Secret Invasion: Thor #1.  The guys like the perspective that the Secret Invasion satellite titles provide, and definitely think you should check it out.  During the Speed Round we check out Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas #2, Criminal #4, Crossed #0, The Twelve #7, and Chas: The Knowledge #2.  Then, Apollo writes in, "What's your opinion on all the recent Superhero sex changes going on like Kraven, Loki, and Ms Sinister?"  Be sure to watch and see what the guys' answers were!
