I like that Alex has mentioned Step Up twice in like the last 3 weeks.
Also, I think if it was something really important to you then you would be at least somewhat up to date, if its 6months past at the most I dont think you should have to say spoiler.
Here is my spoiler
At the end of Passion of the Christ - Jesus Dies
6 months is a good length, especially for main stream, major cross-over stories. I think that 6 months should be extended, however, for things that are very popular in TPB. Y: The Last Man is a good example of this as many, many people were waiting for the trade. In that case, 6 months after the trade is fine.
I have things inadvertently spoiled all the time with my "wait for the trade" style reading. It's never that devastating and I won't make a fuss over it. I don't think me not keeping up should prevent anyone else from discussing comics.
I do think it's important to clearly establish what you are talking about, however. If I read a forum thread about Runaways, for example, I'm expecting spoilers to be laying about and I will proceed at my own risk. It's not cool to pop up into random conversations and spoil unrelated things, as that doesn't prepare the readers/watchers/listeners. Don't jump into the said Runaways thread spoiling the end of The Dark Knight.
Just want to add that on the SomethingAwful forums, 4 weeks is about the length of time given before you can talk about something without spoiler tags. That seems to work alright as everybody is prepared for it and the threads tend to stick with single topics (The Batman Thread, The Ultimate Universe Thread, The Skrull Invasion Thread, etc.). If you are within one of those threads, you are generally there to discuss "current events."

just cause AND HAVE not yet picked up the lost ones so yaaa

i think its ok to spoil just throw us a warning like this
*SPOILER*
Bruce Wayne is Batman
someone delete this stupid waste of space...
It's never okay to spoil ANYTHING without a warning ahead of time that you are going to do so, thats why its called a SPOILER because you will ruin it for someone who hasnt experienced it yet.
The problem with YOU GUYS is you spoil books before they've even appeared on the shelves yet, and have done it repeatedly, with a certain amount of glee. Personally I've never read Y The Last Man, but I probably will someday soon. I'm sure I'm not alone either. Even more people will read it if it gets made into a film or HBO series as is rumored. Same with Watchmen, NO IT IS NOT OKAY TO SPOIL IT! There is no reason to do so either.
I would like to win a Zune because I'm a huge fan of Zune Arts and their efforts to showcase both musical and visual artists. I'm a design student (and comic fan) and you have no idea how cool it is to see a company who is willing to support art of all different styles from both old and new talent. Design and Music are what I'm about and having something like the Zune, that meshes them both would be awesome.
Not to mention, a Zune is about as cool as owning a jetpack... and jetpacks are sweet.
ps. I think Morning Breath had the most dynaic style in the Lost Ones, Dr. Revolt is a close second. Both their styles really match the content and tempo of the story. Especially with Morning Breath, using old school graphics as an underlay to the story fit really well with the theme but also added a design element that had meaning.
I would like to have a Zune cause if not, Zod will invade... and we'll end up kneeling before him.
And Zunes are cool!
zimtheinva5er@yahoo.com
Hey Justin. The 19th century was the 1800's. I don't think "Me and The Devil Blues" is set in that century. There guys, I just showed the world how stupid Justin really is, can I have a Zune now?
oh yeah, my email!
sande561@students.bju.edu
I would like to receive a Zune and or The Lost Ones because well... if not... there will be a rip in the spacetime continuum causing a new tangent universe to be formed. In this tangent universe all shall be changed... up is down... black is white... and a new three man comic review podcast is born, hosted by Dustin, Elex the Russian and Pablo. They use subliminal mind control to rise above The Stack. Also each episode they get three new beautiful ladies to showcase the comics... Price is Right style!!!! Also they will review an endless supply of Erotica... because... really...thats all we want in life... or at least in this tangent universe. This grabs the attention of the horny teenagers watching The Stack... they also wittily name their show The Rack. This is all a diversion from their real plans... to destroy all of existence. They will grow to so much power that they will be masters of their own corporate masters. Humanity enslaved... as quoted by the great Kevin Smith "In this backwards world... we wont spank the monkey the monkey will spank us." So please Justin, Alex and Pete... keep The Stack alive... do the right thing... be heroes to the world. P.S. they plan to Replicate the ending of Watchmen... you know what that means...
Sincerely,
Your new best friend

Yeah, Robert Johnson was definitely a blues (not jazz) guitarist from the 1930s, which would be the 20th century. Hence the name "Me and the Devil BLUES."
By the way, love the show!
Did I just nod off during the show, or did Alex never tell a "hilarious story about his embarrassing experience at Comic Con"?
That Devils Blues book was about Robert Johnson? And you guys said it was about Jazz? Holy crap, who could ever mistake RJ as a Jazz musician? He IS the Blues.
Pete seems to protest a little too much about sexual images in comics, Is he catholic?
Lets start this by sucking up... i hear it wins some brownie points... love the show... very entertaining... Now onto other matters, I would be rather exhilarated to win the Zune and or The Lost Ones... but you see... if I don't... there will be a tear in the spacetime continuum creating a tangible universe where we all will be forced to live. In this backwards tangent, up is down, black is white... and it will give birth to a new three man comic review podcast... with hosts Dustin, Elex and Pepe. They will do all they can to destroy The Stack. They will use tactics to steal viewers from The Stack... like beautiful barely clothed women to showcase the comics... it will be like The Price is Right... Vanna White style... They will wittily name their show The Rack... all to get us horny teens interested in them. Uh oh... with the demographic gone... The Stack will already start to fail... because we all know whoever holds the horny teenagers... holds the power... This is all a distraction though... to their real plan... to destroy all of existence as we know it. They will grow so powerful that they will become the masters of their own corporate masters. As written by the great Kevin Smith and spoken by Jay, "In this [backwards] world... we wont spank the monkey... the monkey will spank us" So Justin, Alex, Pete... are you actually wanting to be the reason all of existence would be destroyed? PS they are planning to replicate the ending of Watchmen... oh no SPOILER... just kidding... you know what that means though... its coming for you first... Anyway... it would be pretty rad if you picked me... because I don't really want to perish instantly and I am sure everyone could agree with me. So come on guys... Do us a favor... keep The Stack alive... keep us all alive... Pick me!
Sincerely
Your new best friend

talk to me sometime ;)
I recently started buying the Fables trades due to it being mentioned favourably on the show so im behind by a few years If you gave out spoilers for any of the arks in this series without warning it would ruin the story and make your recommendation a bit pointless as I wouldnt enjoy it as much.
Spoiler:
McCain is after you Justin. Run.
Spoilers? Tough question, guys, especially in your case, where you're offering your opinion to, potentially, dozens and dozens of viewers.
It would probably be a good idea to avoid spoilers altogether, or at the very least, offer a visual cue that you're discussing a spoiler so those that don't want to know can mute the episode till you stop discussing the spoiler. Otherwise, you run the risk of alienating your very speciallized audience, comic book readers.
Regarding erotica, I think that it can be seperated from the traditional hyper-sexualization that takes place in comics. Just like porn isn't a reflection of, or criticized along the same lines as nudity or sexualization in mainstream movies. I recommend Bill Willingham's Ironwood (still available from Fantagraphics, I think.) It has two volumes and is quite good.
In the next Harry Potter movie, Snape kills Dumbledore.
P.S. I realize you are sponsored by Zune, but I'd like to hear an honest review of The Lost Ones. I found it barely readable.
The world is often filled with sadness and despair, but THE STACK absorbs the tears of humanity, shouldering its eternal burden. For 10 minutes at a time, laughter echoes across the lands, and Pete's wisdom challenges the status quo, thus improving our place in the universe.
THE STACK IS LOVE.
lyons_85@hotmail.com
I pick up a lot of stuff (well, some) based on what I hear is good on the Stack, so I would prefer you not to give away important plot details without some kind of warning.
I really enjoyed the Zot webcomic on Scott Mcloud's site, so I think I will pick the book up today.
I suggest you say 'spoiler' in a comedy voice, clap your hands three times and put your fingers on your noses while you are spoiling. thanks.
On your PC look up ZOTZ DECALS see the eye
Hey guys, (especially Alex and Justin)
Please let Pete talk more -- it seems you're always cutting him off and you don't let him finish his points.
Some of us really like hearing what he has to say!
Just noticed you are always kind of dismissive of his opinions.
Cool, thanks, keep up this great show!
I'm a notably bigtime Apple Fanboy. iPod, iPhone, the works. Toss me a Zune and delight in the crow I'll have to eat carrying it around as my friends point and laugh, saying things like "Ha ha Roop! Hell must have just frozen over cause we see you're sporting a Zune! The Dark Side has you now sir!" ... Then I'll be forced to spread the word of PulpSecret.com and retort "No! I won it as a prize on my favorite blog and it's not that bad!"
The Rooper
therooper@cox.net
P.S. Did I type this already?
Ooh Zot! Yay! Scott's work has always been interesting, like his 24-hour comics and I think the Zot! is the closest character in the medium that coul in overtime ressemble a classic, folkish and even mythic character like, let's sa, Peter Pan or Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Very happy to see this out.
Small favors i could give it a shot, i have no problems with lesbians, dated a couple myself (who sad am I?) I just really really hope the story is also good, or I am hunting down Alex.
About the spoiler situation, i aggree with Pete (as usual, he s right hahahah) and here, i don't know how much is this a spoiler, but FOX did not pick this, don't know if you guys have seen it already; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnUvZP7-5LM

Zune. It's pretty dang epic. I desire this zune more than the daughters of the angels. It shall bring me the joy. The JOY OF SATISFACTION. Since I'm the only person I know with no cell phone or mp3 player. BUT I HAVE A RADIO. YES.

See a few shows ago Justin already spoiled Y:the last man, when answering a question, and it kinda got me angry cause i was only half way through it.
6 months is nothing. Not everyone can get it as it comes, and some people can't afford to get all the trades at once. It works for anything, unless it is like classic 10 years old or something, there is no reason to assume anything you say that might spoil something is okay to do.
Spoil RIP for me, please! It won't bother me, it sucks!
rmoonyose at gmail dot com
And make it snappy.
The episode where the question was, 'what is your favorite comic death' Justin Spoiled Ytlm for me when he said Agent 355. Thanks Jerk... (I still love you [not really {okay, a little bit}])
I just started reading Y a couple months ago and I'm only on tpb #5. So, yea, that sucked.
Anyway, no matter what time span is it's good form (from anyone) to just give a little spoiler alert.
Okay, on to lighter things.
I would love a copy of the Lost Ones and a Zune-Arts media player because if I don't get them for free I will die.
Actually the truth is, there are voices in my head saying that the only way they will give me peace is if I get these things for free.
No, the real, an most embarrassing truth is that I'm a stay at home dad and my social outlet is my comic-meetup group called 'The Comic Circle'
They are always impressed by how much I know (because I watch The Stack all the time. And one of my greatest joys is to show of to them how I am riding the crest of the cutting edge of comics.
Tah-Dah.
*spoiler*
i get a zune media player.

***SPOILER!!!***
I'M STILL BLIND FROM WHEN YOU GUYS TOOK YOUR SHIRTS OFF ON CAMERA RECENTLY!!!
***END SPOILER!!!***
I agree with putting up a fair amount of warning before spitting up spoilers, but if I get a ZUNE MEDIAPLAYER plus THE LOST ONES hard copy, I would not care less even if you spoil all stories ever made. You could rant all you want and put up extensive detailed write-up about how the Skrulls are invading the whole planet because I would not be able to notice you, the ZUNE MEDIA PLAYER and LOST ONES Graphic Novel would have saved me from the spoiler, from when I receive them to the future.
-javion_black@yahoo.com
For me who lives in Sweden, I one issue cost as much as half the price of one trade. So I always get the trades, so therefor I always try to avoid spoilers until I have read the trade. Now for the zune part, I want a zune because I am a robot that they didn't install a music player in, and do you know how I recharge? I have to shove batteries up my ass... Yupp... slymekun@gmail.com. Just help a fellow robot out. T-T
Zune. Because my Diamond Rio only holds 18 mp3's.
I'm not a person who is opposed to spoilers. I find that, in order for many works to have an appropriately meaningful discourse, having the "spoiler" out in the open is pretty essential. I find it silly to get upset that comic media has spoiled a plot point. You should sort of expect things to be spoiled when you know comics will be discussed. Pulp Secret telling me Captain America is dead is much different than the front page of Yahoo.com telling me he is dead at 8 am the day the book will be released.
Plus, I like free comics... and would like a Zune... deetroyt@hotmail.com... cheers
What's more to love than Pete's love for Wolverine or Punisher?
Watching The Stack and also Entring the contest to win.. a FREE ZUNE PLAYER!!
HELL YEAH!!!!
AND I'll KEEP COMENTING UNTIL I WIN ONE!!
UNTIL THEN
KEEP ON STACKIN' :D
...I know it's lame LOL

Thanks for talking about the Zot collection and even moreso suggesting that it is an essential book for any comic collection. Zot is everything you said and more and shows that Scott McCloud was a master of the art before becoming an educator of the art.
Thanks again!

I love this week's panel discussion. I myself am not a person who gets upset about spoilers. I heard the ending of Y: The Last Man weeks before I finally got a hold of the final issue and it didn't phase me at all.
Sometimes knowing the spoiler ahead of times helps the viewer understand the story better as a whole.
rorschachmask@hotmail.com
I think that with regards to spoilers that in any medium there is a concensus date, by which most fans or observers of that medium will have taken the spoilerable object in. For example, 2 weeks for widely reIeased movie seems to be about the time it should take before the majority of people will have seen that movie. Of course not everyone will have seen the movie/ object in question, but 2 weeks will give a pop culture participant plenty of time to figure out their level of interest etc.. Special circumstances, i.e. "I was on vacation, I missed it completely" are special for a reason, but realistically give it 2 weeks, the it should be fair game. All that aside, I am again asking for a Zune player, and I will reiterate that I am loyal to your cause in spite of my situation. So hook it up.

Robert Johnson is a BLUES GUITAR PLAYER. Shame on you! The guy is only the most famous bluesman of all time. He's to blues what Charlie Parker was to jazz or Jimmy Page is to rock. SHAME! Otherwise... great show like always.
