I think I deserve the Stargate Dvd because I have been watching the series since the start and I was 8 then so my devotion to it is beyond question, that and I don't have any money to buy the dvd so... that and I always watch Pulp Secret so yeah... I deserve to win. Thank you for you consideration.
I want the stargate dvd for my mommy cuz she loves stargate like crack.
Superboy and Bart Allen's death affected me the most just because Geoff Johns put so much effort in making Superboy an interesting character and then he just killed him off.
And Bart Allen after Infinite Crisis was all around terrible because without him Teen Titans isn't fun anymore to me. I loved Impulse, I liked Kid Flash, but Bart Allen as the Flash was way too soon and the writers didn't make him fun.
The most significant death for me was Mimic in Exiles #73. He had been my favourite character throughout the series. After spending issues #66-68 finding a second healing factor for him only to have him taken over by Proteus in #71 and slowly drained of life for the next two issues was heartbreaking. I really thought that the team for rescue him before he died but I was wrong and I felt for a little while that I was going to loose interest in the title. Luckily I didn't (well before Chris Claremont took over), but i still missed the character and the worst thing is that a death in 'Exiles' is permanent.
(also posted to youtube as deadsmurf38 since I wasn't certain where you meant by 'below')
why I would like to have this video:
Well, my girlfriend is a huge Stargate fan, and if you guys gave me this DVD, I could give it to her. She is always super stressed about work, school and volunteering that she does, and this would make her super happy, especially since she's undergoing a little bit of financial hardship right now, and wouldn't really be able to buy the DVD.
Plus I so know if I give her it, I'll totally get lucky. :P
are you guys gonna have a booth at sdcc?
The death that impacted me the most was Rorschach. Nuff said.
I would like this dvd because it looks most excellent, and also I spend all my money on comics.
I would love a copy of the Stargate DVD to give to my new wife; she teaches middle school science and is constantly on edge and in a rush during the school year. she loves the Stargate shows, and this would be a great way for us to make some time to spend together for her to unwind.
also, Mimic's death in Exiles, and 355's at the end of YtLM were both huge shockers that actually had me put the book down for a few minutes before I could keep reading.
I wrote up an explanation of exactly what's going on in Omega the Unknown here. It does actually mean something, and no, drugs wouldn't help you understand it.
Hey, it didn't let me write the link. Blah. Here:

Thank you for this contest opportunity (and for providing clips from the movie). I would like the Stargate: Continuum dvd because I LOVE Stargate SG-1!
Please send me a stargate dvd.
After watching your Dark Knight review I went out and bought a cool cowboy shirt just like Justins. Its such a great shirt I haven't taken it off in days...
Unfortunately it smells pretty disgusting now after sleeping in it for a few nights and wearing it around town. My girlfriend has stopped calling me and I was sent home from the office early after my colleagues complained about my personal hygiene. I tried explaining to my boss how much I loved the shirt and how it inspired me to embrace cowboy culture. She lectured me and even had the audacity to say that the public weren't interested in buying health insurance over the phone from a guy with a John Wayne accent. Oh please! How could she confuse a John Wayne accent with my stylised riff on Clint Eastwoods 'man with no name'. Plus some varmint in accounts complained about me using the water cooler as a spittoon.
So anyway my supervisor phoned me to tell me not to come back as this was the third time this had happened (I'm not even going to get into the whole Viking thing!). I figure I'm not going to be able to afford to pay rent or buy food for a while but I learned some pretty cool survival skills while researching cowboys. Did you know you can drink your own urine?
Please send me a stargate dvd.

COMPLETELY disagree with you guys about Secret Invasion. It is a bit slow, but to say that "nothing is happening" is such a blanket statement and completely unfair to the book.
But I do agree with Alex about Uncanny 500. I got my issue early this week (thank you Marvel Mail Service) and the only bad thing about the issue was one joke that made me roll my eyes that seemed a little forced and one bad panel by Greg Land (not a fan, but I'm no hater either). It was fun, I enjoy the new setting, and I'm looking forward to see what the antagonists have up their sleeves.
Oh, and I agree with Alex again about Spider-Man and X-Force. I love the reboot.
But about what death got to me most? I can't think of a comic death that affected me more than Lieutenant Hughes from Full Metal Alchemist. Other than that the only two other comics that brought tears to my eyes were Avengers: Initiative #13 and Punisher War Journal #15 and it wasn't even because anybody died.
I would looooove a copy of the SG Continuum DVD 'cause JACK is BACK and he's HOT stuff! He's so funny, gorgeous, witty and more. Richard Dean Anderson is the classiest hunk on TV right now. So much that I'm going out West to see him at Gatecon in August. If you gave me the DVD, I would give it to RDA and Captain Paul watson of the Sea Shepherd to auction it off for donations to the Sea Shepherd Society, brave protector of our marine species and environments.

I would like a copy of the movie for a simple reason actually. My father is probably one of the biggest Stargate fans I've ever known. He's been watching since it's had it's start on Showtime to when it moved to the Sci Fi channel and has followed it to the first DVD movie. Why give it to him? Because in all my years of knowing the man I've never seen him be as intense w/anything like he is w/Stargate. He's the type who likes action/comedy movies and if you ever spoke to him you would never believe that he's a total sci fi nerd. He never speaks about sci fi, he never mentions it, he just looks like your average sports loving beergut having old man, but when the time comes he switches that channel over from the game and you can hear the theme song play from out his room into the hallway. So if anything he'd really love to have the DVD. I'm sure right now he doesn't even know it's out since he's been in Ohio away from all civilization due to his mother (my grandmother [duh]) passing away. It'd be a nice welcome home gift let's just say that.
Once again the WMV download of the show doesnt work...sent email about it 4-5 hrs ago, still doesnt work...
As far as the Stargate DVD ... I would like a copy for one simple reason, I have never seen the show. Yep, that's right, never watched it. Well, that is not really true. I do catch the last one or two minutes of the Atlantis version before my Battlestar Galactica airs, but other than that, nothing. No vested interest in it what-so-ever. So who better deserves a copy than someone that has spent no time watching the show? I think this is an easy win for me. "Hurray for me".
And guys ... puh-lease ... Barry Allen created the biggest personal impact of all comic deaths.
Peace and keep up the good work.
Wow, thanks Justin, I guess I can just stop reading Y:The Last Man now.
I've made reference to this before when the question was about favorite comic battles, but my favorite comic book death is the (first)death of Jean Grey at Dark Phoenix saga's end. When I first read the Dark Phoenix Saga trade I was about 8 or 9 years old and I was so into what was going on throughout the story and to see the climax be Jean choose suicide to to save the cosmos and her friends was more than a great death but in my opinion one of comics most effective, moving and shocking moments. I also think its a great death because it was a noble act on Jean's part and the moment really defined this character who was fairly boring before this. Just thinking about those final panels when Jean shoots herself and calls out to Cyclops "SCOTT" and Cyclops to her "JEAN" in those blood red dialog balloons still moves me.
The "bet" was not to read "Final Crisis". The "bet" has not been broken. Dan Didio would say. "you can read 'Final Crisis' without reading the tie-ins", Pete just flipped the saying a little.
Cracker Jack Jackson's death was the most painful in comics history.
I need the Stargate Continuum for my wife is the best fan ever. We had the premium satellite service (all the channels), yet she thinks the only channel is SciFi and the only show is Stargate. 'nuff said.
Shame on Pete for not saying this... but the heaviest comic death would definitely have to be Ringo Chen from Hitman.
And as a punishment, I think Pete shouldn't be allowed to read any of the Final Crisis tie-ins.
Stargate, to me, is an example of the kind of show that justifies the existance of television. It may not be genra-spanning like Battlestar Galactica, and it may not have trillions of insanely dedicated fans like Star Trek, but to me it strikes the perfect balance of just flat out being a good fun show. Every episode can be watched by themselves, and yet EVERYTHING comes back as something important eventually. It knows when to poke fun at itself, it knows when to take itself seriously, it's just smart enough without being TOO smart, and it's grounded just enough in the real world that it avoids almost all of the problems other scifi franchises suffer from. This is the only show in recent memory that's actually been able to surprise me on a regular basis, and as someone who watches tv and reads comics for the stories, that's a priceless feature. Absolutly priceless.
Dearest Alex, Justin, & Pete. This summers warmth can only be eclipsed by your podacast and the Stargate Continuim dvd. I will tell my grandchildren it was the coldest summer in all my life without recieving that dvd's sweet sweaty heat. Final Crisis has it own crisis of being jam packed with to many stories where as Secret Invasion goes down the hole of who the Hell I'm I. They both keep me frozen with disbelief of why were they published. The only heat to defrost me from my frozen iceberg is Teal'c stern action, Jackson's compassion, and Carter's being cute. So I plead with my heart release me from this damn freezing tomb that Mr.Freeze, Captain Cold, Killer Frost, & the Icecle have cast me in. Give to me the only drop of sun I will see this summer from a shining brightly Stargate dvd.
A Plea to DC: Please hire Greg Land to an exclusive contract, please please please....if I never see him do another X book again it will be too soon. I'm so utterly baffled why they allow this hack to work at Marvel, especially on what should have been a super classic #500th issue.
Secret Invasion's main title needed to be bi-weekly or weekly if the story was going to progress so slowly. These flashback stories in all of the Bendis books are just getting old. Mighty Avengers was the same thing, 22 pages of Elektra being replaced. Gosh ya think they coulda told this story 8 months ago, when it would have been cool? I'm just more and more disgusted with Bendis on this. What could have been a very clever and cool epic has just become tedious. Sadly it's still better than Final Crisis...
The most profound comic death for me was in Kamandi #6 (I think ) when his girlfriend Flower dies. His grief was so genuine.
Jack Kirby always did death, and its aftermath well. Another that really hit me was the death of Seagrim in New Gods.
Rorschachs death in Watchmen was great too.
Ah, Bombardem! You can keep saying Secret Invasion is better than Final Crisis...but you know you're just going through the motions now!
So, Bomb, you're a big fan of DC? Is that why you want Mr. Land drawing books there?
As for the death question how can somebody pick just one? Back in the day, I'd have to go with Jean (the first time)in X-Men # 137. Elektra in DD # 181. As others mentioned, Rorschach in Watchmen. Barry Allen in Crisis. More recently, Mimic in Exiles. 355 in Y the Last Man. And, Lori and her baby (and the rest of the gang) in Walking Dead # 48. Oh, and Tyresse getting his head cut off in WD # 46 was freakin' gruesome and sad.
hello,
long time watcher, first time commenter, just wanna let you guys know I really enjoy what you're doing, both the stack episodes and the review-a-day. keep it up!
Please don't send me anything to do with Stargate. Stargate is a prime example of why Sci-Fi, other than Battlestar Gallactica, is an ailing fetid genre, filled with low level poopy. Sci-Fi have had so little so long, that they cling to even the most poorly conceived crap. Stick this dvd where you keep your Forever Knight and Highlander collection, hopefully in a donkey's butt.
Now, on to great comic book deaths that should stay dead (or should have):
Jean DeWolff (the Sineater story is so bittersweet)
Ned Leeds (because SPider-man VS Wolverine is one of the best comics ever and you young bits better go and read it!!)
Rorshach & The Comedian (cuz Watchmen is all)
Ben Parker (without his death, you have nothing)
Dr. Thomas Wayne & Martha Wayne (Ditto)
Jean Grey: Phoenix (such a touching story lasts much longer and becomes legend,if you don't retcon it to meaninglessness!!)
Gwen Stacy (this is an important moment in comics)
Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (although he's fun in Thunderbolts)
Abin Sur/Green Lantern
Barry Allen/Flash
Blue Beetle (heroic death, good for Ted!)
Azrael/Batman (who liked this guy)
Crimson Fox and others (who the Mist kills after they finally become interesting making for a very Pulp Fictiony "Star Man" issue)
Black Goliath (that was just cold Thorbot!!)
Captain Marvel(classic...and he still is)
Folks that should never have died:
Colossus
Green Arrow
Harry Osborn/Green Goblin
Big Barda ( I didn't even know this!! That sucks!!)
Bart Allen/Flash (stop killing Flashs!!)
Betty Ross Banner (BET..TI??)
Jade (only character DC had that had the sexy appeal of Shehulk)
Phantom Lady (this is a crime for my eyes!!)
Mariko Yashida (I guess you don't get to love Wolvie and live, but she made him classy)
Moira MacTaggert (same with Charles Xavier)
Mysterio (I'm a silly, but classic "special effects" villain with the coolest helmet ever...why ruin a good thing?)
Lastly.... The Question (Yeah, just kill the best underground character you have other than John Constantine.. Woah, they should have had a team up!! fuck you DC!)

I would really, Really, REALLY love to win a copy of Stargate Continuum on DVD. And I think I trully deserve to win because I'm a loyal longtime fan of all the Stargate franchise ever since the '94 original Stargate movie. I haven't missed a single episode of either Stargate SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis and even if SG-1, my favorite Stargate title, ended last year, I'm very thankfull that we, the real fans, still have Atlantis and some great direct-to-DVD movies. I'm also looking forward for the upcoming series, Stargate Universe, and I hope that it will be as good the other TV shows. It would be awesome if there will be more Stargate movies in the future, maybe even a theatrical release.
I assure you that I'm one of the few people that would sincerely appreciate and be extremely happy to be one of the winners of these DVDs. I don't think there are many others which want this as badly as me.
I hope I convinced you. I'm not that creative to find some out-of-this-world reasons; I think my simple words, but honest love for everything Stargate are even better than some big, but somewhat meaningless words.
Big thanks for this contest and for the chance you're giving us to win a Stargate Continuum DVD.
Best regards,
Alex. ;)
I need one of the Stargate: Continuum DVDs. My nerd cred is slipping, and nothing says "this dude is a hard-core nerd" quite like a direct-to-DVD copy of a sci-fi film leaning up against the Xbox.
I work at a supercomputer center surrounded by PhDs. This is my only hope for keeping my nerd-cred high enough to hang with this crowd. Help a brother out.
I like stars.
And my house has a gate.
I win.
Alex likes a fun X-men story, and I agree. You know what else is fun? Amazing Spider-Man and the Brand New Day storyline. It's as if the Straczynski civil-war freak-out storyline were the aberration and now with BND we've returned to the Fun Spidey. Dig it!
I think Pete was well within the spirit of the bet and given the previous allowance reading Rogue's Revenge is okay.
All the Stargate SG-1 fans are going to go out and buy Stargate: Continuum. However, I am not a fan of the show and will never buy the dvd, which is why you should send me a free copy.
secret invasion is not bad! a lot of stuff is happening and saying that nothing is happening is just plain dumb!
i agree with justin about spidey, it's alright. i think they are just adding vilains for the first couple months then when new ways to die starts they will have new uses for them. like how menace is planned to fight goblin (hooray)
and also bob gale should just stay away from comics his dialoge is clunky and forced a lot of the time.
For me, the Death of Captain Marvel has to be the most heart felt and well handled death in comics.
I won't say anymore, just go read it.
'Glum
Great Show once again... you are pure stand-up comedy :Ppp
I think with the whole crisis.. Pete's ok.. tho Crisis sucks :P (for me)..
anyway, death... death... death... hmm.. i dont want to get to the old ones.. so i think Tyreese.. from the Walking Dead. That was NOT cool. :(
Great show once again! Lotta laughs.. you guys r stand-up comedy..
anyway..
Death.. im not gonna say anything from the old ones.. so.. for me is Tyreese from The Walking Dead. That was saaaaad.
stargate is fuckin clown shoes
more contests
less clown shoes
did u hear that BET is gonna have a Black Panther cartoon??????
Pete. Pay up dude!
superboy infinite crisis "wasn't it cool" *dead*
I should get the Stargate DVDs because I have never been able to get into sci-fi DVDs and this could be a good entry point for me. Plus, I'm confused as to why there a two us in Continuum.
I think that death in comics is a joke now. Nothing lasts. How am I gonna react to something I know will be retconned in like 3 mounths? That line in Final Crisis were Superman says "We Will Pray For A Resurection" was bullshit. Superheroes are not gods they cant come back once there gone.
Hey guys, I think the show is great, keep it up! I have to agree with the comments on Uncanny X-Men 500. I was expecting a more drastic change in the X-Men from the issue. As for the Stargate Continuum DVD, I would really like to win one! I am currently a college student preparing for a major exam in my program. It is a highly stressful test and I think the DVD would provide a nice break from the stress of studying. I have followed the show from the beginning (through the switch from HBO to Sci-Fi) and have always been a fan! So I would really like it if you considered me for a copy of the DVD. Thanks!
This spring I started rewatching Stargate SG-1 from the beginning and I'm very close to the end. If I win a Stargate Continuum DVD of those you have, I'll have the nice opportunity to finish the Stargate saga in style by watching Continuum, courtesy of you. I've heard it's great.
So, please, pick me. Pretty please :)
I want so much a copy of the Stargate Continuum DVD because I love Stargate, it's my favorite show, and it would be great if I can win one. In fact, winning one is my only chance of having it, because I can't buy it. This DVD won't be released overhere, at least not this year. I'd buy it from Amazon, which is the only major online store shipping worldwide, as far as I know, but my mother won't let me use her credit card to pay, and, furthermore, if I'd buy from Amazon then I'd have to pay custom fees, which almost equals the price of the DVD+shipping. If it comes as a gift I wouldn't have to pay this taxes. Please, I'm begging you. And I'm honest about this; I haven't made it up, trust me. I think it's a very strong reason to give 1 of those 3 DVD's to a fan who unfortunatelly doesn't lives in the US. By the way, I hope this contest is open worldwide since you haven't mentioned anything about the eligibility.
I would like a copy because if there was ever a time for Justin to deliver something to Grand Forks, ND in his SG-1-String it would be now while it's still warm. Plus, it's North Dakota so I don't have much to do but watch straight-to-dvd movies. If I win this one, I can buy Starship Troopers 3 with a free conscience.
