      Oh great Pete is back....hooray?

Invasion is pissing me off. Their still on the damn island when were half way threw! Sure we get more NYC action and space stuff....but this is getting nowhere fast. Although Widow's idea to detect Skrulls is pretty funny.

Oh by the way, for two straight episodes your show ends at 2 mintues and just suddenly stops...Yeah you might wanna fix that, or maybe your 'great' tech man plasticbugs is too lazy again to fix anything.

      Welcome back Pete!!

    • BeastBoyJoe (guest) wrote on July 14, 1:20 pm

      Hey cool! Pete's back!

Simple response to the viewer question: Marvel has no answer to Batman. Just like DC has no answer to Spidey.

Lastly, I think the candids at the end of the episode were neat. More of that would be fun.

I believe that Moon Knight is like Batman...with his dark nature and nice toys..even though he is a little crazy

    • IJones (guest) wrote on July 16, 10:38 pm

Batman was who Doug Moench modeled Moon Knight after. Sadly, he doesn't have the "umf" that BM does and comes across as a poor man's BM.

Justin is on to something with Fury. Not Wolverine. BM has some of those leadership skills like Cap. Next week's question should be "Who in the DCU is more like Cap?"

I know Bendis was aiming for some kind of tracking shot over the carnage to set the scene, but we've been setting the scene for half the series already and yes, it's getting extremely boring.

Requiem i enjoyed quite a bit. For the most part because it took a despised scene from Final Crisis and made it memorable by completely ignoring it's original intent.

As far as Young X-Men, it needs to go away and New X-Men needs to resume as though it never left.

    • Eirik Uthus (guest) wrote on July 14, 3:47 pm

Thanks for another good episode of the stack.

Though Marvel doesn't have a Batman, I think the idea of Nick Fury is the best answer. He got the mystery, the knowledge and the tech (at least when he was director of shield).

      Loved the outtakes :D

Good episode, glad to have pete back!

    • Gorgeousaur wrote on July 14, 4:48 pm

I don't agree with you about Secret Invasion. I like how the sh*t hit the fan the first issue and then left the heroes scrambling to regroup. I admit they're not the most exciting issues, but I don't feel like the title is "going nowhere". And I do agree that the tie-ins are better than the main series but I don't see that as a bad thing since I'm still enjoying it.

    • Andy (guest) wrote on July 14, 4:49 pm

      Great episode guys!!

I especially love the outtake type stuff at the end of the show, I love when you guys do that. Always have, always will.

    • Jawshoowah (guest) wrote on July 14, 4:54 pm

I thought the entire point of Black Panther was to be Marvel's batman.

    • Rubato wrote on July 14, 7:00 pm

      Agreed.

Thats exactly what i was gonna say.

Black Panther is very smart, prepared, has martial arts skills, gadgets, is a non nonsense kinda guy... he lacks the paranoia and playboy angles though.

Wolverine has some Batman too, there's a reason he was fused with him during the whole amalgam thingie.

Iron man i gotta disagree. They share some stuff, but i dont think Tony is in the same league as Bats when it comes to brains. T'Challa on the other hand, i think so.

And im not liking secret invasion either... i mean its not bad, but every issue feels the same to me... nothing REALLY happens...

And Requiem was awesome. Final Crisis FTW!

    • stuffdaddy wrote on July 14, 10:42 pm

Thank you, I was going to worry if no one mentioned this... Black Panther!!! He's Batman, meets James Bond, meets W. E. B. Du Bois!! Yes!!

    • D. Peace (guest) wrote on July 14, 9:51 pm

How could anybody be surprised that nothing is going on in SECRET INVASION? It's written by Bendis. That guy is and always has been, the undisputed king of wanky dialogue comics, where nothing happens for issues on end. I began to realize this in 2002 when I noticed that it took him six issues of ULT. SPIDER-MAN to tell a single issue's worth of stories. It's painful to read.

      Welcome back, Pete!

    • stuffdaddy wrote on July 14, 10:46 pm

Honestly, Moon Knight gets his ass handed to him by the Black Panther. The Black Panther would also kick Bruce's ass, I hate to say, if they stopped writing Batman as, "I can beat Galactus or Darksied when given enough time to plan, but somehow am still troubled by a clown with a knife."

    • Rubato wrote on July 15, 12:21 am

Duude, the Joker gives Superman trouble... he's hardcore...

and he still gets beaten by the Bat, so there you go...

    • stuffdaddy wrote on July 15, 12:51 am

If I write it that way, I can give Superman trouble. Just like the fact that the Flash has villains who don't have speed power. The Flash would deposit every non speed villain he has into prison with their freeze guns or mirror guns up their you know where, 1 sec after they thought about committing a crime. Writing the Joker as a foil for Superman is writing. The Dark Knight will show you how the Joker should be... but still not a match for Supes on a power level. Still, you don't race bikes against sports cars. I could care less about who can beat who. I love Batman, but it's hard to reconcile how the JLA evolved tactition Batman, would have any trouble with what are basically, hyped up Dick Tracy villains. What DC does, sadly, is the decide to up the non super characters to a point where they really are basically super. The Joker becomes "super crazy" Batman is "Super prepared." This is a disservice to The characters because DC folks are on the whole so powerful, that more down to earth characters like Batman and the Joker need to be escalated in order to matter. Sometimes I wish John Constantine would just kick everyone's ass and depower them all back to a level where writing matters again. I would love a Superman who can only jump high and is only as strong as ten men. At least marvel can tell stories about DareDevil and Spidey and other moderately powerful players.

    • Uthor wrote on July 15, 3:28 am

"you don't race bikes against sports cars."

It's actually usually a very good race when you race bikes against cars. A bike is faster in a straight line, but a car can carry more speed through a turn.

Hey I eats Planets. I posted a blog review of those comics. Stop killing puppy's and goldfish!

    • Bombardem wrote on July 15, 6:27 am

I'd say Marvel doesnt have a Batman. They dont allow pedophiles in the Marvel universe. They also dont allow their heroes to wear their underwear outside their clothes, and if Wolverine see's a guy wearing a cape he kicks their pansy ass.

Marvel is for real heroes, and real villains. We dont need no stinkin Batman.

As for Secret Invasion, I've been saying all along Bendis is overrated. New Avengers has gone 40 issues and never finished a single story arc, despite starting a dozen or more. I'm not saying I didnt enjoy NA, it was always fun, but it wasnt good story telling. I dont think SI will have an end either. I think its gonna get to issue 8 and all its gonna do is be an introduction to the prelude of the next big event. All that being said, it's still head and shoulders better than Final Crisis...

    • Andy (guest) wrote on July 15, 9:25 am

I find your comments regarding Batman's "pedophilia" highly distasteful.

    • metamorphic wrote on July 15, 12:46 pm

Ah, Bombardem...you forgot about Namor the "Who wears short-shorts?" Submariner, didn't you?
In the illuminati yet can't figure out how to put on pants.
      (Super-heroes are crazy!)

    • Bombardem wrote on July 15, 2:56 pm

What else do you call a man who dresses his 12 year old "partner" up in spandex underwear, and then teaches them how to wrestle...And does it repeatedly with more young boys despite them getting assaulted and killed. Sorry you do it once, you're a nice guy, you do it 4 or 5 times you are a predator. You do all this secretly, you are a serial rapist.

    • Andy (guest) wrote on July 16, 10:35 am

If the character is not explicitly stated to be a pedophile, then he isn't. DC's the New Frontier did a great job of explaining why Batman needs Robin, Batman wants to scare criminals not children. Clearly Robin is a marketing ploy to get younger people to read comics, that doesn't make a character he is associated with sexually active with him. That would be like saying "oh yeah Captain America and Falcon. They are gay. Well they have to be, they are "partners" and always have each other's "backs"'

Jason Todd is the only Robin to have died, and Tim Drake would be Robin regardless of Batman's approval, so are you going to let him go untrained? Batman only is training the Future, it isn't sexual.

Your interpretation of the character is simply lazy.

    • HipHopHead wrote on July 15, 12:57 pm

Wasn't Marvel's answer to Batman: Nighthawk? How about Moon Knight? See how the character of "Batman" does not work in the Marvel Universe? Marvel is about radiation poisoning and exposure to radioactive isotopes.

Bendis is far from overrated. Bendis is a writer who has the talent to write comic books. He may be a little wordy, but we do "read" comics.

New Intro: "There is me who is Alex and my fellow Droogs"

Are we gonna fix these site problems? Is the comment box going to get larger? Is the video problems going to be fixed? Are the message boards going to be updated and fixed up?

Either tell me now that your fixing it, or I'll just leave this fucking lazy site and not come back. There's more then just one comic book site to go on.

    • Bombardem wrote on July 15, 2:44 pm

I couldnt agree more. There was absolutely no reason for the site changes that were made, and NONE of the things that were broken when that happened have been addressed. Dump this shitty Next New Networks, and find a real production company who is going to give the show support.

    • Scott Moschella (guest) wrote on July 15, 4:56 pm

Hey, we're definitely addressing these issues. I need to know what the video problems that you're having are. We're making the comment box bigger - you're right, it is WAY too small. Also, please let me know what needs fixing over on the message boards. Thanks for putting up with these problems in the meanwhile. Any other problems, please post them here or email them to tips@pulpsecret.com (myself and The Stack hosts read every email we get).

    • TheNextChampion (guest) wrote on July 15, 7:07 pm

Thank you! Finally, after episodes of complaining you increase the comment box!

What else needs fixing is that I want to see what new comments come up on the main page. You know, on the old site you could tell who said what next on each page. Also, the recents videos just end at 2mins and just stop. It asks me to replay but it still stops at the 2min mark. Finally, the message boards are waay too long vertically. When I want to post something I have to move the page around in order to find the box to type in.

If you can fix these things in a day or two, like how your rushed after our negative comments on this one....My threat of changing sites will be gone. :P

    • Bombardem wrote on July 15, 10:43 pm

Come on, theres a thread on the message board about how messed up the message board is, what the problems are, with screenshots and everything. Not to mention I sent you an email with a link to the thread on the board.

BTW still havent gotten any swag in the mail...

I was actually thinking about the Iron Man/Batman connection the night I saw the Iron Man movie. Jarvis was a computer instead of Stark's butler, and I think it may have been done to keep audiences from thinking that Iron Man was a Batman ripoff. Obviously comic fans know better, but most moviegoers don't.

    • rmoonyose wrote on July 16, 4:19 am

Jesus, you people do nothing but bitch.

"Pete sucks, the site sucks, waaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!"

      Pathetic.

And for the record I've never had a single problem with this site.

High speed broadband connection and Firefox 3.0 (and before that 2.whateveritwasbefore3.0). Works fine.

Keep up the good work, fellas!

And I'll agree with Pete, Wolverine is probably the closest thing to Batman Marvel has. Very cosmopolitan, they both have this appreciation for Eastern mysticism, trained as bad ass ninjas. They both have bullheaded, individualistic streaks and'll take off on a whim. They're both dark and prone to brooding. Batman is a detective while Wolverine has a really keen nose good for detecting.

Iron Man is a rich super smart engineer, but that's about it. Character wise, no comparison.

But BeastBoyJoe had it right, there is no Marvel character that could compare directly to Batman.

    • dellis wrote on July 16, 9:55 pm

You guys drive me nuts when you talk about Captain Britain and MI THREE. You have talked about MI THREE for THREE issues. Have any of you actually READ the title? Are you reading some kind of variant? All three issues that I have read are MI THIRTEEN.
