Wow let Pete talk. Why review a movie none of you have seen? Hey I'm looking forward to your review of batman on Monday. Come on guys step it up a bit.

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 29, 1:05 am

Gentlemen, why are you reviewing a movie you haven't seen yet? Bad idea. Oh, Alex and Justin, when Peteis trying to make a point, please let him. The game between you two went on a bit too far. Nice comeback with the wrap up through.

What tops my comic pile every month? Walking Dead.

    • Andy (guest) wrote on June 29, 11:43 am

Well they aren't reviewing it, they are talking about thier impression of the movie from the trailers and what they have heard. They didn't tell you what they thought of the movie, just what they expecting.

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 30, 10:50 pm

Okay. But, isn't this a show about reviews? When they talked about Hulk, they had seen it. Talk about Wanted in the next show.

I know Alex said it's not like Tiny Titans...but it looks exactely like Tiny Titans!!!! You guys were iffy on that, but love this? Makes no sense. >_<

Wow a superhero comic that involves a hero going from best to worst...geez havent seen that before. (cough)Booster Gold(cough). Duel sounds like a good difference from the normal comics.

As for Wanted, I dont think I will ever want to watch it. The reviews for it has been positive so far. But being a non-fan of the TPB and just not caring for this story....I just dont wanna see it. Even if the action will be Kill Bill like, off the wall, blood everywhere picture...Just not gonna see it, maybe rent it, but that's a weak maybe.

Wanted kicked major ass. Even though it deviated from the comic material in a big way - it was still a very good movie, it had an overall good plot and Angelina was smoking hot in this one.

      Wanted Schmanted.
The book wasn't that great, so I can't expect the movie to be a whole lot better.

    • Moeez wrote on June 27, 3:15 pm

Now I gotta get Mini Marvels :P And Sparks. I love me some noir! XD And Duel, I remember doing that as a kid!

Guys, the movie is COMPLETELY different from the comic, it's not about supervillains at all.

    • jobob247 wrote on June 27, 3:22 pm

The book (Wanted) sucked ass. So if the movie doesn't follow the book it'll probably be great. This has to be one of the overrated books of all time in the comic world. Fanboys hump it but can't even explain why they "loved it". MEH

I just got back from seeing Wanted. What an utterly average action movie. The action scenes were pretty entertaining (though the physics is a joke), but the drama leading from one scene to the next was groan-inducing. The beginning was pretty funny, but that humor didn't filter into the rest of the movie. The protagonist is ultimately an unlikable guy, so I never cared what happened to him. And, come on, benevolent assassins? Ugh.

Wish we went to see WALL*E instead.

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 29, 1:07 am

      GO SEE WALL-E!

    • Bombardem wrote on June 30, 1:12 am

I see it(wall-e) scored a 93 on Metacritic, which is REALLY high for that site since it averages all the scores given by almost every critic in the country.

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 30, 10:52 pm

I saw Wall-E at a drive-in and was still blown away.

    • angeltread wrote on July 1, 4:30 am

hey i thought it was ok. wall-e is good and cool to watch but i got bored a little bit.

    • IJones (guest) wrote on July 1, 10:28 am

Did the story bore you? It wasn't a ground breaking story, but, the visuals were the best Pixar has put out. I did enjoy the "silent movie" aspect of it. Not much dialoge, but, still a well done story. Even though you knew how it was going to end.

    • Bombardem wrote on June 27, 5:19 pm

A review of three completely irrelevant, poorly drawn, garbage can liners once again. Can we please get Pete to choose what you guys review instead of Alex? And you wonder why no one wants to sponsor the show...

Wanted is definitely a dvd rental, or a wait for HBO showing. The reviews I read on Metacritic, even the ones that gave it 90's, thought it was over the top ultra-violent crap. Everything from:
      New York Magazine David Edelstein
It takes about an hour after it's over for the heart to slow, the brain to recalibrate, and the nonsensicalness of the thing to sink in.
      to:
      Austin Chronicle Josh Rosenblatt
With every bit of sliced flesh and every punctured skull I found myself wondering who exactly this movie is for. Its unflinching violence has earned it an R rating, meaning its desired demographic – teenage boys – is out of contention.

And I agree with Fonlon, why did you waste half a show reviewing a movie you havent even seen, and have barely read anything about?

    • Bombardem (guest) wrote on June 27, 5:33 pm

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to be so bitchy... It's been a tough day. I should really think before I post comments. There's nothing to be gained from overly negative criticism, it just makes the world a worse place. I realize that now.

    • Andy (guest) wrote on June 27, 10:26 pm

That was nice of you to Apologize Bombardem. Although why didn't you log in? Oh well...

    • Andy (guest) wrote on June 28, 1:32 am

Did I mention I love the cock? I do, I only watch the show to get a glimpse of Alex's man bulge peakong from behind the table!

    • IJones (guest) wrote on June 30, 10:54 pm

Da Bomb just calls 'em as he see's 'em.

I wish Pete would be given the opportunity to voice his opinion more. This episode was one of those times that I felt like he was being shouted over. No offense to Alex and Justin, but the goofy jokes only hindered what Pete was trying to say and I wanted to hear it.
This is partially the reason I want to see Pete do a 2 minute vid of solo comic reviews called "Pete's Wisdom".
Oh, and Pete? KEEP ROCKIN' THAT PUNISHER T-SHIRT BROTHA'!!!!!

I was very iffy on seeing Wanted, but I'm planning to go and see it after Hancock premiers next week and take in both as a double feature.
I was at the local comic shop I frequent and some of the guys were talking about having seen it. Seems like they weren't too impressed. I'll still see it to judge for myself, although I'm wondering if I should just sneak in to see it.

    • I Eatz Planets wrote on June 27, 7:35 pm

Yeah, I think you guys should of waited to review it until youve seen it. Wanted was good but I really want a true adaptation maybe animated

    • Zak (guest) wrote on June 27, 11:26 pm

I do not plan on seeing Wanted. I loved the book, but it seems like the movie has deviated much too far from the source material. I mean, without supervillains, can Mr Richtus even be in it?

    • Seth Wolfshorndl (guest) wrote on June 28, 2:05 am

Hey, guys! Thanks so much for the kind words in your review of our book, Duel! I'm glad you three enjoyed it. And thanks for the link to our site.

Keep up the great job you're doing with this show. Consistently high quality stuff.

    • Ste7en (guest) wrote on June 28, 8:47 am

Saw Wanted last night and I agree the trailers had me nervous. But it really it a fun-ass movie! The whole thing is ridiculous but its such a laugh! Everyone does a great job, some more than others, I mean Angelina Jolie is fine without being anything spectacular, she shows up, is moody and sexy, then leaves. Morgen Freeman and James McAvoy are hilariously good fun. In relation to how it stands up to the comic book, well it defintely keeps the same tone as the comic. Like it may not be as over-the-top, in the way that Millar's book had our "hero" killing EVERYONE. But it does retain some of the same ideas, nihalism (office life is shit) and dont be a doormat and take charge. So go see it, if for not other reason than slow-motion head explosions...

Mini Marvels, Sparks, Duel!, and Wanted the Movie

Up first it's an advanced look at Mini Marvels by Chris Giarrusso.  Justin loves the writing and the artwork, Pete and Alex agree that it's great.  Next it's Sparks, which has been endorsed by William Katt (The Greatest American Hero).  Pete thinks it's interesting that Kat chose to endorse the title, and all three guys think the story is great. Then it's Duel!  The guys think this comic is a fun and great idea.  Pete loves the black and white artwork, and Alex wishes there were more comics like this one.  Finishing up, the guys talk about the new comic book movie Wanted.  Pete talks about similarities to Mark Millar's original Wanted graphic novel.  Alex talks about the setup of the movie, and thinks it might be the stealth hit of the summer.  Let us know what you think of this new movie.
