Hey guys, solid show! Except I feel like you rushed it a bit in order to stay on topic. Take some time. Dawdle a bit. It's not like anyone's in a huge rush.
While I do like conventions of certain media bleeding into others, I think that comics should work at being good comics, not just paper movies. True, do whatever fits the story, but I would hazard away from inspiring people to write comics like this. You guys are right: if you're going to make a movie make a movie, if you want to make comics, just do comics.

I am not a fan of Iron Man either, but I am looking forward to this Legacy of Doom mini, if for no other reason than the Ron Lim art.

This episode was rated: Meh
Not too bad, but nothing worthwhile for me to pick up. I still see no reason why Powers and Locke/Key is so popular. They're ok but these two series wont be remember as the best comic of all time. Overall it was a meh...
Nah, movies are not as realistic as they want to make you think. Comics are great as their own language, playing with their strengths and weakneses. When they try to ape movies, it's just poor.
do u think dc will finally explain how antimontior body surive the first crisis? or how lady quark who was die for 11 yrs return? do u think this will be the really final crisis? do u think it be like the lord of the rings? because dc is bragging that what final crisis will be.
"Ehcool" should be Pete's new slogan :P
I was about to pick up Criminal #2, but wanted to get American Splendor #1 instead. Now I'll go back and pick it up, and also Locke and Key :D It's true, many male writers can't write female teenagers, the only good one I know is Daniel Clowe's GHOST WORLD.
I feel, lost, adrift. Wandering aimlessly around the American Midwest. How can I continue my existence w/ out the podcast from last weeks CBC? I suppose i can return to my old lifestyle of excersize and eating right. Argh...
You guys are awesome. If I was a female and wanted to have a baby, I would collect each of your guy's sperm to create a super Alepetustin baby. Just kidding....unless Im not.
I love Iron Man. I've said it again and again if you aren't reading his title you are really missing out on a great book, thats getting better every month. I just dont do 99% of minis, particularly if its a character with an ongoing title.
Criminal is fantastic stuff. Although the new issues are completely stand alone, the whole series revolves around a bar, and the criminal underground that frequent it. The art is perfect for a noir series.
Criminal is the best. With just two issues out on this new volume everyone should jump on. I'd give up superhero comics completely if there were more solid crime series like this available.
Hey guys, funny you should mention films in relation to comics. I'm in film school right now, and I've really been getting into comics. In my opinion, the comic art form can be even more powerful than a film in telling a story. You have the visuals of a film, AND the narrative power of a novel. A strong combination! I can't draw to save my life, but I'd love to experiment with this art form.
Justin honestly looked disgusted by Alex's Bratz comment. I like that.
Civil War did not work for me as a comic because I like *reading* comics and there just wasn't enough in that for me to read. I get the cinematic thing is probably the future of comics, but I like to think comics are best when they utilize the unique strengths of the medium as Criminal does.
Also I bought my first Iron Man comic in years today. I just wish Marvel had a few more *ongoing* throwback niche books like Legacy of Doom. (I didn't even like the other IM/Doom pairings.)
I dont know that people are as much artistically designing comics for adaptaion to film, though obviously Miller did with 300, as much as creators are writing comics that are easily adaptable to screen character and story wise. There's also a HUGE crossover between the two industries artistically from the storyboarding artists. MANY of the comic artists at work today began as storyboarders for film, and vice versa. Its only natural that that plotting style might make a transition to comics.
Sort of a silly question in my opinion. Flims are flims and comics are comics. They're completely diffrent mediums, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
I don't really understand how one can become more like the other...?

Well 300 is a perfect example of how the two mediums can merge. So obviously its possible. The good directors can either do their own storyboards, or hire someone to do it, and are essentially comic books for the film makers to explain how they envision the film. Some of them are quite amazing. Ridley Scott has always done extremely complex and well done storyboards.
ALEX can you post the Comic Book Club podcast before you guys are busy every day for comicon??
I don't know if anybody else is having this problem, but I've been unable to download this episode for Windows all day from multiple computers. I click on it, and it just instantly says "done" (it should take about 20 minutes on my internet) and when I try to open it there's an error.
Hey guys, don't forget about Virgin Comics. The sole idea behind it is to branch their properties into other forms of media, i.e. movies.
.
Although I love many of the comic book movies out there, we've all seen what happens when a movie tries to be a comic book: Ang Lee's Hulk with the stupid split screens and transitions.
Comics are a great hybrid medium of literature and art and they are sooo many ways to do something unique. Look at stuff like David Mack's Daredevil, he did stuff in a comic that could also hang in an art gallery.
I think comics shouldn't try to be movies, they should just try to be great comics!
The WMV link is not working at all. The m4v link is working but I want to download and watch on my xbox360. Come on guys I jonesing for my stack!
