Sorry I just had to say that

Thanks S-P! Btw... for those who like trivia out there... I was supposed to play Leonidas with one of those plastic male muscle torsos, but due to having to rush out last week for Comic-Con we didn't have time to film it. It would have been hilarious, but WOW... our friend Rob Noiseux did such an AWESOME job, didn't he?

The goth filter effect in my cartoon plugin ToonIt! was inspired by Frank Miller, specifically Sin City. Really dramatic when applied to some still images - doesn't work as well for video.

Don't get me wrong I like Frank Miller BUT to me his artwork leaves a little to be desired.

As far as Batman goes he is not even in the top 5 maybe 10.

This show gets better and better.

Wow, you do your own stunts? Admirable! Many consider Frank a definitive Batman writer thanks to DKR, but statistically, with 4 issues of Year One, 4/DKR, 1/Spawn & Batman (from Image), 3/DKSA, and now 6/All-Star Batman & Robin, his ratio of beloved Bats work to highly criticized is a neck and neck 1:1. If ASBR stays on a bad track, the latter will overcome the good stuff -- and what are we to think then?

Glad you guys did a "Old Stuff" format show... but... well... Ronin got 5 oranges?? I usually agree with your reviews but that one threw me off. I always felt like Ronin was sort of immature, like it was written by a rambling 14 year old. "And then he's a samurai... and then OH he's from the past... but not really!... and its really a story.... the samurai guy made up... uhm... and... he's psychic...!" And the art was cool at some parts but at other parts you could just tell he didn't want to draw anymore so made the backgrounds all "mushy". Otherwise, great job guys. I'm totally going to pick up Big Guy now.

Good video just don't really agree with the Ronin Review. Maybe a 4 star comic at best. My favorite old Miller title is Elektra: Assassin a definite 5 star comic with great art by Bill Sienkiewicz and an even crazier story then Ronin by Miller

I personaly like Miller's movies a lot. His comics leave something to be desired to me. IDK I just think maybe he's work is just better suited to the big screen.

His movies are better than the comics? No freaking way! Have you ever read the Dark Knight Returns? That's a freaking masterpiece

Well I can understand the logic, I mean Sin City, and 300 are truly amazing films. Robocop 2 and 3 though, not so much. I really dislike Miller's art style and always have. His writing though is pretty exceptional. He is definitely hit and miss though. I mean given absolute carte blanche on a creator owned project what does he do, Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, gah....

    • Rudy Jahchan wrote on August 3, 3:13 pm

I (heart) Big Guy and Rusty the Robot. Granted more for the art then the story, but don't take it so seriously. I mean, the cartoon series they created out of it was FAR deeper, so what does that tell you ;-)

Also keep in mind that while he got credit for the Robocop movies, the studios heavily modified his scripts and butchered their education. It actually made him swear that non of his comics would ever be adapted to film. It would take Robert Rodriguez shooting a demo of sin city to convince him otherwise, and look where we are today.

The man has talent, I just think these days he needs to be reigned in. I actually appreciate what he was TRYING to do with DK2, but man DC really should have stopped him when they got some of the colors and images in.

I'm loving the debate over Ronin... now go leave your own reviews here: http://www.acomicbookorange.com/2007/08/07/ronin/

I appreciate your tribute to Frank Miller, with one caveat. The Ninja Turtles didn't spawn from Elektra as much as they did from Daredevil and the X-Men (some say New Mutants; I respectfully disagree). Splinter is obviously a parody of Stick, Daredevil's mentor. Shredder could be seen as an amalgam of the Kingpin and Magneto. The Foot is a knock-off of the Hand. Leonardo is Cyclops. Raphael is Wolverine. Donatello is the Beast. Michelangelo is...uh, Foggy Nelson? Perhaps he's Iceman. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Dos cosas: (1)I thought 300 was much better in print. (2) Preacher is amazing. The concept of the series when stated in 200 words or less sounds kinda stupid, but it plays out beautifully. Read a couple of the trades and you won't be sorry.*

*You might be sorry if an entertaining "what if..." senario including Christianity bugs ya [may be offensive for the self rightous religous types].
