Spoiler. Wow Greg Pak is really having some fun with this comic. It rocks. The freaking dog is a skrull? Funny turn of events. What is not to like about this comic? Splash pages, post hooking up talks, fights, flashback montage of fights, oh and the freaking dog gets his head bit off! Man this comic is a good time. What do you think? Do you think Greg Pak is one of the best right now? I know I do.

Robert Kirkman and ME in the New York Times

Look, there's been a lot of coverage already of this morning's announcement in the NY Times about Robert Kirkman's appointment as a partner at Image Comics. However, they seem to be missing the most important point... I was quoted in the article as if I'm some sort of expert:

The founders, including Erik Larsen, Jim Lee and Jim Valentino, were likened to rock stars by Alexander Zalben, a regular reviewer of comics on PulpSecret.com as well as the host of the onstage New York talk show “Comic Book Club.” “You weren’t reading Spawn, you were reading Todd McFarlane’s Spawn and Rob Liefeld’s Youngblood,” Mr. Zalben said in an e-mail message.

Today the company is still “the Marvel-DC alternative, with books like Invincible, but they’re more about offering high-quality comics by up-and-coming creators that offer an alternative to the mainstream,” Mr. Zalben wrote.

Spoiler. Wow, this is a great comic. Creepy, weird, and yet a really good time. The art is amazing, really pulls you into this world. So in this issue you get a clearer picture of what is happening, and it ain’t pretty. What I liked about this issue is that John couldn’t really save the day, but he could make it a little better. It is a lot different than most books out there. John isn’t perfect but he tries. I can get behind that. You should definitely pick up this issue. Also you should give second thoughts to joining a band. (Makes sense if you read the comic.) So Constantine fans out there? How about the movie? Personally I liked it. I didn’t mind Keanu Reeves in the Constantine movie, which is weird for me.

Here are a couple of Star Wars/Fine arts mashups, all entrants in the Worth 1000 Star Wars Ren photoshop contest. There are a bunch more on the site, definitely worth checking out.

And this picture is from an attempt in Metropolis, IL to establish a Guinness World Record for most supermen in one place. And they succeeded with 168!

By now you've probably heard or had a look at the Watchmen Trailer that's been much ballyhoed in the last 24 hours and I'll tell you, I watched it and it didn't really grab me. Maybe the anticipation is so great, and I did just see Dark Knight but... I'm worried. What did you guys think?

Talking: Tiny Titans #6

Spoiler. OK So I was wrong about Tiny Titans. This is a fun silly comic. Plus they put a lot of work into it. As well as they kind of keep continuity. In this comic Blue Beetle joins the Titans. I really feel like they are reading Teen Titans and they pull stuff from the comic to use in theirs. I really enjoy that about it. So in this comic, Blue Beetle is speaking to his back pack in it's alien language. They make the crazy symbols to represent the language. Then on the last page of the comic they give you a key. So you can go back and translate the alien language. How cool is that? Plus it is funny. It is worth the time to translate it. So how about you? Tiny Titan fans? Side note, the people behind this comic are really cool and crazy.

Spoiler. Hell yeah Femme Noir! First off the art is tight. So great, really sets the tone for this noir type of world. Could 3 ladies be the vigilantes known as Blonde justice? It has a Will Eisner’s Spirit feel to it. Old timey detective action. So far they have set up an action packed world of mystery and adventure. I am in. Have you checked out this comic? Thoughts? Why wouldn’t you want to check out this comic? I would be disappointed after this issue, if we found out it was just one of those ladies. It is a much better idea of having it be 3 separate ladies.

Comic Book Club w/ Brendan McGinley Pics

We had a great time at this week's Comic Book Club at The PIT (People's Improv Theater). Guest Brendan McGinley talked with us about his new comic Dose 2 (Indelible Comics) hot off the printers and the unfortunate tale of his trip to pick it up. Brendan also spoke about his work at Zuda Comics on Hannibal Goes to Rome. My personal favorite was his impression of an angsty teenage outcast X-Men character (complete with sound effects and simulated powers).
